What should have been routine brake pad changing ended up with my sister losing function of her brakes completely the next day from a caliper coming off and therefor the brake fluid bleeding. She was towed by a nice person back to the store and the tow driver asked for JL to pay for the tow as it was apparent it was their fault. They complied. The mechanic showed my sister her caliper and instead of taking any responsibility, stated it "unalived itself". They proceeded with repairs, didn't charge labor but did charge for parts. Upon settling the bill, they put the towing fee back to her! It's such an icky thing, to take advantage of someone in that way. You think this is where the story ends but alas! The brake light came on on the way home. Took it BACK in, they checked, topped off with fluid, and sent her on her way. Their demeanor was apologetic but not enough to REFUND this botched work. Brake light comes BACK on. At this point my sweet sister goes to a trusted mechanic who discovers her brake lines have air in them. I could share more but mostly I want it to be known that the treatment of my sister was unprofessional and disappointing and the mechanic doesn't seem to be very learned in the trade of mechanics. I'm so grateful losing her brakes didn't result in injury or loss of life, but the severity could have been huge.

The price here was similar to my usual spot, but Jiffy Lube also seems to always have coupons on their website for $10-15 off! The staff were respectful and quick. They did offer me "upgrades" to my oil change, but did not present it in a way that I felt obligated to say yes. It was quick and easy. I will definitely be coming again.

The representative mentioned that another employee wasn't too thrilled about that deal. I explained that I'd been informed there was a free check available. When I asked why that didn't align, I mentioned that I didn't have enough money to cover the $101, but I assured them that I would definitely get the work done when I get paid on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025. The representative wasn't too pleased and suggested I look elsewhere. Even though he didn't want me to return, I told him I wouldn't be. As I left, I noticed the employees were laughing. I'm definitely not going back to that place. This was my first time at the Muncie location. My friends always go to a different place whenever they need their car serviced, and they've always been happy with the service they receive. I should have stuck with the original recommendation, which was Gaddis. I might pay a bit more, but at least I know I'll be well taken care of.

I did agree to add an alignment but in my haste to finally escape I hadn't asked the price. That part is on me. They agreed to split the difference on the alignment cost which was appreciated (which I told them). But, their inability to quote an even remotely accurate time frame and their subsequent indifference to customer service will keep me from ever returning. Searching online reviews, I found Vondy's Automotive had several positive reviews. They evaluated the problem and gave me a reasonable estimate and I authorized the work to be accomplished. When they called me to let me know that the work was done, I asked if they offered a military discount. They said that they did, but they had already applied the Ball State student discount, which was the same. Although I only spoke to them over the phone, I am pleased with the work that they did and wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.
