At first it was difficult to get information over the phone and to schedule an appointment. Apparently there was one person who may have the expertise for my Subaru. Maybe there was another reason, who knows? When I was there I asked very direct questions based on my limited knowledge of my car's issues and a previous estimate from the dealership. I didn't get direct answers and basically was told they'd have to work on the car to get the full picture. I made the mistake of sharing a written estimate. They basically recommended a lot of work which would require me to spend about what was on the previous estimate from the dealer, but not the exact same work. I was primarily concerned with anything that would effect safety and just being able to depend on the car not breaking down. They recommended new tires because of rot. I hadn't seen any rot but I took their word for it. They also did some suspension work, less than what I was going to get done at the dealership. I think they wanted me to buy tires through them also but that wasn't happening. After their work, I got my car back and got new tires from Costco. I still spent a lot of money. The quality of the work was good but the service, exchange of information and overall experience wasn't good. I know a few things about cars, I just don't work on them anymore because of all of the new technology. I think I know enough to know that I probably spent a few hundred dollars more than I needed to. Good quality work but not the value that I anticipated based on the reviews.

PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor and read other negative reviews for additional information.** -Long read- I brought my vehicle in for an AC recharge and an alignment. Before bringing the vehicle in, it was quoted $80 for the AC recharge and based on the services discussed, I understood my total bill would be approximately $200. I waited at the shop for my vehicle to be serviced. When the work was done, I was quoted $290. Only then was I informed that an additional service had been performed because the system would not hold a charge. My concern was not that additional work was needed, but that no one contacted me for authorization before increasing the cost as I was sitting in the lobby and readily available for communication the whole time. The alignment experience was even more frustrating. After leaving the shop, I immediately noticed that the alignment warning light was still on, the steering wheel was off-center and the vehicle was pulling to the left. I returned right away and explained the issue to Ricardo. I was told that the alignment technician was at lunch and that I would need to wait or come back another day. When I explained that not only do I live and hour away, I had to get to work and that I did not feel it was fair for me to absorb the inconvenience of correcting work that was not completed properly the first time, I requested a refund so I could have the alignment corrected elsewhere. My request was denied. I was told that alignments are not always done correctly the first time and may require multiple attempts. As a customer, I find that explanation unacceptable. A vehicle should be test-driven and verified before being returned to the customer. Unfortunately, this was not my first negative experience with this shop. Several months ago, I brought my vehicle in for AC diagnostics on a Friday. I specifically told both Ricardo and another employee at the front desk reception that I worked multiple jobs that weekend and absolutely needed access to my vehicle after hours. Both assured me that leaving the vehicle accessible for pickup would not be a problem. When I arrived close to midnight to retrieve my vehicle, it was locked inside the shop. When I contacted Ricardo, he informed me that no one would come to the shop to release the vehicle and that I would have to wait until the next morning. He then explained that the vehicle had been locked inside for "security reasons". I communicated to him that had that information been communicated to me beforehand, I would have made different arrangements or chosen another day for service. Instead, I was left scrambling after midnight to borrow a vehicle from a friend and later had to arrange for someone else to pick up my car because my work schedule prevented me from retrieving it during business hours on Saturday. My biggest issue throughout both experiences has been the lack of communication, failure to follow through on commitments and what I felt was rude and dismissive customer service. I understand that mistakes happen. What matters is how a business handles them. It has been an extremely frustrating experience and Ricardo was extremely unprofessional! Unfortunately, based on my experiences, I will never return and I cannot recommend this shop!!

Had an issue with the turbo on our vehicle. Originally, the OBD code indicated a sensor only…read moreproblem, but quickly became a problem with the entire wastegate actuator assembly. Neighbors in the past had recommended Marks Automotive. As it turns out, he doesn't advertise and relies entirely on referrals. After looking at reviews on Yelp and Next Door, I decided to give him a call. Mark understood the OBD code issues immediately over the phone and asked me to bring the vehicle over the next morning. About an hour after leaving the vehicle with him, he called and confirmed the problem. He gave me a VERY FAIR price to make the repairs (almost $400 less than the dealership), but said that a couple of the dealerships he called did not have the part in stock and would take 4 days to get. He also said that if I wanted to make more calls and find the part before then, he'd install it and only charge me for the labor. I found ONE dealership within 50 miles that had the part, and fortunately, it was only about 20 miles away. I got the part and he installed it the same day. The wastegate actuator assembly cost me $350 and Mark charged me $110 for labor. He tested the vehicle out and told me to bring it back if there were any issues. I can honestly say that I've found my new mechanic for the maintenance issues I can't do myself. Highly Recommend!!!
