It is amazing to find a gas station that still has expert mechanics and the equipment necessary to repair cars. In addition, everyone I've met there is enthusiastic about tuning, service and maintenance. One of our cars is an EV, but they have willingly helped with a blown tire, and for our internal combustion cars, it's great being able to buy Sunoco 94 octane gas at a price that is lower than surrounding stations. Updating my review. I'm not sure what's happened from the first time I went there but ever since, I've called them for auto repairs they can't look at the car for at least a week. They had great service/prices the first time and got the car in a completed in a few days. I don't even call anymore because I can't be without a car for over a week. read more

We have had to use this place a few times. They are honest and don't play games. The fee to tow your car to their place is pretty reasonable and the staff is old school but seriously knowledgeable. They will work with you cause let's be frank car work is EXPENSIVE. It's over by East Ave Wegmans, Dunkin, McDonald's and if you need to you can catch a bus or get you an Uber/Lyft.. My family has been going to East Ave. Auto for decades with great experiences but things change. I have recently observed a number of changes with mechanics & the front desk that contributed to my final trip to EAA. My 2016 Subaru starting to flash emergency lights indicating potentially serious problems with the AT oil level/temperature. I stopped in EAA on a Monday, described the problem and asked for an early am appointment and I would wait for the car. I was given an appointment for first thing Thursday and I arrived at 7:30am. I called EAA at noon and was told my car hasn't been looked at yet. I called again at 4:30pm and was told no work on my car as been done and they need to keep it overnight. Then, I talked to the owner Paul, who said he was sorry but their scanner was tied up with another car and my car would need to stay overnight. So after 9 hours of my car sitting in their lot, nothing was done and there had been no communication with me all day. I told Paul, I would be down to pick up my car and I had to pay over $30 for Uber rides to & from East Ave. It's unfortunate but a lesson learned "Things Change". And as investment advisor ads warn you, "past performance is no guarantee of future results" Sad but very true. read more

I got a yelp just to talk about how much I love this place. It used to be right around the corner from my house. It is sadly no longer. However, they have AMAZING oil changes. Speedy and well done. I have had inspections done there for both my cars-- great and honest service. They don't try and take advantage of you and I really love that. I am a young women and many assume I don't know anything about cars (I do) but these men at East Ave are so honest I didn't have to bring out my book of knowledge! My KIA was in a hit and run accident that left the tire in shambles. I had it towed by them and brought to their garage and they got me in last minute, got me used parts as requested, and did it all without breaking my budget! I was so thankful! Horrible experience. This is the third time I came to them and was given an estimate but paid 50-100 more at times of pick up. I don't mind paying for whatever work is needed as long as it's legitimate and explained to me. Tom the service manager wouldn't directly answer my questions, and spoke so rudely to me that the Technician apologized to me afterwards and said that was just horrible and that he couldn't even understand what he was saying - and told me Im definitely not the first person this has happened to, handing me a business card. The service manager Tom had said they "did the work, and not going to argue" I paid the full amount and said I wouldn't be returning and he just walked away obviously not caring. After driving the Jeep to a plaza, I then got stranded, because the car wouldn't start (same problem - obviously not fixed). Note: during Covid so now I'm stuck w/out being able to get a ride. Took it to another mechanic who said the diagnostic code he got was a crank shaft sensor not cam shaft sensor, which makes sense considering the explanation of the problem and make/year of my vehicle) The new mechanic asked why they gave it back to me with the check engine light still on. Good question. Shame on me for returning to them. Mike, bob, many friendly employees, but dealing with Tom, the manager, was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in the service industry. read more

These guys are extremely helpful. They are always able to fit me in and have been up front and honest about what work needs to be done and what can wait. I have asked them multiple times "what would you do if it was your car" and they always give me a straight answer. This is not something I would expect at most garages. They also had by far the best prices on tires for my vehicle (most places either don't stock my size or only have high performance tires). They fixed issues with my husbands off roading vehicle that our previous auto mechanics claimed to have fixed. I have been going to East Ave. Auto for a few decades. Paul, Bob and their team are very friendly, skilled and honest mechanics. They have a loyal following and a steady flow of word of mouth new referrals. A few years back, my son drove in from Boston for Christmas and his car engine began to have major problems. I called the car dealership and they couldn't schedule an appointment for a week. So, I got the car to East Ave Auto on Christmas Eve and they determined that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. Paul searched for both rebuilt and used engines and finally found one in Syracuse. He personally drove to Syracuse, inspected the motor and his team replaced the motor in a few days during the holidays. Now, that is customer service! I called to see if they could do my first 6,000 mile checkup on my 2018 subaru, they said yes but bring warranty book so they make sure to do everything and record it. I did all that and all I got was an oil change. Also, my email to them expressing my surprise and disappointment went unanswered. Very disappointing given I've been taking my other cars including my Porsche here and they've been great. read more

East Ave Auto does a fantastic job all around. They have great customer service, they are honest, and always do a good job. I have an older car, and often I need things checked out or replaced. They were always straight forward about costs, and would tell me if I didn't necessarily have to have something replaced even if it would lose them money. They also are flexible, and are willing to take an extra second to answer any questions or just look at something and give their opinion. I really appreciate all the work they have done for me, and its a breath of fresh air compared to other auto place that often try to scam you. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. These scammers failed my girlfriend's inspection claiming she needed $800 worth of work (break rotors). Took the vehicle to a reputable shop afterwards and they passed it no problem. Browncrawft garage inspected the vehicle and said the break rotors should NOT have failed inspection. Browncrawft failed the vehicle because the rear break calipers were seized, and wanted to replace the calipers A THIRD shop passed the vehicle with no work whatsoever. This third shop also found the break calipers to be siezed but said it was not an issue that should fail inspection, and also fixed the calipers (instead of replacing) for much cheaper than browncrawft quoted to replace them. I contacted the business owner Paul who seems to think I have reported him to the DMV. I have not done that yet, but I will definitely be doing so now. read more

They made my car worse after a check and tried to make me do the repair at their auto shop. My car was having some issues starting, but it drove fine after it had been started. I had actually been driving it almost daily to/from school. But as a pre-caution I DROVE the car to East Avenue Auto for a checkup for the starting problem and left it there in the morning. In the afternoon I received a call saying they needed1.5 hours of labor for further inspection and a potential additional $600-$800 for the repair after the further inspection. I said I wouldn't want to spend that much on an old car. Then they told me my car could not be started and cannot be driven any more. WHAT?! And they didn't even feel they did anything wrong and no sympathy. They still charged me the inspection fee. I said " why should I be paying you for ruining my car? I drove it here in this morning" and they said " you can try starting it yourself. We couldn't start it." I went to try to start the car, and after a few tries it actually started and I drove it home. However, the car felt different (in much worse shape) when I was driving it home. I am not sure what they did to it. But the fact that the car actually started and this auto shop kept telling me it couldn't start really bugs me. And the fact that they charge you for making your car worse really didn't make sense. By the way, I called another auto shop for a quote of the price to repair, they are mostly in the range of $350-$500, instead of the $750-$950 East Avenue Auto quoted me. read more

Christian did an amazing job fixing our old Jetta Diesel with almost 300k miles. He fixed the turbo that caused the engine light to be on for months!. No one could fix it, but he took it as a personal challenge to get our car going again and make it inspection ready. It burns rubber now with all of its 70 Diesel hp. I recently took my car to the same place I bought the tires. I needed an inspection and the free tire rotation they offer - well, within an hour they called me back and explained that I need a rear wheel bearing and potentially a read brake drum in case "it comes apart when we remove it to replace the bearing". I asked for a price for all and then individually. Individually, if the brake drum didn't come apart, it would be 277.00, if we needed the drum too it would have been 636.00 total! That's a HUGE difference. Drums are NOT that expensive, I'd done them before myself with an older car I had. I called East Ave and he found that it would actually be cheaper to purchase the drum with the bearing in it. I took my car there LATE on a Friday afternoon, they ordered the part and had it done early Monday AM for 233.00 total, including the inspection! Why I didn't go there to begin with is beyond me - Tom is wonderful and incredibly patient and kind on the phone. They have great communication and understand that I don't have almost a grand to drop on my car like it's a drop in the bucket. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone - there is a reason they have that great reputation and if you're not a total jerk I'm sure they will treat you with nothing but respect!
