The part itself maxes out around $200 even at a dealership -- so I don't know what the other $500 is for. It's disheartening when you come in being completely transparent and honest about your situation, and this is what you get in return. It feels like the more straightforward you are, the more certain shops try to take advantage of you. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but I can't in good conscience let this go without a warning to others. Do your research before you come here. Know what your parts cost. Then they stated they couldn't keep vehicle running. Wouldn't idle. Instead of waiting on figuring it out I decided to have it picked up so I could diagnose it and fix it. Was running fine when delivered to shop. Upon me getting truck back, opened door and truck had such a strong smell of cat pee. Seat cover on drivers seat was folded over. I unfolded it and surprise was waiting for me in the seat, cat crapped all over seat. Pee all over the floor board and more cat crap all over the seats in the back of truck. This should not happen. This is what I'm most upset about. Besides transmission being fixed (can't test) experience as horrible mainly because of the exposure to cat everything inside my truck. Now I have to clean it.

Joe did a test drive for a few minutes and then check the transmission fluid to see if there was any metal glitter in it. Fortunately, the problem is minimum at the moment and if I follow Joe's advice I will be able to keep it running for a little while. Nevertheless, the transmission will have to be replaced sooner of later. I'm glad that he educated me about the quick temporary solutions that many of us go forth such as adding additives to the transmission fluid which ultimately end up making the rubber seals swelled to the point that they fail faster.
