Piss poor company spent over $5000.00 and didn't make it 10 miles before vehicle over heated and had to have it towed back because they never drove it after they repaird it. read more

We brought our vehicle here needing the AC fixed! They said they "fixed" it and we paid. Still wasn't working and my car was now leaking water on top of it not being fixed. They "fixed" it again and charged us AGAIN. Thankfully the water stopped leaking from my AC but the fan still wasn't fixed. We called to confront them about them charging us twice and it still not being fixed and he said "Jesus Christ what Do you want me to do I only have two mechanics and I'm backed up I have worse problems than you do right now!" Not only do we have broken down AC/fan situation but we paid them for nothing and got chewed out in the process. I would not recommend taking your vehicle here, not only will they take your money and not fix your issue but will give you horrible customer service if you call them out on it. read more

Took my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee here after receiving a quote from Gaddis Dodge Jeep to replace my right rear axle seal for $760. Made some calls and this was the only shop I called that gave me a quote without having to call me back (none of the others ever did call me back by the way). They got it in early the next morning and only charged me $185, took payment over the phone, and I came and picked it up with the spare key that night. Have driven the car over 1,000 miles since and it is working great! Also, did not get a list of another $1,500 of work like every other shop seems to give me, even with my brand new GMC. I will be back, count on it! FYI, it does not look like much from the outside, buy hey, it's an auto shop. Do you want to pay for a fancy shop like the dealer? This place is terrible. I took my car in on March 6th to have the oil pressure sensor replaced. I had never used Automotive West before but had heard they were an alright place. They fixed my car up and I left. 10 minutes later they called me and said they forgot to put my undercarriage back on. So I had to return. I arrived and they quickly took my car to the back to put it on. It was odd because it took them like 15 minutes to just screw it back on. Eventually the old man that works in the front office came up to me and said "Don't hurt me, but I scratched your car." He took me to the back and showed me the damage. I was not mad, I just wanted him to make it right. He told me to go to Brooks Auto Body on Cornbread Rd. I stopped in there, however I had prior experience with Jones Body in Muncie so I decided I wanted to get a quote from them instead. So I did exactly that. They quoted me $593 to fix the damage because apparently you can't fix damage on a charger to the rear bumper cover unless you remove it from the vehicle. I took the estimate directly from Jones to Automotive West where their response to me took a turn for the worst. refuses to let me take it to my choice of body shop. He told me if I don't take it to where he tells me to take it to that he will not pay for the damage he did. The old man became very rude with me while I politely told him I wanted to take it to Jones Body and that I did not want to have it done at Brooks. He said "Brooks does me favors, and I do him favors. So it works out for the both of us." However, as far as I am concerned, it is legally my decision as to where I will have MY car repaired for the damage that HE did. He ended up walking away from me while I was talking and calling me "son" in a sentence he used as he did so. I am beyond frustrated and am gunning for them full fledged. Nobody damages my car and refuses to pay for it. I take too good of care of it for me to let that happen. My insurance has been notified and now there is an ongoing investigation for my claim. It is unfortunate that it had to come to this. BEWARE UPDATE: Rick, the owner, has since called me and informed me that on the day this interaction happened he was having a bad day and that he is willing to pay to let me take the car to the shop of my choice. However, he was very rude with me following these statements concerning my negative online reviews about my experience with him. Regardless, my insurance is already involved so I will have to see where to go from here. read more

Everyone at Automotive West is very friendly. We have taken several vehicles to Rick 's shop.. Every time, the service is explained in detail and completed when promised. Services seem very reasonably priced, with no unnecessary extras added on. There has never been an issue with any repairs or service; all was good. This is our 'go to' place. read more

Absolutely awful. Hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic. The OWNER yelled at me in front of his customers, didn't even fix my car, and broke my sub. It was blatantly obvious he messed it up but he continually insisted it wasn't. When I asked him about it, he got defensive right away. Then after a couple minutes of arguing he said "get out of the car now and give me the keys". He then proceeded to drive my car around (with the hood still up) and took it into his garage and shut the door with no explanation. I then went into his office and asked what he was doing with my car. He said he was holding it because he was afraid I would stop the payment and refused to give me my car back (even though I had just paid $750 when he originally told me it wouldn't be over $500). Rick is nice and friendly but not happy with how he handled my oil change. I have an Audi and called to get an estimate before making an appointment. I was told it depended on the oil used and how many quarts it took. So I told them I wanted Pennzoil. While waiting for the oil change I changed my mind and wanted to get Castrol to be consistent with the service history of the car. They told me they had already put the oil in. It was no big deal since it was Pennzoil until Rick told me they didn't put in Pennzoil like I requested but something better. Penetrex??? I went home & Googled it to find an ointment? I called him and asked for the spelling. It was Pentosin. It is approved for Audi's and the same viscosity, but not the quality. The invoice stated Pennzoil. He didn't put the oil in I requested, didn't apologize, made up a name to cover it up, yet reflected on the invoice they put it in. Not to mention my car stinks now! read more
