Took my truck in for some transmission issues. The team was able to diagnose the truck and find the problem quickly, and explained it to me where I was able to understand the problem. I don't write this review to unfairly slam a business, but I have to be honest about my experience in the hopes of better informing others. My Chevy Traverse's transmission gave out a little over a year ago, and I took it to A Transmission Doctor. They rebuilt the transmission at a cost of about $4,500.00. The job came with an ATRA nationwide warranty good for 24,000 miles. When I picked up my car, I noticed some jerkiness and slamming in low gears; I brought it back to them 500 miles later, and they said they couldn't see a problem. 10,000 miles later, while in Florida, the car failed to get into gear. I had it towed to a repair shop that honored the ATRA warranty, but John at A Transmission Doctor wouldn't honor the job until I had it towed to another repair shop that he was evidently more familiar with. Moreover, John was very reluctant to admit that the problem was in the transmission, and when I called ATRA to ask them to stand by their warranty, they told me that they only act as middlemen. I soon saw how dubious this warranty was. To John's credit, he did eventually accept the charges at his recommended shop in Florida. That was some down time and annoyance, but two weeks later, I had the transmission fixed again under warranty. However, I never felt as if the rebuilt job was quite right; at times, at low speeds, it would slam hard into gear when I accelerated, but getting at the problem required taking the transmission apart, and there was no guarantee anything was structurally wrong. I might pay thousands of dollars for an inconclusive examination. Last week in Pennsylvania, and 20,000 miles later, my transmission gave out yet again. This time, it was no longer under warranty. I decided to just take it to a Chevy dealership this time, and in all honesty, I wish I'd done that the first time. For slightly LESS money, I got a brand new transmission (not a rebuilt one) which comes with a 100,000 mile nationwide warranty, and a free loaner car while the job was completed. I spent a year wondering if or when my original repair job would fail, and here I am with the answer. I know people are hesitant to take a car to a dealership for repairs, but even if you pay a little more for your transmission, it's well worth the money. You'll get a new tranny, a much better warranty, and you won't have to spend hours on the phone haggling about honoring the warranty--a warranty that has very little support to it. read more

The owner John is a liar! If you ask when your car will be ready, he avoids the question......then days later he say he told exactly when your car would be ready! In my 50 years of living and using reputable shops to repair my cars, I have NEVER been treated with such disregard. I'm sure he will deny what I'm saying here folks so please consider yourself warned. There are good, honest transmission shops here in cypress that will do a professional job. He actually sat there playing on his cell phone and told me to come back that afternoon to get my car while my wife and I stood in the parking lot sweating our tails off in the sun. Meanwhile, he had his worker work on other jobs after 4 days of my car being in his shop. After I complained, he told his guy to work on my car. It's a disgrace and a dis-service to the cypress business community to have people treat you this way. read more
