Good experience at Meineke after bad experience at Midas. I initially took my car to Midas (Lee Highway) but felt they were upselling the transaction. They probably are used to naive customers just agreeing to pay for whatever repairs they come up with, esp when cars are often coming in because of failed inspections. At Midas, I was quoted a repair cost of $1014 for supposedly two leaks in exhaust. When I found out the genuine dealer replacement parts (cat converter/resonator combo) were only $1000, Midas suddenly tried to negotiate. When I suggested Midas' $1000+ repair cost was high considering dealer-replacement cat converter/resonator combo was only $1000, Midas became sarcastic and said "you do you", said I should come pick up the car. Then I brought the car to this Meineke who found just a single leak and repaired it for $400, all with courteous service, excellent communication and no up-selling. read more

Do not go to this shop if you value the safety of yourself and your family. I have been going to this location for years and have never had an issue. In July, I went to get a routine oil change. I was told my brakes also needed to be replaced, and I had this service done. A few days later, I was driving on the highway with my family and my brakes completely went out. Luckily, I was able to pull off the side of the road and avoid hitting anyone or anything. When my car was towed to the Jeep dealership, they told me the brake caliper was incorrectly installed. I have contacted this location multiple times through email and phone calls in an attempt to get a refund for the incorrect repair service they performed, which could have killed my family. It has been months, and no one has returned any of my emails or phone calls. read more

After moving to this region, I relied on AAA suggestions for places to go. This place doesn't appear on that list. I tried several of them and the experience was not good. I tried another Meineke in the area, I felt that I was scammed for the service. I read the Google reviews and ended up giving this place a try and hoping they were right not just farmed reviews. Well, so far my experience has been good. The customer service is good. Henry so far when my car is being serviced is quick to respond and answer my questions without being dismissive. I am aware the pricing at this location is expensive, my experience while checking other car repair shops in this region is that car repairs in the DMV are expensive. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE! I brought my car in for a taillight bulb replacement and it took over 1 hr. to complete the job. Fast forward, I noticed 2 months later that the tail light casing was broken. Looks like they tried to repair it with glue and puzzle it back together (see picture). I brought the car back and they obviously they denied everything indicating I have scratches on the side of the car. They offered to order a new tail light casing and charge me "their cost" .... which was more than what I could purchase it online for.....I would not recommend this shop, but feel free to draw you own conclusions and take your own risks. read more

Josh, Edward, Ron, Nick, and Jose are seriously THE best. they are not only professional, but all of them are also honest and friendly :)they really cares about what they do (doesn't try to push you to get anything done that isn't necessary) and great explaining when you want to know anything car related. They don't do emissions (their license is still pending) and it is best to call or make an appointment for anything (even oil changes). Ron and Nick were amazing. They did not pressure me to make repairs (AC system was faulty) and they both provided me with all the information that I needed to make an informed decision. Ron applied coupons to my service which took off $200 from the overall service. I was able to get in for a diagnostic test on Monday afternoon, decide on the repair and request it on Tuesday morning (parts received later that day), and then my car fixed that following Wednesday. I've been a regular customer at this location for almost ten years, but after a couple unfortunate incidents I will not be coming back to this shop. The technicians are okay, it's the customer service that's the problem. Our interactions with the technicians have always been transparent and good. Ron (customer service/manager) has a strange attitude about him that's borderline rude and disrespectful. On one occasion we were told the car would be ready in the afternoon. When we arrived at the store the car was still not ready, we were simply told that the technicians will be finishing up the work. So we expected 5, 10 minutes. Instead, we were waiting more than 30 minutes, and the car wouldn't start, so the technician had to fix it again while we were waiting. There were no apologies or explanations until the job was done. After the work was complete, the technician explained what happened and apologized for the delay. We appreciated this, but we noticed a pattern where when something goes awry, the technician not only has to fix the issue but also apologize to the client. Usually, you'd expect someone in the customer-facing role to serve as that communicator and ensure that the customer is provided an explanation and leaves the store pleased with the service. Unfortunately, this does not happen at this Meineke location. Ron talks down to the customer depending on who it is. We've experienced unfair treatment a few times, ignored it until now because most of our jobs were pretty urgent. But after a series of unsavory interactions, we've decided to go to look for another shop with transparent, respectful, and equitable treatment to all customers. read more

I came for a routine oil change and had one of the best service and experience ever. I was able to call on Friday to book an appointment for Saturday morning. I believe you can also schedule appointments online. They asked for the regular information and it was all set. Service is more than friendly, the people there really do care about your car and are honest about what you should or shouldn't get. When I picked up my car, Edward, the guy who helped me out, said that I had a slight leak but he had it fixed for me for no extra cost! He says it's because I got a synthetic oil change but he didn't have to and the thoughtfulness shows how genuine the people are. He also gave me a Meineke rewards card which will allow me to collect points and redeem free/discounted services as well as free towing. I went to this location (with an appointment) on a Saturday morning in order to get an estimate on some exhaust repairs for my car. I waited for about an hour until they could take a look at my car. An employee named Edward spoke to me about the repairs that needed to be done; he stated that he needed to get prices on some required parts, and he would call me back in a few days. Because I did not hear from Edward for a few days, I called Meineke and asked to speak to him; I was told by another employee that he was not available, so I left a message for him to call me back. A couple more days went by, and I still did not receive a return phone call. I called Meineke again, and this time I was connected to voice mail, so I left a message on the voice mail for Edward to call back. I never received a return phone call. By this time, I assumed that neither he nor anyone else at Meineke intended to call me back, so I took my car to Midas in Arlington, VA. I received excellent service at Midas, and they were able to fix my car that same day. Meineke's unwillingness to return my phone calls is obviously very poor customer service, and there is no way that I would ever go back there for any services. Ironically, they did me a favor because this prompted me to find another business where the customer service was great. It's too bad that Meineke had to waste my time before I found this out. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Meineke to get an oil change for my boyfriend's SUV. When I arrived at the shop, the receptionist Nicole nicely greeted me and told me that I accidentally scheduled it for Monday and not that day which was this past Saturday. She spoke with the manager/mechanic and they were kind enough to squeeze me in even though they were fully booked. The SUV promptly received an oil change and extra services for a reasonable price. I'm surprised they didn't address the Check Engine issue because the sensor was lit. Maybe it wasn't part of their oil change service. An advice would be to call them to schedule your service instead of maybe using the online scheduling system. Anyhow, they provided great customer service, a convenient location (for us) and good prices compared to other area oil change services. read more

I went to Meineke McLean to fix a loose muffler on my Versa; they offered to weld it to the mid pipe for $140 instead of replacing it with a new one for $300. When I went to get my yearly safety inspection, it didn't pass because it had a muffler leak. I went back to them (since I had a 12mo warranty) and as the facility was temporarily closed due to a fire, they directed me to Meineke Fairfax. Meineke Fairfax quoted me ~$700 (parts and labor) to do the 1  1/2 hour job of replacing the muffler and the mid pipe (replacing just the muffler only was no longer an option since with the previous fix, they welded the midpipe to the muffler). He quoted me $560 for the parts and he said he was giving me a $140 discount for the previous repair. I later found out that the retail price for the parts he provided the code and description for in his quote was $187 (online in Advance Auto Parts). When I called him back to ask about it, he boasted about being in business for 30 yrs, said that I was "penny pinching", that the parts he quoted were "better quality," and that the previous repair was my fault, as (he assumed) I told them to do that repair (?). In summary: 1.He wanted to charge me 3 times the cost of the parts for the repair, artificially inflating the price to compensate for the "warranty credit." 2.For the previous repair they did, not only did I end up paying $140 for a faulty repair, but it also resulted in having to replace the muffler and the mid pipe; doubling the cost for the fix. 3.In reality, the "supposed" warranty credit never existed, nor did they take any responsibility for it. Lessons learned: Meineke McLean/Fairfax- dishonest people you can not trust, with whom I'll never do business with or recommend to anyone. read more

Satisfaction is always their goal when they assist you from the beginning to the end. Starting from the front of the shop to the back, everyone plays a big role in your cars life and yours. Your car will come out smooth and they'll let you know of future work needed when something in your car is soon to expire. I don't usually write reviews, but my experience with Meineke was very frustrating and I felt it was necessary to share my experience from yesterday. I was under a tight time constraint and scheduled an appointment for a quick oil change. I showed up, gave them my keys and waited. My car sat out front, untouched, the first 30 minutes, and once they took it back to start the oil change it took another 30 minutes until the car was finished. The best part: my steering wheel was coated in sticky oil after my hour-long oil change was finally finished. I recognize that oil changes are typically loss-leaders for mechanics and receive a low priority accordingly, but I scheduled an appointment and over the course of the hour consistently heard the mechanic in question and the employees at the front desk casually watching TV and talking for the first 30 minutes. The entire experience was very frustrating and I would only recommend going here if you are fully aware that your scheduled, "quick" oil change might take over an hour. read more

During the oil change, they inspected my brakes (included) and informed me of an issue with front rotors. I went in for a flat tire fix and an oil change. After fixing the flat, they forgot to return my spare tire and left some tools in my car leading to me having to take an extra trip back to return the tools and get my spare tire back. Additionally, the TPMS has not worked since they fixed the flat. During the same trip, I got an an oil change. Since the experience with the flat was so sloppy, I took my car somewhere else for the next oil change. Turns out whoever was working on my car at Meineke stripped the oil plug, leading to a leak where the oil pan had to be replaced ($860 fee). I called to express my disappointment, and their response was "you should have brought it back to us and not have it fixed by someone else. Have a nice day." I needed a working car for work on Monday, so this wasn't really an option. I guess you get what you pay for. Consider this before spending your hard earned money here. read more

I believe they are dishonest! Here is my experience: 1. Went in to get bolt tightened on a muffler. 10 minutes work, they charged my $25. All well and good. 2. I was told the front shocks on my car were shot and that I needed them replaced. If I didn't do it immediately it would destroy my front suspension etc etc. Gave me an estiamte of $800 to do the work! They insisted I drop the car off for them to work on. 3. I asked if they were sure since I never saw them test anything. I saw them work on my work from start to finish. I even did the usual bounce test...but it seemed fine. Dropped my car off of at the dealer (it's a Jaguar) they gave me a loaner and said they would test it out. 4. Jaguar called me on Monday AM said their tech found nothing wrong (as I suspected) and it was infact in very good condition! 5. I called Meineke to tell them as an FYI. I assumed it was an unintentional mistake by them. But the owner picked up the phone and insisted the dealer was wrong! Said the dealer was clueless and they had done pretty extensive tests. At this point, I do not trust them even one ounce. They seem like a crooked organization to say the least. UPDATE: I got a call from them this AM (4/28). Still insisting that their diagnosis was right and the dealer was wrong! Still can't get over that I came within a whisker of wasting $800. read more

Edward did a great job describing the options for the window, which I opted not to go with but appreciated his candor. He also described some other issues with the car that I might think about in the future, without trying to sell me, which I also appreciated. It just keeps getting worse. Immediately after getting my car back, I went on a road trip and my friend who drove my car immediately noticed my steering wheel wasn't straight while driving straight. When it was my turn to drive, I noticed my steering wheel would shake at higher speeds when it never did before. So I had to go back... I couldn't even call to set an appointment because the phone number for this business is wrong online. Good thing they have an online appointment maker, right? Wrong. I made my appointment for another alignment, and when I showed up, I was told, "I can take a look at it, but our alignment guy went home, so can you drop it off tomorrow morning to get worked on?" So not only did I specifically make an appointment for an alignment and they let the only guy who could work on it go home, but I took an hour out of my work day to go in, then had to inconvenience myself another day to take my car in. Nice they offer pickup/drop off service, but not cool that there was no phone call to let me know when my vehicle was ready. I had to call Meineke customer service to get the phone number and then call myself to check in after 6hours of not hearing anything. When I called?... no answer. Left a voicemail... no response. So I called again, and was finally told it was done and I could go pick it up. We'll see how long this lasts. I wouldn't keep going back if it wasn't for the warranty on this alignment. read more

Desperate for a fix I was heading there but decided to check out Meineke instead. Glad I did!!! The guy who helped me (forgot his name but he is from Boston) was super nice and helpful! As a new customer, I was able to call ahead and schedule a same day oil change on my Nissan Rogue. No issues with the car and the maintenance needed on the vehicle was very standard. I am giving this location a 5 star rating based on their ability to stick to the scheduled appointment. I had a 1pm appointment and I was very happy that the team of professionals were able to keep me on precise schedule, a much needed accommodation for my one hour lunch break time frame. Everyone I spoke with was courteous and explained to me what my options were as far as oil services available at this location. I took my car here based on the previous reviews I saw, and I'm glad I did! I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation online for the very next day - easy process. When I got there Carter was the one who helped me - super friendly and even gave me a ride to my office about 2 miles away, he offered to pick me up too but I managed to snag a ride from a co-worker. He called me about an hour after I dropped my car off to tell me they checked the entire car and everything looked great (except for an air filter, no biggie) and it would be ready shortly. When I picked the car up, Carter had found some coupons for me which he applied to my total, totally unheard of, and very much appreciated!!
