SCAM ALERT and shady business alarm, entire engine needed replacement!! I originally recommended this dealership, however am changing my review. After driving the 2018 Mazda CX5 I purchased from Justin and Jay for only just ONE month, the engine started leaking oil. My local mechanic tried to fix it and discovered that the ENTIRE ENGINE needed to be replaced. Apparently, the car was in an undisclosed accident (other than the bumper scratches visible) and whoever repaired the engine had done so with glue and shoddy workmanship. Auto Member does not check their cars before purchasing them to resell. When they took the plate off, bits of metal fell off, and things were leaking and broken everywhere. It could not be fixed. I had to purchase an entire new engine for a 2018 used vehicle that cost me $17,500 at Auto Member. It appears that Justin, Jay, and Auto Member are not helpful, professional, nor trustworthy/ethical as I originally thought. For this horrible situation I unfortunately have no way to fix or get my money back, and am trying to warn any new customers.....RUN FAR AWAY from Auto Member!!! Or at the very least make very sure you have a reputable mechanic do a thorough scrub of any car you are thinking of buying. The sad part is the car ran fine for a whole month before completely breaking down. BEWARE!!! I had 9k cash on me but didn't have bank routing info. Never installed on current phone. Called bank, and was hung up on. At that point, the loan processor went online and looked up the #'s and typed them in. The lender approved but the #'s were incorrect. I received notice that my very 1st payment was declined for insufficient funds. I panicked and pulled up the account. Then I called the lender and sent a screenshot of the balance. DONT SHOP WITH THESE GUYS!!!! I hate to even have to say this, but if you're a woman looking to buy a car from these guys. Don't do it. And if you do, go with someone who knows the Business of financing a car or someone with knowledge of the math and calculations behind it. These guys are nothing but sweet talkers and scammers. I came in looking for a car below 10k because that is what I can afford right now as I'm also a new mom to be . I guess they saw that and thought I would be an easy target. Jeff showed me a couple cars within my price point but they all had problems or issues that would require more money on the car for them to fix. So the cars aren't really being listed as the price that they actually are going to be. I Paid them 4K for a Ford explorer only to come in the next day to be told the car didn't pass inspection.( brakes, exhaust system, and suspension had issues). Ended up saying NO to the car because it was too risky. Jeff showed me more cars out of my price point that I had given them. And I just didn't like any of the cars. I asked for my money back and the manager gave me a refund of 3900 and told me they are keeping 100 for wasting their time. And thank God I was on the phone with a man who knew about financing.I got my 100 back after my friend on the phone made him know that that was fraud! And they can't do that. Trying to sell people cars that have not passed inspection and aren't supposed to be in the lot. The manager is just a very rude guy. UPDATE: Confirmed that the car we purchased a few months ago from Automember is now a total loss because of a chronic oil leak that should have been easily identified by Automember prior to sale. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!! I do NOT recommend buying from these guys. They sold me an SUV a few months ago. It turned out to be a lemon within a few months, which now requires a few thousand dollars in additional repairs for something that they should have easily known about before selling me the car. If they had told me about the issue upfront, I would have just had to pay a few hundred dollars to fix a leaky oil gasket and would have avoided the excessive additional costs for the new problems I have with the engine now. So, this week I asked them to at least cover the labor for the new repairs but they have not complied. They also screwed up ordering the license plates for the car at time of purchase, which caused me to incur additional $150 in late fees when paying my car taxes. STAY AWAY. As I have come across other reviews about the "switch tactic" I recall having the same thing done to me. Went in to look at a 2014 Jeep Wrangler unlimited knowing that the price seems too good to be true and they end up telling me it's in the shop for a new clutch but what I saw on the website that it was automatic. They also do their own repairs in house and the car was never to be found on the lot or in the shop. They immediately got me to look at other Jeep's they had and I ended up purchasing one but that's not where it ends...... I bought this car from them about a year ago and since I lived in Maryland I wanted to make sure everything was it working order before inspection. I was ensured that nothing was wrong with the car and that if it did not pass inspection I could bring it back for any repairs. Undergo the inspection and the parking brake doesn't work so I call the salesman Marcos and he tells me to bring it in to have the parking brake fixed. I end up heading down there about an hour away and they apparently fixed the parking brake. The shop I went for the inspection said it still has not been fixed, saying the car wasn't even touched since they inspected it 2 days ago. Do not purchase a car from here. Save yourself the headache. Capital one recommended this place to me, Which makes me even more upset. I purchased a vehicle from them in November of 2023. Not even 24hrs after purchase the check engine light comes on. The issue was that the mechanism that controls the accelerator was bad. Meaning if I were to keep driving at some point, I wouldn't have control over the acceleration of the vehicle. They did take the car to Nissan to get it fixed. I had no vehicle for a month. They would barley give me updates. Imagine paying a car note for a vehicle and not having it. Now I'm going on 3 months and still have not received my tags. My temp tags are now expired for the 3rd time. First they said go and get emissions. Emissions completed. I call, I get sent to voicemail. I email, no response. Lastly beware of price changing. The website will show one price but your paper work will say another. They're very nice and seem like they care for their clients until they get your money. After that, forget about it. read more

Friendly staff, but poor vehicle quality and post-sales service - Don't buy from this dealership... I recently bought a Mini Cooper from Auto Member. On the test drive a tire-warning light came on, and I noticed a humming sound/vibration coming from the front of the car (which I assumed was a low tire). I told them the issues and they took the car into their shop and told me they fixed it. With this assurance I bought the car, and within 5-mins of leaving the lot the light came back on, and the humming vibration got worse. I immediately contacted Auto Lender and was told to bring the car back and that they'd take a look. I dropped the car the next day, and later got a call that the tire light was fixed, but they didn't notice any humming/vibration, and to come out and show the service manager the issue myself. Unfortunately, I couldn't go another day without the car, so I just decided to pick it up and take it to another shop later to get the humming issue sorted. When I arrived to pick up the car I immediately saw that the tire light was still on (despite being told over the phone it was fixed) - The general manager came out and told me it was a bad sensor that needs replacing, and that they had sold me the car as-is with no promise to fix it. This was contradictory to what I was told at time of purchase, and also to the message I'd gotten that they had fixed the problem. I told this to the general manager, who informed me his sales team hadn't mention any promise to fix the tire light to him, but he'd ask them about it and let me know.... two weeks later I haven't heard anything back. Given a lack of confidence in Auto Lender to actually address the problems, I took the vehicle to a Mini dealership to have them check the humming issue and inspect the vehicle. They immediately identified the humming issue as two bad front wheel bearings that needed to be replaced, and also found a cracked drive-pulley and leaking water-pump. In all I spent $2,300 fixing a vehicle I bought from Auto Member just a week prior. Auto Member had better pricing than most other dealers, but after the money I spent to repair the car I would have been better off going somewhere else and paying a bit more. If you must buy a car from Auto Member, I highly recommend getting the vehicle inspected before purchasing it, and if you do notice a problem before buying... don't expect them to fix it... they will not honor their promises. read more

And the Salesman asking if I could Forge a document on my phone pertaining to my employment... I might have gone through with the deal... Might. After the 3 visits, not being able to test drive the car, having my wife disrespected in the dealership, and a $895 processing fee, I'm glad I went elsewhere. Just because the name changed, doesn't mean their tactics have. I even pretended that they had helped friends of mine over the past 2 years.. When in reality, every friend I have had that bought a car from B&M, then Automember, one thing remains constant... Professionalism is rare, It is there, but it is rare, and the Shady back lot used car salesman still exists. I have poor credit, my own mistakes and I live with it, I know how a car deal should look for someone with my credit... And what I was provided there was NOTHING on paper, and being told that the bank also wanted my current car, to prove I would pay for the one I was purchasing. As that old lady once said, "That's not how that works, THATS NOT HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS." Do your research, look around, check the values of the cars before you buy. Do not fall for the Guaranteed approval, or the low down payments. You can find those elsewhere. Is Automember a bad dealership? No. Are the salesmen evil? No not at all. Are they a bit shady? Yeah. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! UNPROFESSIONAL, UNORGANIZED, UNEDUCATED. IF I COULD RATE 0 STARS I WOULD. I purchased a vehicle from them on 11/23/2018, when I tried to go register the vehicle at the DMV a few days later, I was told the title hasn't be released yet. Called to find out why, apparently the dealership didn't even have the title from where they purchased it yet.. was told it will be a few weeks, no problem, they gave me a second set of temporary tags. Come January 2019, we still haven't been notified of anything. Not to mention 3 out of 4 tires were dry rotted, the oil in the car was dirty when they claimed it was just changed and was notified that the emissions test wasn't up to date. Usually when you purchase a car everything is up to date. their explanation to everything was " it just passed inspection ". And to top it all off One of the dry rotted tires ended up popping while driving a few days after purchase before they could be replaced since they would not replace the tires. 1/08/2019 We go back to the dealership to pick up the license plates, we are met by an employee there, not sure his name since he never introduced himself, it was either Vasily , Mike , or Shaun but never introduced himself, again unprofessional and the whole time we were talking with Karen getting everything figured out he was staring me down giving dirty looks. Finally asked him if there's a problem and he just looks away. End up finally able to get tags from the dealership thanks to Karen who was amazing and handled everything correctly and professionally and was able to get everything resolved quickly. We were informed by her that they should have offered permanent tags instead of temporary tags for the car at the time of purchase while they obtained the title, and was never offered that at time of purchase. This place is a complete joke to the auto business industry. If this place continues to stay open more problems will arise for other people not to mention the possible lawsuits and problems if the cars continue to not be inspected correctly and accurately. In September of 2020 I purchased a Nissan rogue 2019. I paid top dollar for the car. In the financing along with the taxes I also financed the new plates. After a month and a half I received a check in the mail from Auto member refunding the plates and told to get them on my own. Of course having no idea that the plates were unattainable due to the title work that had never been completed I was left breathless. I called the DMV who told me that I needed something called an SR-22. I am 59 years old and I've never even had a speeding ticket much less a DUI. From what I can gather the young lady that owned the car previous to me lived in Pennsylvania and had received several DUIs. Not disclosing the young lady's name but apparently the car have been confiscated and sold at an auction to Auto number. Unfortunately the title was not clear. It was still in her name when they sold me the car. Due to this fact I was unable to get license plates until April of 2021 when I resolved the issues on my own without any help from Auto member. They shook my hand took my money and then refused to help. I called them no less than 20 times on a recorded line asking an even begging for help. I reached out to their parent company and spoke to somebody and their executive offices who promised to fix the problem I never heard a word. On one occasion I was lucky enough to dial extensions until I hit somebody in the head office and financing. He was kind enough to call the DMV with me on the line. At that point the DMV stated that I needed an SR-22 in order to clear the title. Once the DMV hung up the auto member representative then basically told me I was on my own and he didn't know what to tell me but I should contact my insurance company and I would have to pay for the SR-22 for no less than 2 years in order to get the plates. Being innocent of these crimes I began working on the problem. I had to trace everything back to the original owner go through the history clear the title with the state of Pennsylvania during covid. Which meant I was unable to get clear answers. Total time I spent on this issue was 8 months. I only had a 30-day temp tag and was unable to drive my new car for 7 months legally due to the fact that once auto member took my money they wanted nothing to do with me.
