Predatory Practices and Subpar Vehicles - Beware of CARMAX…read more I'm compelled to share my terrible experience with CARMAX, particularly for women considering doing business here. They seem to prey on women with limited automotive knowledge, pushing poorly maintained, unreliable cars at premium prices, banking on the assumption we won't know better. Carmax never disclosed the fact that the engine had been repaired twice but sold me a car at full price. Carmax pulled up a car fax report stating no repairs and no accidents which is a big fat lie! I purchased a vehicle from Carmax believing their sales pitch that it was "in perfect condition." Within four months the check engine light came on. The car began breaking down. The car had a major engine recall that clearly weren't addressed prior to sale. A trusted mechanic confirmed these problems should've been DISCLOSED and FIXED before the car ever hit the lot. When I returned to discuss the issue, I was met with condescension and dismissive remarks. They refused to take responsibility or assist with repairs, leaving me stranded with a lemon. It's clear they're prioritizing profit over integrity, targeting customers they assume won't and can't push back. I urge women and others to stay away from Carmax. Find a dealership that values honesty and stands behind their vehicles. I wouldn't wish this financial and emotional stress on anyone. It's been a whole year that I have been fighting with a car that the dealership knew was a lemon. They clearly capitalized off of me and now I'm stuck with paying for a problem that I can't afford. I have brought multiple cars from this company and this is the thanks I get. As a single working mother I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Go elsewhere this place does not have your best interest I've noticed this for a whole year now. Even speaking to corporate they also have no compassion. Telling me to trade the car that they know is an issue leaves me upside down and without transportation. This is the very reason people give up in life because of predators like these people. The stress this place has caused me is insane. Save your money, time, and sanity - shop elsewhere.

I met the owner, Hussam Allo, at the cleanest, nicest looking establishment in the area and noticed upon entry some pretty nice cars on the lot. The vehicle in question was amazingly clean and confirmed to be mechanically tight by a couple of my mechanic friends, with the exception of sloppy front end, which I later learned and confirmed Hussam corrected at substantial effort and expense. The deal later concluded with a successful sale at a fair price on a fairly exotic specialty vehicle. Hussam had no problem with the car going to my friend's shop, produced CarFax docs, repair records, geographical and flood history that was confirmed. A man of his word, he operates with his wife, a clean and reputable auto brokering business that I would recommend for consideration. One more tip-of-the-hat to the small business man making' it and providing a valuable service in the community.

I had been working with a salesperson to locate the truck I was interested in purchasing, and up until the day we intended to finalize the deal, everything seemed to be progressing smoothly. On the day of closing, I was at the Credit Union obtaining my pre-approval for the purchase. I explained to salesperson that the branch would be closing within an hour and that I would not be able to physically deliver the check that evening but could provide it first thing the following morning. The salesperson assured both me and the credit union representative that this would not be an issue. He specifically stated that as long as the check was issued and submitted the next day, we would still be able to complete the transaction that evening. Based on those assurances, he instructed us to come to the dealership to sign the paperwork and finalize the deal. My wife then rushed to Santa Fe to pick up our children from summer camp and immediately drove to the dealership with our children so we could complete the purchase that evening. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the salesperson completely reversed his position. He informed us that the only way to complete the deal that night was to submit a credit application and obtain financing through the dealership because the cash payment had to be physically in-house before the deal could close. When I reminded him of our earlier conversation and the assurances he had provided, he insisted that dealership financing was the only option available. At that point, I politely thanked him for his time and left. The situation directly contradicted what had been communicated to us and left us both feeling misled. Two days later, the Sales Manager contacted me to apologize for how the situation had unfolded and stated that he still wanted the opportunity to earn my business, despite the truck I had intended to purchase having been sold on Saturday, June 27. I was confused by this statement because I had been at the dealership attempting to purchase that truck on Tuesday, June 30. I asked how that could be possible if the vehicle had allegedly been sold days earlier. Saul maintained that the truck had been sold, which only raised additional concerns about why I was being encouraged to purchase a vehicle that was no longer available. While I left the dealership on June 30th, I was frustrated. By the time I spoke with the sales manager , I was simply at a loss for words. He assured me he would follow up within a day or two, but I never heard from him again. I have purchased vehicles before and have worked with a number of dealerships over the years, but I have never experienced this level of miscommunication, conflicting information, and lack of follow-through. What began as a promising sales experience ultimately left me feeling that my time, trust, and effort were not valued. I felt it was important to share this feedback so that potential customers are aware of how this situation was handled and the impression it left on a potential customer.
