We were told that the warranty functioned like a bumper-to-bumper warranty, that our only out-of-pocket cost for covered repairs would be a $100 deductible, and that the primary exclusion was normal wear and tear. Within days of purchasing the vehicle, warning lights came on and the car began experiencing significant mechanical issues. BMW documented multiple engine-related problems, and AutoNation performed some repairs. Unfortunately, the vehicle continued to experience serious issues, eventually resulting in catastrophic engine failure that now requires an engine replacement estimated at nearly $29,000. The most shocking part of this experience came when we filed a claim under the warranty we had paid nearly $5,000 for. We were informed that the warranty would cover only about $3,900 of a $29,000 engine replacement. After paying thousands of dollars for what we believed was comprehensive protection, we were devastated to learn that the coverage amounted to less than what we had paid for the warranty itself. What has been equally frustrating is the lack of accountability throughout this process. We have encountered inconsistent explanations, difficulty obtaining complete service records, and months of trying to get straightforward answers without a meaningful resolution. We purchased both the vehicle and the extended warranty in good faith, expecting that if a major mechanical failure occurred, we would be protected. That has not been our experience. We understand that used vehicles can develop unexpected problems. What matters is how a dealership responds when those problems arise. We expected honesty, transparency, and support. Instead, we have spent countless hours trying to understand what happened while still being left without a fair resolution. TRASH TRASH TRASH!!! BEWARE BEFORE BUYING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! My husband and I purchased a 2020 Ram 2500 in August 2025. Within the first week, the truck began experiencing mechanical issues. We brought it in for service, and it remained there for nearly a week. We were told the issue had been repaired, but only a few weeks later we were stranded in Houston for four days because of the exact same problem. Since we were in the Houston area, we took the truck to AutoNation Katy, and they were actually able to diagnose and fix the problem. We ended up paying thousands of dollars out of pocket because every time we tried to make a claim, we got the runaround and were told, "Unfortunately, the Gold package does not cover that particular part." Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. Since returning home, we've continued to experience issue after issue with this truck. As of today, we are still dealing with ongoing problems, and we haven't even owned the vehicle for a full year. To make matters worse, communication with this dealership has been extremely frustrating. Phone calls are transferred to voicemails, messages are not returned, and reaching a manager has been nearly impossible. If you decide to visit in person, be prepared to spend hours waiting with little to no communication or assistance. The most disappointing part of this experience has been the lack of accountability and customer support. We have given this dealership multiple opportunities to address our concerns, but we continue to get the runaround and have received no meaningful resolution. Purchasing this truck has been one of the most frustrating vehicle-buying experiences we've ever had. Buyer beware. My experience with AutoNation on I‑10 in San Antonio has been one problem after another, and I want other people to know what they're walking into. I came in on August 12, 2025 to trade in my 2005 Dodge Dakota. The sales rep who helped us openly mocked my trade‑in offer with other employees - and did it within earshot of my partner and my stepson, who is on the spectrum. He also ran multiple credit checks for the wrong vehicle even though I clearly indicated which car I wanted. When I pointed out the mistake, he tried to blame us. The next day, the GM told me the rep had been fired, but the general sales culture behind the customers' backs was clear as day. Two days after buying the vehicle, it broke down with a critical engine error. I was told I'd be reimbursed immediately for towing, but it took five weeks and several follow‑ups to get the check. The car sat in their shop for a week for repairs that should have been caught before the sale. After that, the sales rep assigned to me stopped responding entirely. About two months later, the check engine light came on again. When I reached out, I was told to take it to a Ford dealership because AutoNation "wasn't going to touch it," even though the vehicle was still under warranty. Then in February 2026, I found out the dealership never registered the vehicle in my name. I had been unknowingly driving an unregistered car for six months. Only after multiple follow‑ups did they finally fix it. On March 17, 2026, the vehicle broke down again, likely a transmission failure. At this point, it's clear the car wasn't properly inspected before being sold, and the dealership consistently avoided responsibility for anything that happened after the sale. I'm sharing this so others don't end up in the same situation. There's a pattern here, and people deserve to know before they spend their money. I have documentation to back up all of the above, and I have submitted reports to the DMV and the BBB. I've waited a year to give a review to see how my experience was with the business. If you travel a lot, DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE. EX.) If you live in the rim area and for some reason have work on the other side of San Antonio (south east, North East), your limited warranty (90 days) and Vehicle protection plan warranty will expire within a year. These people take forever to get back with you about simple questions you ask. I only had a car that I purchased here for year and my transmission went out told by the actual Toyota dealership and I cannot do anything about it because my vehicle protection plan warranty expired 6,000 miles ago. For stats, on average in Texas drivers are traveling around 16,000 miles a year. The warranty covered 24,000 or 24 months. We live in SAN ANTONIO with bad traffic, going down back roads to same time, and or just has to go to work on the other side of town. I do not recommend buying a used car here please just go to a normal brand name dealership for a brand new car or used certified car. read more

I Filled out a quote request online. Immediately got a text message saying they wanted to buy my Jeep. I assumed it was a robot texting me after having a recent bad experience down the road. It wasn't a robot though. It was Kiyy Johnson, a representative from Auto Nation just a few miles from where I was parked. She was very responsive and extremely professional and polite. An absolute dream to work with. She got me a fair offer for my Jeep and I walked out the door with a check about an hour and a half after I arrived just as promised. I enjoyed the whole process with Auto Nation as opposed to the place down the road that wanted to give me a price without seeing my vehicle, and they wouldn't even open the door of their business to see me unless I made an appointment online. Auto Nation made selling my car easy. They examined the car, test drove it, and made a very competitive offer. It's a great vehicle and I'm sure they will make the new buyer just as happy as I am. My husband bought a 2016 Porsche Cayenne from AutoNation USA less than a year ago. From day one, the high engine oil warning light was on. I put $675. down on a 2012 Ford Escape at Auto Nation San Antonio who recommended this car that was in AutoNation Austin. I went up to Austin to test drive it and had some concerns about the transmission. When I came back to pay the remaining amount after AutoNation San Antonio brought it down from Austin they demanded to rewrite the contract and recind the "Limited Warranty" on the contract I had signed and sell the vehicle "As is." They offered no reduction in price. Both AutoNation Austin and AutoNation San Antonio cheat their customers knowing a car with 130k miles needs some kind of limited warranty beyond their ridiculous multipoint inspection of who knows what. read more

Saw a QX80 2019 on there web page for there car lot. After 3 failed attempts to talk to someone. One nice gentlemen said he would send me a pre qualification form. I bought a SUV ( Black on Black QX80 ) back In August 26 2023 from Auto Nation Ford in Arlington Texas. The vehicle was physical located at Auto Nation U.S.A. San Antonio. Purchased the vehicle 8/26/2023 on a Saturday morning at 10:30 am. Now I'm just waiting for delivery of the vehicle. To only find out after I bought it the dealership in San Antonio ( Auto Nation U.S.A. ) had sold the vehicle I purchase days before. Spoke to the general manager Nathanial Walt of the Auto Nation U.S.A. San Antonio and he was very rude in saying. What do you want me to do about it. As if since it was still on his lot. He had the right to sale the vehicle. Due to the negligence of Auto Nation U.S.A. I was not able to obtain another vehicle with a low down payment of $1300 as I had did with there dealership. Everyone wanted $4000-$7000 down payment. Auto Nation Ford try to work with me but wasn't trying hard enough to please me as a customer. So I have been hit with inquiries on my credit report without having the vehicle I purchased from them. The lack of effort to rectify the issue has just been sweep under the rug by Auto Nation. Buying this vehicle was to insure that I can continue doing Uber black with a vehicle that was up to date on the year. I dodged a bullet from buying at an Austin, TX location. Very sad experience dealing with a salesperson who speaks out of both sides of their mouth. I wasted a full day and over $100.00 traveling to check out a truck they were prepping for me. According to my most knowledgeable, non-customer service skilled, answer for everything salesperson, there was a siltation of a spark plug that needed to be changed which has to be ordered because AutoNation is a huge company and that's the way they do it. And, I'm not allowed to speak to the mechanic regarding the truck I was coerced into making a down payment on over the phone the day before - because that's AutoNation's policy as well. The shoot from the hip - answer for literally everything salesperson surprisingly made the whole experience 10x worse by apparently following the AutoNation procedures. When I returned the car, after taking it to another dealership for alignment, frank assured me they would overnight my cash payment (over 26,000) but its been over a week now and he hasn't responded to my last text. The car cannot be fixed according to autonation in Austin... you would think this company would inspect its cars before selling them. Fyi, the car was sold for over 40,000 and only had 3000 miles. They hound you and hound you and call you every 4 hours if you show interest in buying a car, and then once you do and they have your money, it's impossible to get someone, especially a manager, on the line. They gave me a good deal on the car, so I'll give them 2 stars, but do not expect any follow up customer support from them, which is a big problem when you run into unexpected issues with the car or the title transfer process, which as we all know is heavily delayed these days due to DMV issues. read more

First I should say, I did not complete the buying process with AutoNation. However, my shopping experience was so positive I felt I should add a different point of view to these reviews. In my experience working with the staff there, they were all very pleasant, painless, and professional. I was first contacted by Paul who works in the car purchasing department. He sent me a very attractive purchase quote so I scheduled an appraisal. Paul was out when I arrived, so I worked with Rajiv. He came back with the same quoted purchase price but told me he could probably go a little higher. This was regardless of whether I wanted to buy from them. So far so good. Both very professional gentlemen. Trenton Donald was my sales rep and he was fantastic! I would definitely reach out if I were interested in another car. AutoNation made the highest purchase offer I received on my trade in by a fair amount. My Subaru sales rep even told me AN is the most competitive in terms of buy back, and AN beat Subaru by $1500 on my 2021 Outback. From what I have been told. they're likely to make the best offer on your car, regardless if you want to just sell or trade with them. Worth getting a quote for sure. AutoNation's cars on the lot are a "one price" so there's not any negotiation there. The good news is, they don't tack on a bunch of hidden fees and shadow dealer costs. I did pay some extra fees at the other place. I bought there because I found a great deal, which in this market, was a stroke of good fortune that I couldn't pass up. That other dealer gave me $2K less than AT offered for my trade in, but I was able to negotiate a great bottom line price. I would have bought through AutoNation if they had the exact model I wanted anywhere near the price I paid. One of AutoNation's benefits is they can move cars around their dealerships in the region. Traditional dealerships will not do this. This is probably why the car got moved that the people wanted to see in another review. I feel badly they had such an awful experience, but I would chalk some or most of that to plain bad luck. I do agree that dealers should communicate, but you also need to let them know (if) you're serious and not just a tire kicker. Keeping cars stocked is a problem that ALL dealers have right now. Several dealers told me it's such a dry market, buyers will beat you to the sale if you don't act fast. Like within hours or minutes, it is that competitive for in-demand cars. This makes it harder for us to shop and test, so once you decide exactly what you want and the price range you can afford, move on it. out I used AutoTrader and a few of the other big auto sales sites to get a feel for what the car(s) I wanted were going for. At AutoNation, Trenton Donald was my sales rep. He is a great guy, very friendly and honest, and a retired firefighter, so he takes the word service seriously. You will get no BS from him and he loves cars as much as anyone. We bonded over off-roading and sports cars. :) I was kinda sad that I couldn't buy a car from him. If you're looking, I suggest you give Trenton and try AutoNation a try. They might not have the absolute lowest price, but the sweet trade-in offer, attentive service and painless, hassle-free experience are all pretty awesome. read more

Set up an appointment after agreement was made over the phone. Drove the truck in and the guy on the phone isn't there which I knew was shady. Another guy comes out to grab the keys and take my truck on a 10 mile drive without even asking me about any details. They ended up offering me $6000 less than the over the phone guy and the truck is 2200 miles new. It's as clean as it was when I drove it off the showroom floor. Basically it's a scam. We scheduled an appointment to test drive a vehicle at 12 from Austin to San Antonio, only for him to text us that morning to move it to 1-2pm, which we said was fine. 1-2pm comes around and he no shows. We reached out to him only to have him forget and reschedule the appointment. I call and inquire about the vehicle and they tell us we need to work with numbers before transporting the vehicle. I talk to my partner and call back at a later time. A sales rep told me there that the truck we were inquiring about just got transported from Austin to San Antonio, we thought "Great!" We scheduled an appointment the following morning with Amber to test drive the vehicle, only to be told the vehicle ISN'T THERE! Are you freaking kidding me? Amber tells us that it'll cost us $500-600 to have the vehicle transported and that the money was going to have to come out of somewhere. What in the actual hell?? She tells us we have to work with numbers in order to pull the vehicle from the Austin lot. We then agree, having feel so exhausted.. only for her to pass us onto Mike who didn't even know what vehicle we were inquiring about. He was asking us what the stock# was and the vin#. Do these people even talk to each other? What a horrible experience, we just ended up walking out. This was not even worth our time, money, and I refuse to bring service to this company. After a month of shopping around I found the car I decided on at AutoNation San Antonio, at 3 PM Oscar G. Montesdeoca Palacios was the sales representative who showed me the car and went on a test drive with him. After thorough explanation of the cars positives and negatives I decided to go ahead and purchase it the Mazda6 which was very competitively priced in all my research prior to similar models around my area. They had it and had it ready to go when I arrived. Dealing with this company was very transparent and enjoyable, I never felt pressured or intimidated with any of the office personel I came in contact with including the Finance Director Matt Thompson which in dealing with other Dealerships is usually where they try to play hardball, not here. Good conversations with all representatives I encounter who were neither overbearing, or seemingly bothered by my many questions and explained any and all aspects of the transaction thoroughly to me finalizing the paperwork. Great group, keep going this direction and maybe you can change the opinion of dealerships in the public mind. read more

We viewed a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 on the AutoNation San Antonio website, and went to go see it on Wednesday night, 2 March 2022. Upon arrival, we were told that the vehicle had been transferred to Austin, was no longer on their inventory, and we should have called first to verify. We were told that the vehicle would be brought back to San Antonio the next morning (Thursday) and could be delivered directly to our home by the afternoon. We completed the paperwork, and they ran a hard pull on my wife's credit and came back with a score of "0" as if she had no credit history. My wife has over 15 active credit cards, all in good standing, and a score of "zero" didn't make sense, but we agreed to an APR of 24% and moved forward with a deposit of $2500. By 3pm, I had not heard from anyone about the delivery, and I called. I was told the windshield had a crack and they had to wait for the glass guy the following morning, the vehicle would be delivered soon after. Friday came with no delivery, no alert, no contact. I called. They then told me that the oil pan had a crack, and it was throwing an error code, so it had to be replaced. We then decided that the truck was not for us since we had not seen it, driven it or been updated on it's status at all. We contacted our salesperson, Tarra Davis, and Finance Director, Brian, and told them we no longer wanted the phantom truck, and wanted a full and immediate refund.
