She showed poor customer service skills by saying things like " we don't work for free". She also tried to insinuate that all the other customers understood her logic when in fact she never provided a direct answer to my question. read more

firendlly service, prompt phone calls, they adjusted the valves great, but they other problem where it lacked power at low rpm they didnt fix, they said they fixed it by adding coolant to radiator. I wanted to drive it around with mechanic so they knew what i meant it otherwise they had no idea what to work on. First 2 seconds of driving i knew they didnt fix it, but they didnt even charge me for that problem so whatever. Another thing is you cant bring in your own parts. This sucks especially if you want upgrades or performance parts. Or already have the part. I know before they changed owners they were great honda mechanics but im not 100% sure now and not sure when ownership changed. I have a 300k honda they worked on its whole life and I got it from my dad who always went there and the only thing i had to do in 5 years was adjust the valves. Which has to be done every several years anyway. read more

I was having car troubles and had gotten a quote from a mechanic who said the issue I was experiencing was from the water pump. Well that didn't seem right to me so I asked a friend where She takes her vehicles. I was referred to Auto Doctor and she stated she has been taking their cars there for years. I am so glad I did! This place has really gained my trust and respect. I originally went to a different shop here in Chico and was told that my AC compressor had seized up and caused a "catastrophic failure" to the entire AC system...they wanted to replace every component in the system claiming that metal debris had gotten into everything, they wanted $1000 to complete this job. I knew this was not the case because I had replaced everything already and the compressor had never even come on after I did all this..so I was baffled how something could seize up that had failed to ever even run yet (I firmly believe this other place was trying to pull a fast one on me.) I removed and replaced the compressor myself with another new one, only to find out that the original was still perfectly fine and was absolutely not seized up at all. Auto Doctor actually listened to me and observed what I had already done to the vehicle. They found a cheap and easy fix to the problem (the system was not charged up enough with R134) I'm finding that honesty and integrity are hard traits to find with some mechanics. These guys are incredibly rude and prejudice, they see a student and think they are poor, even if that student is willing to spend thousands if needed, they treat them like they have no desire to help. My girlfriend took her car in to get it smogged and they said since she recently unplugged the batter (2 weeks prior) that it wasn't ready, and to drive it around some more. So we did, and then came back and they said still not ready, and to try filling up the tank halfway, and cold starting.........so we did, STILL NOT READY. At this point, you would think they offer to inspect your car for you (for a fee we were more than happy to pay) or to at least throw some ideas out there, but all we got was a "you should take it to your regular mechanic or tinker with it at home and see if you can get it to work"....Tinker with it at home, without any idea what we need to fix? Great advice Auto Dr, it's time to retire, you clearly stopped caring about customers, your woman inside is horrible with customers and a ditz, and overall, me and my family will no longer be using you for anything. read more

Fast, friendly and affordable. My clutch needed to be replaced and I called around to a few places and Auto Doctor was hands down the best price, as well as the fastest and most accurate quote. The work was fast and they found that I needed a new axle boot while they were in there and only charged me for the parts to fix it and not the labor. I dropped my car off at 8 and it was finished at 4:30 and they also hooked up a free cab so I could come and pick it up. Highly recommended! read more

Great company and great service! My family has been coming here for over 20 years now! I send all my friends their way as well. They are honest and upfront, always call if there are any surprises and let you come down and take a look for yourself if you want to. Anyone who refers to the woman behind the counter as "dim" and "rude" doesn't know what they are talking about, she is immensely helpful and knowledgeable. If I remember correctly her name is Sue, and more than once when I have called in worried about my car with questions she has pointed me in the right direction. I would guess that if someone as kind as she is was rude to you, you probably deserved it! And they have a waiting-room and let you wait, so I am guessing that post was just someone from the competition trying to smear their competitors. Don't get Auto Doctor confused with the Doctor of Motor people, now THEY are terrible! A friend called them for a quote once and it was a huge mess, they asked two times what Auto Doctor did! 03/17/2017 I am new to the chico area and since I arrived here, I have been taking my vehicle to the Auto Doctor. I believe in building lasting relationships but during my most recent visit to this shop Apparently, my vehicle must have come at the wrong time because I did not receive excellent service like I expected. To make a long story short the owner lied to me about pricing, he kept making a guess to what he thought could be wrong with my car and HE TRIED to charge me FOR HIS GUESS WORK. In the end, he said, "I don't know what is wrong with your car, come get the car, I don't want your problems, and you could keep the part that I already put in for free. I DON'T TAKE HANDOUTS FROM CROOKS. I did take my car and I didn't pay him because he know he is a con. I am extremely pleased with Auto Doctors professional service and customer care. Case in point: I went to their shop on Park Avenue today because I was having issues with my car's charging system. I have only used Auto Doctor for all my auto repairs over the past fifteen or sixteen years, no joke just a fact. Honest, they don't try to upsell or do unnecessary repairs. It's like going to your buddy next door who really knows about cars; he wouldn't steer you wrong because he's just that way and he knows he's gonna have a beer or fourteen with you next weekend. Some of the comments in the negative reviews surprise me. I can't imagine the people working here being prejudiced or rude in any way. I've dealt with them twice over about a year now, and each time they were unusually nice. Definitely one of the nicest owners I've talked to, more concerned about turnaround time and explaining the details of my repair than I was. Imagining that guy being rude or prejudice is like imagining Santa Claus getting wasted and beating my kids. If you talk to him you'll know what I mean. I did not check the Yelp reviews before going here because I was recommended to go by someone, so I'm glad I went here after and not before. It's made me think twice now about trusting Yelp reviews completely, which is actually what I normally do. Now I'm seeing I should treat them like film reviews; not always to be trusted. Do yourself a favor and talk to these people before you decide who to use. I have a feeling you will find them some of the least rude people you've dealt with. read more

Although the mechanics seemed friendly, the dim lady in the office was inconsiderate and rude. Let's talk about POOR customer service. It is very inconvenient and flat out quizzical to be told that you cannot wait around for your vehicle to have a diagnostic check to be competed. What was I supposed to do? Walk around in the questionable neighborhood they resided in? I think not! I will never do business with a company that does strive to please their customers in any way they can. I had a need to get the belts changed on my car. I got on the internet and started calling around getting quotes. The price difference was measurable so I called Auto Doctor and scheduled an appointment. They got me in right away, and to fit my schedule. I also needed a smog check done, this was a little more than other places but the lower charge on the belts totally made up for this. The women at the desk was very nice, I dropped my car off in the morning and got a call early afternoon to come pick it up. My bill was a bit lower than the quote which was great. I got a call from them saying I needed a new gas cap, which I OK'd. When I went in the women showed me my old cap and would have shown me the belts but I told her I had seen the belts and knew they were really bad. I had this done the beginning of this month and my car is running great....I had been so afraid of breaking down now I can drive with peace of mind. Great service and best prices!! I needed the vehicle diagnosed & they found the issue (a spacer underneath the carburetor) and had my car figured out & fixed within a day.
