I wanted to take a moment to share my recent experience with AutoNation Chevrolet, as it was one of the most disappointing vehicle purchasing experiences I have encountered. I had been working with a salesperson to locate the truck I was interested in purchasing, and up until the day we intended to finalize the deal, everything seemed to be progressing smoothly. On the day of closing, I was at the Credit Union obtaining my pre-approval for the purchase. I explained to salesperson that the branch would be closing within an hour and that I would not be able to physically deliver the check that evening but could provide it first thing the following morning. The salesperson assured both me and the credit union representative that this would not be an issue. He specifically stated that as long as the check was issued and submitted the next day, we would still be able to complete the transaction that evening. Based on those assurances, he instructed us to come to the dealership to sign the paperwork and finalize the deal. My wife then rushed to Santa Fe to pick up our children from summer camp and immediately drove to the dealership with our children so we could complete the purchase that evening. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the salesperson completely reversed his position. He informed us that the only way to complete the deal that night was to submit a credit application and obtain financing through the dealership because the cash payment had to be physically in-house before the deal could close. When I reminded him of our earlier conversation and the assurances he had provided, he insisted that dealership financing was the only option available. At that point, I politely thanked him for his time and left. The situation directly contradicted what had been communicated to us and left us both feeling misled. Two days later, the Sales Manager contacted me to apologize for how the situation had unfolded and stated that he still wanted the opportunity to earn my business, despite the truck I had intended to purchase having been sold on Saturday, June 27. I was confused by this statement because I had been at the dealership attempting to purchase that truck on Tuesday, June 30. I asked how that could be possible if the vehicle had allegedly been sold days earlier. Saul maintained that the truck had been sold, which only raised additional concerns about why I was being encouraged to purchase a vehicle that was no longer available. While I left the dealership on June 30th, I was frustrated. By the time I spoke with the sales manager , I was simply at a loss for words. He assured me he would follow up within a day or two, but I never heard from him again. I have purchased vehicles before and have worked with a number of dealerships over the years, but I have never experienced this level of miscommunication, conflicting information, and lack of follow-through. What began as a promising sales experience ultimately left me feeling that my time, trust, and effort were not valued. I felt it was important to share this feedback so that potential customers are aware of how this situation was handled and the impression it left on a potential customer. Instead of being normal, and selling me a car, they want to be greedy and so they sold nothing. (my negative experiences are with the finance guys; shady ah. Not so good communication and feels like they're also hiding something, which they were. I had to call back twice to find out that the vehicle I test drove had to get the engine replaced. On March 26, 2025, I went out of my way to reach out to Aui, a partner from AutoNation who supposedly knew about a program I was pre-approved for to get vehicles for my fleet. She then contacted AutoNation Chevrolet on Gulf Freeway and assured me that someone would get back to me the next day to go over the vehicles. But what happened? Silence. Crickets. I waited in frustration, only to have no one respond. So, I called again on March 31st, 2025, trying to schedule with Shawn Alanis. On April 2nd 2025, I finally stepped into the office, only to be immediately thrown off to some other salesman, Eiron Lopez, who showed me the vehicle I was interested in. I tried to hold onto some hope and contacted Brian Nicholson, the general manager, to voice my outrage about the whole experience. Samuel Guerrero, one of their employees, then emails me asking how he could help. I repeatedly called him; he promised he'd return my call, but nothing. I told him my representative was trying to close the deal, and he said he'd get in touch with his finance department--yet from April 4th 2025 onward, all I received were silence and dead ends. I emailed Brian again on April 4th 2025 and April 7th,2025 asking for answers, but got absolutely nothing. Still no response, no explanation--just ignored. Desperate, I texted Eiron to find out what was going on. He told me everything had been sent back to George, the finance director. When Steven Richard, the sales manager, finally called me on April 9th 2025, I explained the situation one last time. He gave me his personal number, which I handed over to my representative with my pre-approval, and I told him I would come in on April 10th 2025 to close this deal. But what did I get? More empty promises, unanswered calls, and messages, until I finally decided to go to the office myself on April 11th 2025. Eiron Lopez then coldly informed me that no one would be available until Monday because all the finance staff was out. I asked if the vehicle would be held for me, and he said yes--so I patiently waited. On Monday, April 14th 225, I called Eiron three times and left multiple messages, eager to finish what I started. When I arrived at the office, guess what? Eiron was unavailable, and the person I finally spoke with coldly informed me that the vehicle I was promised would be held was already sold. This was nothing short of a nightmare, by far the worst, most disrespectful, unprofessional experience I have EVER had with any business. This mess was a complete failure on every level. And let me make this clear: I do NOT recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are African American. The treatment I received was unacceptable and shows a blatant disregard for customer dignity and respect. read more

They have the worst customer service...i purchased a car from them, not even a hr after having the vehicle, the splash guard came off damaging my front bumper/finder...pulled back up to the dealership only to be told that they would order a new splash guard that still hasn't came in, its been 3.5months not to mention 3weeks after purchasing the vehicle, the fuel injector went out, it was covered under the factory warranty but i still had to come out of pocket $300 for something that the warranty didnt cover. Amongst these two incidents after me pulling up 2months later to check the status of my splash guard, i spoke with the sales manager Nick who was full of crap and insured me that i would hear something within a few days about the splash guard...it has now been OVER A MONTH and i still havent heard anything in regards....and i had also spoken with Omar who is a lead over in the service department, who has also given me the run around. With that being said, you guys need to work on your customer service and make sure that the vehicles are 100% ready to drive off instead of just tweaking to get a sale! read more

If I could give this dealership zero stars, I would. Please reconsider before purchasing a vehicle here. I purchased a 2020 Chevrolet truck in May. During the buying process, I was not informed until the deal was nearly finalized that the truck was not ready. I came in on the 17th, but the vehicle was not available for pickup until the 29th -- this should have been the first red flag. The dealership claimed they had replaced the brakes, but I immediately noticed the lug nut key was missing. Despite contacting them multiple times to request a replacement, I could not get anyone to respond or place an order -- the second red flag. Unfortunately, my truck was later stolen. While working with my finance company and insurance provider, I discovered that AutoNation Gulf Freeway had still not transferred the title into my name -- even after more than 90 days -- nor had they released it to the finance company. I have repeatedly called asking to speak with a manager, only to be told "they're busy and will call you back." No one ever returns the call. I have also sent multiple emails with no response. This lack of professionalism and accountability has caused serious issues and unnecessary stress. Buyers should proceed with caution. read more

I would not buy from this dealership. They sold a truck out from under me. The sales manager signed a letter of guarantee from my lender and I was in constant communication with them the whole time. They had my ID, insurance, signed purchase order, letter of guarantee from my credit union, email from my loan officer that stated I was in the way with a cashiers check and would not honor it only because they had another customer who was doing in house financing with them and autonationwill make more money on the sale that way. read more

I opted to not buy from this dealer because of their shady sales practices. First, I will note I live outside the HTX metro, in DTX so I would be looking at flying into HTX and driving the vehicle home. The advertised price however was good enough to offset that inconvenience. First the good, the Sales Rep, Steven was helpful, he was attentive and worked to keep me up to date at all times. The reality comes down to less-than-desirable sales tactics, which one may call shady, or bait-and-switch. The vehicle was listed at one price, and when the sales form was drafted, they added over 21% to the price in options. Fine, options can be declined, right? No, they have already "added these options" to the vehicle so they have to be charged. So, let's say, they are no longer options, and the base price is 21% higher than advertised. This is bait-and-switch, no other way to call it. I worked with them on this because I do like the vehicle, and even offered a final out-the-door price that was higher than it should have been based on the ADVERTISED price. They declined and countered with just under a 14% hike over the ADVERTISED price, that is when I thanked the team and decided to turn my attention to a local dealer that has better practices. read more

I've bought a Truck from here before and never had a issue, then I traded my truck in and everything went downhill from there. The service team had already been declining before the trade and their communication is horrible, they sold me a car that wasn't fully paid off so me and my bank have been waiting for the title and registration for 4 months and they kept telling me they don't handle the registration when the tax office said that they should be handling it all, then I see a mail coming to my address with the registration in it but they did not put my whole address on the mail so it was returned to them, I call them all the time calmly to figure out what's going on and they give me the run around and never contact me about anything they find out if they even tried to figure anything out on either the status of my registration, where it's at, nothing. Then when I start to get frustrated and tired of them giving me the run around and not helping me and I get on them about it and they say that maybe they don't want to help me because I'm upset? So why didn't they help me when I wasn't upset and aren't I upset because they keep messing up literally every step of this transaction. My bank has been calling them as well and they can never get through. Worst experience and I don't remember the guys name but he answered the phone with an attitude and was cursing at me and changed his tone once I said I would come up there. These guys are horrible. This dealership is no longer a good location to buy vehicles. They are rude in all departments and no one knows anything unless it's gonna help them with getting a sale or making the dealer money. They mess up and treat you like it's your fault and expect you to beg them and kiss their axx for them to help you. This location is the worst! I wish I could give it no stars! read more

Who would pay almost $3,000 to diagnose a car? Manager Oscar is a crook, he doesn't train the service rep William on how to communicate with clients, I asked for a supervisor he gave me a fake number first, then 2nd number to a corrupt guy Jonathan Brinson. Needs a better service department.... I had 3 tires put on by them and had to take my vehicle back for a service to put my tires on correctly since they were put on incorrectly by them and my rims were scratched in the process and they tried to hide it by marking over it with a black marker. One of my tires had a gash on it as well after I received it. I received a call from them after given them a bad review and was told they would fix the rims/tire and provide me with a rental car. I have not received a call back after I called them twice about setting an appointment to bring it in to fix their mistakes. The service center manager did not seem interested in helping (no friendly attitude) which made him seem careless and unpleasant. read more

The service advisor Omar lied to me and said they needed 24/48 hours to diagnose the problem with my vehicle. I rented a car for 2 days and when I went to pick up my vehicle, they never even got around to looking at it and Omar said they needed more time. So I'm out the $120 I spent on a rental for nothing. I've been to this dealership before, they took quite a while for an oil change but overall wasn't a bad experience. Tried to get a break change and someone to simply look and see if they need replacing in front and back. I was told it takes an entire day 24 hrs to get that done with no transportation available for the repairs. The Day before I was told they would be able to have it done within four hours so I could pick it up after work and continue life. Would not recommend this place, will not return read more

Unfortunately it was impossible for anyone to take responsibility, they didn't answer the phone, and no one gave us a concrete answer. The warranty time passed and we couldn't get them to comply with what was agreed. At the time of purchase they offered us that instead of a discount they would give us a check refunding the amount corresponding to the discount, 6 months later still no one knows what has happened and Brian (the new bully manager) is a rude person who responds in a very aggressive manner, probably with the intent to intimidate to avoid taking responsibility or solve any issues. AutoNation is the perfect example why people hate dealerships. Car dealers have a reputation for a reason. They don't really care about their customers IMO. They just want as much money as they can squeeze out of you. AutoNation almost didn't honor agreements they put in writing. They use bait and switch tactics. They even left me financially on the hook for multiple weeks for my trade-in, even though that same vehicle was for sale on their lot. It's not fun getting multiple late payment notices for a vehicle that AutoNation agreed to take responsibility for. They didn't like to return my multiple voicemails after I purchased the vehicle. Why would they? They already had my money. I was wrong thinking I'd get any sympathy speaking to a manager. Just a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad experience. All around. I got a recall on my vehicle for the possibily the air bag may rupture if it deploys throwing shards of metal potentially killing the driver and passengers. Chevrolet Dealership there's nothing they can do due to not having a party available to fix the vehicle I'm currently paying for. Sales Associate stated that the recall has been around for roughly 7 years and I just bought this vehicle a year ago. Their answer was we will call you when we have it so you can bring your vehicle so the expect me to drive this vehicle that may or may not be part of the faulty batch and pay to God that in case of an accident this aire bag won't kill me or my children. Terrible service! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! It's been an on off problems with this place. I'd give this dealership a zero if possible. After an exhaustive search online. I found a used Toyota Tacoma for my son. I contacted the dealer, Auto Nation Chevrolet Gulf Freeway via phone and was told the truck was available. A little back and forth about having the truck shipped to me and I agreed to purchase the truck. I signed the dealer sheet outlining the price of the truck including shipping and sent it back. It was received and the salesman, Christian Hernandez, confirmed receipt and asked for my driver's license and another form of ID to proceed. I sent it immediately. Since I was using USAA auto finance for the deal and I'm out of town, Mr. Hernandez said I needed to go to a local auto nation to sign the paperwork. I told him where and when I would go (which was within 24 hours of him telling me this). I arrived at the Auto Nation local dealer, and phoned Mr. Hernandez to say this auto nation didn't have the paperwork. He indicated he would send it over shortly. I even had their finance manager talk to Mr. Hernandez on how best to send the paperwork over so he could expediate the paperwork once he got it. I went to run a quick errand while I waited on the paperwork (because who wants to sit in a dealership) and about 20 minutes later, I get a text from Auto Nation Gulf Freeway, Mr. Hernandez salesman, that says "turns out someone this morning from another ford store down the road sold the Tacoma to a customer in house". So what Mr. Hernandez is saying, 1. I never valued you as a customer. 2. I didn't care whether you wanted to buy the car or not. 3. and that this promise they stick on their website is worthless: "To be an industry leader, you have to do the small things in a big way, and they've all added up to the highest reputation score in auto retail for AutoNation. We are America's most admired automotive retailer, with the most J.D. Power Dealers of Excellence in the country. It's all because our Associates deliver a Customer experience beyond compare. That means you can always count on AutoNation to take care of your needs, whether you're buying a vehicle or servicing the one you have. After all, the small things make the difference between a good visit and a great one." Or the difference between a happy customer and one that is mad as hell. Sorry for the long review, but customers need to understand who they are dealing with and how salespeople feel about making and keeping customers happy. Unfortunately, Mr. Hernandez and Auto Nation Gulf Freeway failed and have lost my business not only with their dealership but auto nation as a whole. I came here to buy a vehicle. Agreed on a price with the manager. Went in to grab the paperwork for my bank. While i was gone they sold the vehicle. They didn't tell me but when i came in to get the paperwork for that vehicle someone was already in the process of buying that truck. Instead of telling me while i was there, they still gave me the paperwork, knowing that I wouldn't be able to get that truck anymore. They told me when i got back that the truck was sold. Their response was "first come first serve" and they didn't even apologize, This shady behavior and lack of professionalism make me strongly advise against doing business with this dealership. read more

I just bought a pre-owned car here. The salesman was Manny Diaz. I had no major problems with him, he is very nice guy and answered all my questions. Autonation is like Carmax or Texas Direct Auto, they list a no-haggle price and you either take it or leave it. I was interested in a vehicle they had. The price was decent; of course it could always be better, but considering it was a recent year model and decently equipped, I thought it was ok. I was concerned about the large amount of miles it had on it for its age, but during the test drive and inspection I could not find anything wrong with it other than some minor cosmetic blemishes that are to be expected when you buy a used car. I could see no signs of having been in an accident and the engine sounded fine. There were signs of perhaps a bumper kiss on the rear, and a small scrape on the left rear wheel well, but nothing serious. So I bit on the deal. The paperwork was easy, as it is now in most places with a process automated by computer. From the moment I arrived to minute I left I think the whole thing was just over two hours. So why just three stars? Because these guys had opportunities to distinguish themselves from other dealerships and didn't. The finance guy, of course, pushed for extended warranties, although not too hard, and actually for used cars I usually like to pick up a little extra protection even though a lot of these bums never want to pay when you have an issue; we'll see how Autonation is if I ever need something - at least their policy is a first-party warranty. Other than that, finance went ok, the guy was not rude and when I said I didn't want gap insurance he complied. But there were a couple other items that I found disappointing. First, the price on the website had just dropped and that was the one I was expecting to pay. When we started up the paperwork, Manny's document showed an older price that was higher. I mentioned that was the wrong price, and he could not find it at that price on his system. I had to pull up the listing on my phone from THEIR website. Manny, again, was good to me and honored the price, but we got a story from the sales manager about the price being up because the car was about to be transferred to a different location. I did see on their system that the car had already been earmarked for a Katy store, so maybe that story was true. But it was keystone cops for a few minutes while we wondered what happened with that price. Second, Autonation has a 5-day "no questions asked" return policy. If you decide you don't want the car, you can return it anytime within five days and they'll void the deal. I bought the car after work in the middle of the week, and wouldn't be able to get back to the dealership until the weekend to get the car. I asked if the 5 day policy could be shifted to begin when I took possession of the car...sounds reasonable, no? Well, Manny thought so too, but the sales manager said no. Manny salvaged this by offering to deliver the car to me the next day. There was an unexplained delay that kept the car from being delivered until two days in, but I realize this still represented time an effort on Manny's part so I'm thankful for his efforts even though I'm still amazed they could not make a tiny adjustment on the five-day policy. Third, I took time after the car was delivered to drive and inspect it some more. They did wash it on the outside, but the inside was dirty. They appear to have vacuumed it, but I went in with my own gear and cleaned up traces of food and spilled drinks off the console and panels. I know, it's a used car, and few places will treat it like you would your own, but come on man, you understand when I say it's still a little disappointing. The second key was missing, but the card did have the owner's manual and security card. I also figured out that the car was a former rental based on some documents left in the glove compartment. It was not something that was obvious in any of the sales information, even the Carfax. Again, I was satisfied with my inspection, but if I knew it was a rental I might have looked at a few other cars first. So in the end..."meh." Manny was helpful and gets a thumbs up; he probably saved the sale. But lots of other little things about the deal left me thinking this shop was just like the rest of them. Management didn't make me feel like they were on my side and trying to help make a deal; I felt rather that I was in inconvenience to them even though I'm the guy shoveling out cash for a used car that they probably didn't do much work on. read more

We were selling two of our vehicles and had done the Kelley blue book offers on them ahead of time and forwarded it to the dealership along with 2 other dealerships, we went to autonation first unfortunately and they offered us LESS THAN HALF of what the KBB offer we had been sent was. We drove 15 minutes away to another dealer and received the exact amount of the KBB offer. This place is a sham and trying to take advantage of people to line their pockets. Had to pay up front for the part ( no big deal) and to bring my car back when the part arrived. Part arrived, took my car in for service, then was told the part did not fix my air bag light. They basically just scanned the airbag code and didn't bother to properly diagnose the issue. Was told they would refund the money for the part and that they would call me to bring my car back to get fixed. Never called me back and two months later never received my refund. I just can't believe the horrible service. We live in Spring Texas. We saw a car we wanted to buy online so of course we called to make sure it was there before we make the hour drive. We spoke to Sam Guerrero. He said yes the car is there. He said call if you come now and we will get it ready for you. We called right when we left our house. One hour later we show up and Sam won't even talk to us and we are given the run around how this car is at another dealership and they're fighting back and forth trying to get it back. Why??? Seriously. Why not just tell us the truth? So horrible. I would Never buy a car from someone that can't be honest up front. You just lost a commission. We were going to buy that car!!! Was totally insulted by a law ball - and I mean LOW BALL offer for my Kia Rio Hatchback. One owner, no wrecks, lots of extras, 4 new tires, etc. I knew it wasn't perfect buy hey it's 9 yrs old. They offered me $1,200! What a joke! The car is worth more, and to prove what a horrible disrespectful thing they did, I went on the same day to a nearby dealership and got more than triple that amount, and I was treated respectfully with the process. The guy who came over to tell me what they were offering was able to look me in the eye and tell me that's all they could do because it was going to cost them so much to fix it up. Ha! Now, why is Yelp saying they have 3 stars? All I see are horrible 1 star reviews. And, it took at least 45 minutes for them to give me a quote. First, Brent Schoppa is a liar. Very first thing I asked him is if the vehicle I emailed him about had Apple Car Play. He reached out imediately via email. I made an appointment with him via text, just as he asked, when I show up he responds, " I'm surprised you showed up." Guess what? No Apple Car Play in the vehicle. Which was a huge deal breaker that I wouldn't have made the appointment & skipped lunch to keep. HE made excuses about reading that somewhere about the car, "blah, blah, blah," THEN, he didn't even know how to let down the top of the convertible and work basic functions such as bluetooth, etc. I let him know I was hungry because I skipped lunch to make my appointment. My disappointment is basic attributes of a good salesman lead me to request, a 24HR test drive to make my decision & handle things on my end. Like if I even liked the car without his lies and incompetence, liked the way it drove, time to reach out to my bank, insurance quotes, etc. He didn't offer me a beverage or anything, just said "he wished he had some peanuts for me." Super weird. He made me wait for over an hour to work up a deal (because this was what was needed to "bail me out." I guess that's what a 24HR test drive is called at this establishment, "a bail out????" He then made a deal with numbers that were estimates and not what I told him I was already approved for from my personal bank. I never got the test drive. I know he lied about even asking. Then his managers told me I could reserve the car. I was frustrated by the lack in comprehension of the communications I offered him, which lead me to leave with intention of trying again the next day. It was 8pm by then 3/3 0/21, I told him I would be in touch between 12-12:30 on my lunch break the next day 3/31/21 with my decision. He started texting me at 11:00am (about my decision way earlier than the agreed upon time that I would reach out, which he said was a "great time and I'll hide the car in the back for you lol") I asked how to reserve the car.
