This is my second (or third) review of this ridiculous place (how they are still operating, I have no idea). These dudes are straight up crooks. I just got a call from a reputable shop that failed my 2012 Jeep Wrangler for emissions because the check engine light doesn't come on when activating the ignition. Turns out that the light is, in fact, on...and has been since I bought the piece of shit, but no one could see it because TAPE HAD BEEN PLACED OVER THE LIGHT! Yes...you read that correctly. Not only did I have to spend $4k to REPLACE THE ENGINE SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, but two weeks ago I spent another $2k having shit replaced that should never have needed it. If you purchase a vehicle from these unethical assholes, you will end up spending more to get it fixed, than it's actually worth. I was blinded because I've always wanted a Wrangler, so I overlooked all of the warning signs. I've hired an attorney, and will be going after the $8k-$10k that I will end up spending to get this clunker (that never should have been sold in the first place) running right. DO NOT buy from this dealership. All of the cars at this lot are used and rebuilt cars, which they do not hide. But what they do hide is that they are only worth 50% regular value with the rebuilt title so they still considerably up charge their vehicles. Along with this, Their salesmen, especially Paul are incredibly shady. Before purchasing a 2010 Jeep Wrangler from this lot I got a thorough inspection on my own dime to find out the car had more than 3k in repairs that would soon be needed. Paul refuses to talk about any of the issues and said he would not fix any of it under the 30 day warranty which simply covers the drivetrain. Summary: They have a good reputation locally but treat them like any other used car dealer. Their business is fixing up cars from auctions that were in accidents. I bought a car from Joe. The car is an automatic Toyota sedan and had a stalling problem that no one seem to understand, but may temporarily go away by resetting the battery etc. The problem started exactly one day after I purchased it, LAF flaked responsibility every time I brought it to them, saying nothing is wrong when their mechanics try it, claiming to have replaced a part for me with no documentation etc. I am not an expert but I know how to properly operate a vehicle, when the car (an automatic) simply stalls at a stop light, that is not an operator error. 2nd problem had to do with the financing, we worked out an extremely simple payment plan where I pay the majority of the cost of the vehicle up front, and pay off the rest with my NEXT paycheck. That's just how my finances were at the time, very close but not enough to cover the whole cost. Anyways, I have a temporary plate on a piece of paper and let it be known that I will pay off the rest in two weeks time or less (one paycheck). Joe understood and he will have all the paperwork ready...not. Many times I stop by ready to pay, he doesn't have paperwork ready, so I call ahead at noon in the middle of the week to inform Joe that I'll come after work, I arrive at 4:30 to find the place closed early. It got to the point where my temporary paper license plates expired (one month) and I needed a new temp paper license plate. I purchased a 2015 Jeep Sport Willys Edition from LAF today so this will be my initial review, I will follow up with a 30 day, 60-90 day, and a 6 month review, which I always do with major purchases. I'll add a personal note that if you only review negative purchases because you've failed to do your due diligence and research for a particular product or business, then shame on you, perhaps the issue or root problem can be found easily--just walk to the closest mirror, stop for a moment, gaze deeply into the eyes of the person looking at you at ask them....."Hey fool...are you responsible for anything in your life?" then wait a moment for their answer. Let's begin. Day 1 LAF. I arrived, met with Ray and test drove 4 Jeeps I was interested in; all 2012 or newer. I narrowed my choices to 2 and began the negotiations. It was apparent Ray was not a professional salesman and not comfortable with this (truth is I also hate negotiating). He explained their business plan, how they acquire their vehicles, and that the listed prices are their prices. I was disappointed, but understood, and had other options to look at, so I shook his hand and went on to look at a few other Jeeps. I called a family friend who owns a car lot in Washington State who has been in the business for over 40 years. He looked at their web site, explained they have a somewhat common business plan, and gave me some advice on what to look for in the vehicles I was interested in. I sent him the VINs and he returned the CARFAX Info for me. I called my finance company and discussed my options with them as well. I learned the asking price was well within the finance range (they would finance 85% of total value given the salvage title). Basically, I did some research. I returned the following morning with a friend who has a mechanical background, met with Paul, and test drove the 2 Jeeps I had decided on. My friend was there to give me honest feedback on which he felt was the best choice for the money--READ 'HONEST". We drove the Jeeps, stopped, inspected them, raised the hood, looked at the belts, parts, tires, hoses, frames, etc. (how do buy a car with bald tires you.....fill in the blank .....you retar.......dor.....idio......moro.....). We returned to LAF and I asked to look at the files of the damages to both Jeeps that were wrecked so I knew what I was purchasing. When all was said and done, Paul and I closed the deal! I found Paul and Ray to be professional, approachable and friendly. They are in business to make money. They are admittedly selling used vehicles that have been previously wrecked, if you do not understand that, and if you do not understand that the this will depreciate the overall value of that vehicle then you were probably involved in a wreck with one of their vehicles! Seriously! They were honest in explaining where and how they get their vehicles, and the process the state is involved in inspecting them. Wait, didn't you ask? Now, I will add, if I find out that they intentionally hid / masked a serious issue with the Jeep I purchased then I will have a discussion with Paul and Ray at their business and we will resolve the issue. This I have no doubt. But, I did buy a USED JEEP, with a known crash, at a reduced value, so I am setting aside some money for anticipated repairs. At this point I would recommend them to my friends and colleagues, and I plan on purchasing a truck from them in the near future. There was a very minor miscommunication in the paperwork that we've agreed to resolve through other means. I have no doubt they'll come through as agreed. So...If you are a 17 year old BUGGER EATING TEEN BUYING YOUR FIRST CAR DO NOT BLAME LAF BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ASK A SIMPLE DAMN QUESTION OR DO BASIC RESEARCH! AVOID AVOID AVOID No matter how nice the vehicle go the other direction. The salesmen are greedy and could care less about customer service; they only want your money and could care less about the condition of the vehicle you are purchasing. They are very good at hiding problems in the engine, despite them claiming it's in 'near-perfect' condition. My Jeep did come with a 30 day or 1,000-mile warranty. Because it 'looked' very new and the salesperson was insistent that it was in such incredible shape, I purchased the Jeep. Unfortunately, the Jeep starting having problems in the engine was just after driving 150 miles. I couldn't trust the salesman, so of course I took it to a local mechanic. This mechanic discovered over $1,200 in damages to the engine due to the massive oil leak and other parts that needed to be replaced in order for me to drive it safely. The mechanic even showed me the temporary cheap fix that this sales lot attempted to make so they could get it sold to a sucker like me. When I contacted the salesman to inform of the situation, he was arguing and said they would not warranty it, that if there was I problem, I should have taken it to their hired mechanic (the one that did the temporary fix in the first place). After not giving up (a lot of arguing back and forth), I provided them with proof of receipts, and they said they would only pay for the parts ( 8% of the bill) and refused to pay for the replacement of the battery that actually died a week after I bought it, had no idea it was so old. If you are looking for an overpriced, unreliable place that only cares about themselves and how they could benefit with no customer service, this place is for you. But if you are looking for a reliable vehicle that is fare priced with customer service that I strongly urge you to go somewhere else. BUYER BEWARE! SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! PLEASE, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH! DO NO PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM LAF UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF MONEY TO SPARE!! Rebuilt Jeeps are a total scam. Despite what Paul says, assessed value is 50% of KBB for equivalent non-branded vehicle. I took one of their Jeeps for a test ride and decided to have it inspected because I didn't have a good feeling that the Jeep was in good working order. I'm glad I followed my gut. The check engine light came on while driving the vehicle. Inspector said it's an emissions issue. They found 3 leaks, one of which is the main seal, very expensive to repair. Paul said that it's a common issue and does not need a repair. The Jeep needs a wheel alignment, very close to needing new breaks and a bunch of other routine maintenance services. I don't know how long this Jeep has been on the lot but it's clear they did not even change any of the dirty fluids. They didn't even fill the windshield wiper fluid. One of the shocks was damaged too. They sprayed parts of the underbody to hide rust. I estimate total cost of repairs to be AT LEAST $4000. Here is the very sad part, Paul didn't want to know what was wrong with the vehicle. All he kept saying was the car passed inspection and these issues were normal maintenance. I read the list to him anyway. He really didn't care that someone would buy this overpriced vehicle and then be stuck with $4,000 in repairs, too. Let me repeat, PAUL DID NOT CARE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS!!! I asked if he would address these issues during the 30 day warranty. He said NO, the warranty only covers the drive train for 1,000 miles or 30 days. Would you want to purchase a vehicle with known issues? Main seal leak, brake fluid leak and front axle leak...known issues that Paul REFUSES to tell a potential customer? Does that sound like an honest salesman? Oh, I forgot to mention that when I was seriously considering a Jeep purchase, Paul said he didn't mind if I signed my wife's name on the contract!!!! There must be huge profits in selling Rebuilt Jeeps. Have to wonder why rebuilt vehicles are such a large part of their business. I truly believe LAF should be reported to the BBB. DO NOT buy from this dealership! I would give them 0 stars if they made that an option. One of the shadiest shittiest experiences EVER dealing with Paul, the salesman or the manager depending on what day you ask. I came with my uncle to test drive the Nissan Quest, and had spoken with Paul a few times by email regarding coming as well as not having good credit and I didn't want to be jerked around and wanted the straight up legit pricing as we had just come from ANOTHER shitty dealership (Prize Auto of VA) and I was exhausted of these shitty VA dealerships. Paul talks a good game and has the gift of gab but it's all for show. He told me a lot of the young guys in the industry don't know how to sell cars and it's all in how you write it up etc. He pulled the Quest in for us to take a look at instead of us driving it first (should have been a red flag). Inside was clean but a seat lever was broken so seat couldn't fold down, inside lights did not work on mirrors. Test drove and the car was grumbling loud, we made it half a block and my uncle said to turn around because it sounded like the transmission or some major engine issue. Paul acted as if he didn't know anything was wrong with the Quest. At this point, I've driven an hour and a half in the rain, so instead of just heading back, we looked to see what else he had, He showed us a Chrysler Pacifica that was decent but rusty and a Mercury Mountaineer, which was the nicest one. Test drove it and liked it. Paul said he'd need to get MD inspection done and he guaranteed it and then it would be good to go. He would not move on getting the car MD inspected without down payment (next red flag). He made the case that it would be easier to get the inspection done, have tags and etc ready to go. Since I live so far away, it made no sense to travel twice. Once to give down payment and once to pick up vehicle so we decided on online transfer of down payment and he was to Fedex the contract on Saturday. We sent payment Friday. No vehicle contract came Saturday. I followed up and Paul said he forgot to mark Saturday delivery and it would get here Monday. Monday came, no contract and I inquired if car passed MD inspection. He said the Mountaineer failed and that he needed to replace a few things. No contract EVER came to our address after I had inquired several times, money had been transferred with no confirmation on if the truck had been re-inspected and passed. I wrote an email stating I'd be cancelling my purchase as things at this point didn't seem right. Paul was calling up until money was received then I suddenly started getting more emails. After I sent cancellation Tuesday night, I get an email from "Terry" the manager (Paul said he was the manager and part owner) stating that the truck had passed re-inspection, nothing had changed and they were ready for me to pick up on Wednesday. At this point I asked for proof of MD inspection to be scanned and sent as well as the contract to even see what was happening. I told them I am only purchasing if everything is legit. They sent a re-inspection notice with nothing on it except an addendum note that said it passed but no inspection certificate. Then they sent a contract that had a different price than the original $11500 Paul stated he was selling it for, in addition, he added a 2005 Hyundai Elantra which I did not own onto the paperwork, and said that the "banks like to see it" and that's why he added it, saying it would "help" me getter a better deal with the bank to which I did not understand because we have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier that could actually be traded in. I inquired about why the asking price was different, an explanation of a trade-in that wasn't mine and charge for GAP insurance fee (which in the beginning Paul bragged on how all these other dealerships charge these fees and they aren't needed or required and then he places the same fees on the contract). They also sent me two different contracts, one that had all details and one that had certain details. After I inquired about all of this, I got an email that stated "we have a 20 year reputation and are family owned and you seem uncomfortable, so we are just going to refund your deposit." This is a relief since I have no idea what kind of shady shit they were trying to underwrite this Hyundai Elantra for, but glad my name was not attached to it. I waited on my initial refund to be returned via Paypal and after it had not been received, I contacted Paul regarding not receiving it. At this point he was dismissive and acted like "I'm not the manager, you'll have to talk to Terry and he won't be back until Tuesday, this after I told him we needed our refund as we actually found a legit vehicle to buy. He raised his voice at me and said he didn't want to deal with "this" anymore. I hung up and wrote an email to their company that I would make sure EVERY single car website knows NOT to buy a car from there. read more

We purchased a truck from this business that was a hunk of junk! 2 days after purchasing it we had to take it into the shop for leaking transmission lines. The lines were so rusted into the radiator that they couldn't be removed and we had to get a new radiator and transmission housing, costing $2000. We tried to get them to take the truck back but they refused. On top of that Ray and Paul were extremely rude. Ray, the owner even hung up once on my husband and once on me. They just wanted us to go away and did not have any respect for their customers. We then noticed that the truck had a vibration at 40mph. They replaced the ball joints for us, but that was not the problem. We tried to get them to fix whatever the problem was but they told us not to bring the truck back. The truck also developed a diesel leak and the power went out one time when we were driving it. It was so corroded underneath which was concealed with an undercoat when we purchased it. This was the worst experience we had buying a vehicle and will only buy from big dealerships from now on who value their customers. This business is a scam! read more

Joe sold me a 13 year old car with only 25,000 miles on it. When I questioned the low mileage he insisted it was a clerical error someone had previously made. I thought I was getting a car I could use for many miles. After purchase my mechanic confirmed that the car showed wear consistent with many more miles. I brought the car back yesterday and look forward to my lienholder confirming Joe has sent in the payoff. When I asked about the mileage inconsistency he said that the carfax states it was a clerical error. When I he showed me the carfax on his computer screen it states "mileage inconsistency MAY be a result of clerical error". They tried to pull one over on me, don't let it happen to you. read more

I've had my license for a bit over a year now and was looking for a second family car to get me to and from school. I ended up here after gut reaction to the superb service provided by Joe. I went in asking for something Japanese, under 100k miles, and under $7k. I was pointed towards a few cars but a 2003 civic ex caught my eye! It had a sun roof and ice cold ac! Only problem- stick shift. We were able to rent a stick from a local car rental company and I was back to pick up the car in no time! Joe was flexible on the price initially but wasn't into the whole nickel and dimeing down the price. When we went back to buy the car, we gave it a thorough inspection a found a few minor problems- dinged windshield, fluids, windshield wipers, ect. Every problem was fixed before we bought the car for no cost! Additionally, we were briefed on what could go wrong with the car and how much they would cost at their garage. Upon driving home, I noticed a taillight was out. Called a few days later- again replaced, no charge. Great buying experience. Great service. Honest and quality place!
