WARNING: Auto Haul Express (also operating as AutoCarShip.com) engaged in what I can only describe as a bait-and-switch scam. We were quoted $900 to transport our car cross-country and booked THREE MONTHS in advance. Our rep, Steve Bravo, was extremely responsive -- until we signed the contract and paid our deposit. After that, communication became a one-sided effort on our part. We periodically checked in to confirm our pickup date and were repeatedly told "all is good" and that we would be contacted one week before pickup. One week before -- nothing. We reached out multiple times and were finally told we'd be contacted the day before with a pickup window. The day before -- no call. We sent multiple calls and texts -- no response. The day OF pickup -- still no response. After hours of waiting and trying to reach someone, we received a single text saying the truck was full and our car would go on "the next truck." By this point, we had already traveled across the country. Our car was left at a friend's house on the East Coast with no pickup in sight. A week later, after again chasing down a response, we were told it would cost an additional $2,000 -- TRIPLING our original quoted price -- to ship our car. Meanwhile, friends who used a different transport company had zero issues -- no communication problems, no missed pickup, no price increase. Their car arrived on time. Ours is still sitting on the East Coast. This company takes your deposit, goes silent, misses your pickup, and then holds your car hostage for triple the price. Avoid at all costs. read more

UPDATE!!! After posting my review, Tony, the owner of the company contacted me directly to discuss my experience. He was not happy with the experience I had and we talked at length about where systems could be improved and clarity could be provided to customers to prevent similar situations in the future. We didnt agree on everything, but we did agree that neither one of us liked arguing and in the end I agreed to refund ~80% of my deposit. Do I feel it should have been 100%? Yes, but Im ok with what was offered and parting ways here. I do not believe my experience is typical, but I wont be running to give them a second chance. What you should take away is that their prices are fair if everything works out as it should. And the owner of the company isnt a bad guy, which is good because that means they care and will continue to improve. That all being said, read the other reviews and make the right decision for you. If you choose this company, you'll likely be fine. I am leaving my original review below as reference of what I dealt with. ----------------------- DO NOT CONTACT THIS COMPANY! I was searching for a company to ship my car. This company provided initially provided me with quick responses and what seemed like a fair price. I ended up choosing this company because Henry (the rep I spoke to on the phone) promised a pickup date and a 1 hour pickup window. So i made travel plans for the evening of the pickup date, which I explained to Henry I was doing. His promises made me feel comfortable doing so, and booking my car transport with them. The date came, and when the pickup window came and went I reach out to the company, their response was slow to the point I thought I was I had gotten scammed. No response until 1 hour after the window. I was told the driver was on his way but in traffic. Two hours after the pickup window closed, and Ive repeatedly asked for the driver to call me but getting no response, and finally they response telling me the truck broke down and the driver is working on fixing it. I tell them I need to have the car picked up today as agreed in our contract and they respond with "dont worry he will for sure have the truck fixed tomorrow, we think its the transmission, new pickup window is 2-3pm tomorrow." I tell them that doesnt work for me, as I have a flight i need to make tonight. I ask them immediately for a refund of my deposit as they could no longer provide the agreed upon service the representative told me to leave the "keys with the car" and the car would be picked up the next day.... Im sorry no. No one in their right mind would do that. I again asked for a refund and begin frantically searching for another company to help me. I did not hear from the company until 2 days later when i reached back out for an update on my refund. they claimed the driver attempted to pickup the car the day before, which never happened. and that i needed to email their support. So I emailed their support who just responded with no refunds as the driver was assigned. But the driver failed to pick up the car on the agreed upon date, and there was no attempt to send a backup truck to collect my car on the agreed upon date.... Their contract states that if the company is unable to pickup the car due to unforeseen circumstances that the customer is eligible for a refund. HOW DOES THIS NOT QUALIFY?!?! Now they have stopped responding to my emails. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE FRAUDSTERS AND WILL JUST STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! read more

I'm surprised this company doesn't have any other yelp reviews, only google reviews, many of which seem to be overly generous in their praise. My wife and I are moving to another state. We have two cars and it didn't make sense to drive both if the price was right to have one of our cars shipped to the new location. We got a reasonable estimate from this company so we went ahead and signed a contract. We were already very nervous after reading multiple accounts on the internet of people who had experienced all sorts of issues from other companies, such as drivers jacking up prices, cars arriving damaged or not showing up when scheduled. We brought up these concerns to our broker and we were given assurances that they would come through for us. The afternoon of the day our car was supposed to be picked up, we received a call informing us they would not be able to pick up the car until the following day. That was fine, we could work with that. They also informed us the driver wanted 3 times the initial estimated price or we could go with an uninsured driver for only 2 times the initial estimate. While we understand the quote was an estimate, that much of a difference is simply too much and shows a profound underlying issue with this company not properly anticipating environmental fluctuations that would result in such as cost disparity. We explained all this to our broker (John) and to be fair, he did try to work with us, going back to the driver to renegotiate the price and even offering to help pay for it out of his fee, unfortunately, the final price would still be more than we were willing or able to pay. We are now forced to drive both vehicles instead of just the one. This wouldn't seem to be much of an issue except that my wife is disabled and driving any type of long distance is very difficult for her. In conclusion, I would say the broker did try to deal with us in good faith, but simply was unable to deliver on finding a driver that would accept their initial estimated price. Perhaps if you are more flexible on your timing and the price you are willing to pay, you might have a better experience. read more
