If the car has an unexpected emergency problem, he'll take the car in right then and there. This is a wonderful thing because I'm completely dependent on my car. For regular maintainence make an appointment - sometimes it may be a few weeks because he has a solid customer base and as the owner and operator, he's busy. An honest, reliable car repair shop that stands behind its high quality work is a business to bring your business to. I've been going there for years with my car; it runs extremely well, I feel physically safe with its level of care and repair and I've never walked out of the shop thinking that I have been overcharged or had reason to question whether the work was done properly. Weinings is on Route 104 in Greece not far beyond the Wal*Mart, so it's right on the way for commuters to points west from Rochester.

The gas prices can be a little more expensive than other places nearby, and their air pump could use some maintenance, but as far as car service goes, they're wonderful. I went in for my inspection and they were able to get me in first thing the next morning. They were done in about two hours, but it was no problem for me to leave my car there until I was able to pick it up after work. More recently, I was having problems with my check engine light going off and on periodically, so I stopped there on a whim. I told them I'd be happy to leave it or bring it back when it was more convenient for them, but he came out right away to do a quick check. It was nothing serious - he fixed it quickly and talked me through what might've caused it. There was no charge for this and now I can rest easy knowing there's no crazy damage happening inside my car! I've never once felt like I was being cheated out of money or good quality service! He only takes cash and does not give a receipt or documentation of work performed. We took it to two other places and both said that one of the emissions devices was not functioning. We took it to another garage & left it for work. Garage owner said that it appeared to not have had any parts replaced. His cost for fixing it was 239 dollars and you get a receipt and documentation of work performed. A very expensive lesson for me.

The owner was very helpful the next morning when I called, explained to me exactly what he was going to do, and got the work done in under 3 hours. My wheel barring had gone bad and had to be completely replaced. He sourced the part, had it delivered to the shop and the entire cost came out to only $275 (part = $140ish, labor = $70ish/hour). He allowed me to take my car to the ATM to get out cash for payment, and gave me a detailed full page receipt that included a 12 month warranty on the part and the work that was done. As a 20 something up in NY without my family, the owner made a difficult process as easy and stress free as possible. Would highly recommend for quick, quality service!

So I had to have it repaired and took it to Cortese Collision. Mike Andreano is the manager there and Mike and his team did a great job. The body and fender guy did an excellent job, he knows his business. When I first bought the car there was a little crack, some scratches on the rear bumper. Plus due to a rough winter a few years ago, jammed parking lot where I live, some hard snow, it got a little worse. So I took back to Cortese and Mike and his team took care of it again. The first time was from a side impact where they had to replace the rear quarter panel. They new piece they welded in has a visible line where the weld is. The paint also has many defects. Some of which they fixed after I brought it back twice. Others it still has since I gave up trying to get them to fix it. The last time I went to request they fix the remaining paint defects they told me they would call me back. Never did get that call. The second time they fixed a minor dent in the front fender and the paint work was terrible. Clear coat was missing in some spots and is starting to peel in others a couple years later. Find another shop to get work done on your car.

However, these shops were fully booked at least until mid-December, but I need to replace the axle as soon as possible. Red's Auto did that fast but I'm not satisfied with how much he charged me for labor. Compare to other repair shops, I believe the labor charge was very unfair. ​

This is the most negative review that I have ever written. I usually share my positive experiences…read moreand, rarely, do I write negative reviews. However, wasting $700 and being put in a life threatening situation is enough of a reason for me to write a review that is four thousand words long. To summarize what follows, the Auto Stop installed old brakes on my wife's MINI, sent her back home in a car that leaked braking fluid, promised to refund a part of the $700, caused me to loss yet another $100, stated that upon consulting their attorney they were not obligated to do anything, and said that their business was facing closure. Now, the details, if you are interested: I had been a loyal customer of Marcie's (the owner of the Auto Stop) for most of the three and a half years that I lived in Rochester, NY. During that time I've come to their shop multiple times with my 2014 Mazda3 and my wife's 2011 MINI. The service was always good, communication better than your average shop. However, things took a sudden turn at the end of 2019. I moved to MD in November while my wife stayed in Rochester for few more months. In December she took her MINI to the Auto Stop for brake job -- rear breaks, including calipers, were replaced. Run her about $700. It was Friday. While she drove the car during the weekend she called me saying that all brake lights came on. I told her to go back to the shop which she did. She called me saying that the car was barely braking but she made it to the shop; the mechanics have told her that all braking fluid leaked and she was lucky to have made it; they proceeded to fix, i.e. tighten whatever wasn't, added (or flushed) the fluid and let her go at no charge. Having heard that I was in a shock -- it was only luck that my wife wasn't driving to visit me in MD that weekend as that could have resulted in her loosing her brakes while driving at the PA highway (with 70mph speed limit!). I was frustrated but trusted that it was an honest mistake. Fast forward to February of 2020, my wife joined me in MD. As soon as I saw her drive I heard and saw that her rear brakes were in terrible condition -- extremely rusted, flaking, and chipped. I did not believe that these had been installed new. I was upset but kept calm. I went to a local shop whose mechanics confirmed that the brake rotors, pads, and calipers were all in bad shape; calipers were shot. I conveyed the findings to Marcie over phone and told her directly that I would like to obtain a refund -- at least partial -- as I had to have the entire brake job re-done. My multiple phone calls with Marcie were difficult to say the least. She offered fixing the brakes if I came back to her shop which I did not want to do as I believed that driving few hundred miles on these brakes was dangerous. She stated that she might be able to do a partial refund for the parts. I agreed as that was better than nothing. I had the local shop fix the brakes again and give me back the old calipers (which I had to pay extra $100 for as shops normally send old calipers to manufacturers for a discount on the new ones). I shipped the old calipers back to the Auto Stop as agreed with Marcie. Upon receiving the calipers, Marcie asked me for receipt from my local shop who took them off. For the next three weeks I haven't heard from Marcie so I called her again in the beginning of April to check on my partial refund. Marcie answered the phone and stated that it was impossible that these calipers were installed in December (my point exactly), that had I gone to her in person with the MINI she would have had the brakes fixed, and that she was waiting to talk to her supplier. At this point I have lost my hope for any refund. Marcie made it very clear that I am not getting the $700, not even part of it, back. She made sure to tell me that she had checked with her attorney as far as what her responsibility is and that she was not responsible to provide any sort of remedy. She also told me that her shop was facing closure and she cannot afford addressing my brakes. I used to refer my friends to this shop. I no longer do. $800 ($700 plus the $100 I had to pay for the core) is a lot of money. I could have taken my wife on a very nice weekend get-away but instead I had to pay another $700 to have the brakes fixed again.
