Fast and professional auto shop. They were able to evaluate my vehicle and provide sound advice within a reasonable time. I appreciated the open communication, frankness, and ability to pay online. The area is a little rough in that the strip of road leading to the shop seems like it needs regular cleaning since there was a lot of broken glass from bottles when I visited. There is no waiting area so you'll need to walk out one way or the other, and some street cleaning would help with that. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service and advice I received. read more

I chose Auto Tech based on the strong reviews at Washington Consumer Checkbook, and here on Yelp. I. Am. Impressed. I won't share the whole story here except to say that these guys are honest and efficient. I came to Auto Tech because Pohanka Lexus recommended over $2,000 worth of minor repairs. These guys could have just quoted me a lower price and made me happy. Instead, they inspected my car and told me that I truly did not need half of the repairs that the crooked dealer service manager had tried to sell me. Ralph at Auto Tech responded to my emails, answers the phone, speaks plainly and tells you what he's good at and what you'd be better off taking elsewhere. I wish that they did Virginia inspections (I understand why they don't). I wish they had a better waiting area (I understand why they don't). I wish they were a little closer to the Metro station. Solid dudes here. They have reasonable prices, and actually give you options for maintaining your car instead of acting like you need the most expensive solution to every problem. I had auto tech of Tyson's perform a pre purchase inspection on a vehicle before I took over the lease. On all prepurchase inspections I've received in past from other shops and dealers, forms are filled out noting grades/conditions and marking diagram of any body damage. With auto tech I received an invoice w 4-5 lines of text. It also noted no body damage which was not the case as there was a ding on a door and scratches on the rear bumper This is far far far from a good prepurchase inspection. At best this should have been half the price and they went as far as a state inspection which is practically useless. read more

Five Stars isn't enough to validate the dedicated and diligent work that Auto Tech provides. I've been taking my car here for years and I'm never disappointed with their professionalism and service. Ralph jr, the shop Forman, clearly has a full grasp on running this establishment. Not only was he willing to provide the estimate on the work for free but he was able to show me competitors pricing. While fielding a multitude of calls and dealing with staff onsite. Not only does this shop do a great job, they usually handle most issues in a timely manner. I've come here for breaks, regular oil changes, timing chain issues, broken control arms, etc. I've always experienced rapid turn around and in the one event it was going to take longer, they called me and updated me well before close of business. I've found this shop to have the most reasonable prices and the best service in the DC/Metro area and will be frequenting here for years to come. read more

I took my old car (about 200k miles; yeah Chrysler!) in because it was running hot and dripping coolant. The guys scheduled the work quickly and spent a good amount of time going over it. All that they found,however, was a disconnected fan cable. They warned me that it could be the gasket (as I suspected) and sure enough it ran a little cooler after the tweak but still not normal. I took it to another mechanic about a week or two later (still suspecting the gasket) who said that the coolant system was visibly corroded in multiple places: reservoir, radiator, and lines. This mechanic said that it would go soon and wasn't worth the repair. He was right on both counts. I would give them a 2, but I was contacted by Ralph in response to this posting. He asked me to evaluate his shop on its cumulative service which would be at least a 4 and so I bumped him up. Overall, Auto Tech is prompt, courteous, honest, and fairly priced. Outside of this instance - where they clearly missed the call - they've been excellent. And nobody's perfect . . . . read more

Trustworthy, reliable, honest, and accurate in their timing estimates what else could you as for in a mechanic?

My husband was in town for an interview and was trying to make it back home which is out of state. The problem was since it was so cold outside and a truck driver whose tire popped on highway when he was on his way home. Well the debris from the semu trucks tire popping it flew back at him and the debris went under his car and shattered his brake pad. They fixed the car within a few hours for a really great price. Now my husband is back on the road on his way home. My husband said that their customer service was great and that he couldn't have went anywhere else that would have been as good as they were to him. They even had puppy treats for our little furbaby. I am so thankful for their help and glad that my babies will be home very soon! Thank you so much Auto Tech for your help.
