I'm a happy customer today. 2 years ago, to the day, I purchased a 3 year battery from this AutoZone. The battery failed this week. I called the store, explained the battery failed. He checked his records. And said bring it, we'll swap for a new one. 15 minutes later, I have a new battery, and 1/2 hour later I'm back on the road with a new battery. Friendly service. I actually had a great experience here on Black Friday. My car battery died earlier that day and was recommended to go to AutoZone Auto Parts located on Hempstead Turnpike. My husband recommended me a certain battery to purchase here Gregory, the sales associate, helped me from the start. I had such a pleasant experience at this store thanks to Gregory. He agreed that the battery I was getting was a good choice, especially for the amount of driving I do. I'm still stunned by the service I received, my battery wasn't holding a charge but it got me to AutoZone to get a new one but they were out, seems like everyplace was. While they charged my battery and I tried to figure out my next move the manager looked online and found what I needed in stock at a local competitor. Already that's amazing but after I called the other store and they said they would hold the battery for me but not install it, the manager insisted on driving me there himself to pick it up and then had it installed for me at AutoZone, free. They just completely took care of me in my time of need just out of the goodness their heart. I'm still in a bit of shock! read more

It's not the store, but corporate that is screwing things up. Went on line, showed the parts were in stock - they were not. The people there looked for the [arts and could not find them in the store. I had to ask if another store had the parts - they did. I paid for the entire order here in Bethpage, when I got to the other store they didn't have all the parts, but the computer showed they did - they were confused. So I had to go a 3rd store to get the parts. A wasted day. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE IN BETHPAGE AUTOZONE! There is none! And Rude! Here is my experience : I had called store in levittown who said they had in stock the battery i needed to purchase when i got there the associate told me they did not have any but Bethpage had 4 in stock. I preceded to Bethpage where male associate told me we do not have any i asked him to call over reluctantly with attidute he did he got off phone and told me they have 4 not us. I said to him did you let them know i was just there and they told me they had none i asked him to call back he started yelling at me and said we do not have i asked to see supervisor he said i am , as his boss walks in Alicia as i explain to her situation as the male associate (mike) starts to get abrupt and races around counter to confront me in my face (all on camera) cooperate) yell at me to get out of store. I leave call back levittown store and explain Melvin at store tells me that he spoke to (mike)and told him that bethpage has 4 and that melvin confirmed with another bethpage associate that physically they have it! Bottom line i will never step back in a auto zone again. If i am the ceo of autozone i would not like hearing this. Helpful, but not knowledgeable. I walked in needing new bulbs for my break lights. The person didn't know what manufacturer made my car model, and then he told me that it required special tools to change the bulbs, "Not like a Camary, which anyone can do." I went to a service center, where the "special tools" were the mechanic's hands. I know nothing about my car. I'm a single female, who needs a bit of hand holding when it comes to car maintenance. However, when I've been to other auto parts stores, they're knowledge was a bit more on par. I did walk out with what I intended to buy, but it wasn't the best experience. read more

This was the worst customer service experience I ever had. Ok I walked in last night, with a light bulb in my hand. all the reps were assisting other customers. So I patiently waited by the counter and one of the associates was helping a customer. I proceeded to overhear the associates discuss with the client about car warranty insurance and they went off on a tangent about all the different kinds of warranty insurance options available in the industry. Totally not related to selling auto parts. Nevertheless, the customer nicely said to the associate that he could take car e of me. Instead, the associate rudely replied, "No that's ok, you were first." Than the associate turned to me and said, "I'm sorry, he was first, and I need to finish up with him. I'm sure you can understand that first come first serve." Well that flipped me out. I'm a totally understand person and I waited patiently, but he had me waiting 15 minutes while he was chatting about something that had nothing to do with what Auto zone offers. I was blown away. If this was my employee they would be fired instantly. I wish I taped it the conversation so that I could send it to corporate! Finally I had another associate help me and I was in and out of there super fast! Needless to say, if you go there see the super tall fellow. He was great and efficient. read more

I went into the store looking for guidance on how to attach new license plates to my car. My old one was taken off of the back of my car incorrectly and the plate holder snapped off. The gentleman behind the counter was really helpful! Not only did he show me what I needed to purchase, he accompanied me into the parking lot of the store and attached everything onto my car for me. Not sure if I can figure out how this store operates. You get your stuff, then you go to pay, but can't figure out where the line is. The cashiers are also the parts people, so there is no dedicated cashier. I went to pay for winshield washer fluid, thinking I was next on line when the cashier left his spot and went to spend the next few minutes with a clue-less customer. I was left there with no cashiers in sight. I put my washer fluid down on the floor and just left. Other times, you buy something and the cashier will tell you that they are having a "special" on some crap they just happen to be selling at the register. No thanks, your stuff is already overpriced and I don't need anymore cheap crap like flashlights or hinge oil. Watch for the add-ons, too. Bought a new car battery there. Before I knew it, they had already added felt-terminal washers and terminal grease to my purchase. The grease made the terminals slippery and so the battery cable wouldn't hold. Had to de-grease the terminal to get a good solid fit. I miss Auto Barn and others. 5/9/16 Update:::: Went there recently and I see not much has changed, actually, my experience there was worse than before. As usual, no one mans the cash registers. I had a bunch of stuff to pay for, but the only employee was working the parts line. So, I get on line and he tells me that I should wait for him at the register closest to the window. So, I do that while he helps the parts customer. Meanwhile, the other employees get back from their siestas and start taking other customers at the other 2 registers. Huh??? I'm next to be served and the two other customers who were behind me in line get rung up before me?? The other customers actually feel sorry for me and THEY apologize to me for getting rung up before me! Eventually, the employee who told me to wait by the window register comes down to ring me up and I think he apologized and states that it looks like I'm in a rush. I wasn't in a rush, but I told him it's a matter of fairness that I should have been serviced first, not third. No rhyme or reason to the processing of customers. Nothing has changed since my last review. Unfortunately, we're down to a few auto parts chains and there is really no where else to turn. read more

I would give this location less stars if it was possible. The chain advertises itself as a friendly and helpful place to get auto parts. The ads shows staff assisting customers. This was the opposite of my experience. I came in for a brake light and I could not read the numbers off the old one. Three people standing around fighting over who not to help me. The kid that was selected pointed and refused to walk over and show me the bulb. The guy at the cash register was rude. No thank you. No have a nice day. Terribly managed location. read more

Came in and was greeted and helped by an employee right away. Just needed new wipers and he quickly found out the size I needed and directed me to what they had available. Stock was limited since there was just a snow storm but I was able to get a decent pair for a good price. He also took off my old wipers and put on the new ones for me. This is my first time at the AutoZone in Bethpage, NY. My mother came in for a pair of windshield wipers for the Grand Marquee. Within seconds the tech. told her what size she needed and why she should get the better ones, (she's always replacing,). The best part after she paid for the wipers the tech. actually installed the wipers. This is as good as it gets. By the way this transaction took less than 8 minutes. Many thanks. read more

I agree with less stars if I could when I was in the store the staff is rude and cat like they don't want to be there and today I called and spoke with Rob inquiring about mud flaps for my boyfriends truck he told me to come in and look at them because there are so many types. I asked if they came in colors and his response was, when you look at them online do you see colors? " I asked him if that was sarcastic he didn't answer!!! I know firsthand that these guys aren't treated well by their corporate managers. There is no official training after being hired so you get thrown out there and this in turn provides poor quality service. There's always some overpriced product that "needs" to be sold at the register because in reality I it's almost 100% profit for the company. Regional and district managers come in and check up on the store's performance and make employees feels like they'll lose their jobs over not pushing these items at the register. I was a mechanic for many years and worked for this company so I was able to help customers out with not only their parts but with any technical questions they had. I'd also jump in and help out fellow coworkers that couldn't assist their customers. Unfortunately the lack of training available for employees and new hires is a disservice to both the paying customers as we'll the employees that need the job and want to help but can't due to lack of knowledge. I definitely understand the frustration because I'm a customer as well and in this particular store the service is horrible. I've encountered disgruntled employees that are basically hanging out and can't even be bothered, give an attitude when asked for something that isn't available on the self service side of the store (such as brakes, spark plugs, etc.), there is no order at all. When I worked at one we saw someone at the register and we rung them up ASAP. If you were helping them at the parts counters and they were paying credit, we rung up there (common sense). If you were short staffed and had to juggle tasks or were involved in a tech discussion or helping someone out, excuse yourself briefly and ring up the person at the register. You'd be surprised how when you're providing good service to someone they'll easily understand when you want to quickly go ring up a customer that's ready at the register. I've heard inappropriate conversations in this store, walked thru smoke clouds from the employees smoking right at the front door. I went in to get a check engine light scanned. Just so you know when you lose power to the car's computer it erases the memory. So after a while the light comes back on so you can scan the car and see what the codes are no fix the problem. The associate didn't comprehend that it takes a while for that check engine light to come back on because of the several tests the computer is running, he assumed it was fixed and refused to scan it. I wanted the scan because I did the repair and wanted to see if it was finally cleared or still pending results....that's it. That way you can move on or stay alert for the light. In summary this store is in dire need of employee training, organization and possible restructuring of management because clearly the problems aren't being addressed. Tip: for parts go to the small auto parts stores that aren't a chain. We have many on Long Island, that's where shops get their parts and always have been (for very good reasons). The price difference will surprise you in that most of the time it's the same if not less and they're quality parts. *for chemicals (brake cleaners, wax, etc.), oil, filters, light bulbs go to walmart. I have been shopping at this store for years now, and i have to say this store is making a turn around. Every time i go in the store in recent weeks i see a new face, and i think this was a well needed change. The new staff is a lot friendlier and more willing to help then the employees i remember from years ago. Some are more knowledgeable then the rest but all are willing to make sure you get the right parts and the right info you need for the job to get done. The store is also a lot more organized in recent months and overall it has been a more pleasurable experience. Keep up the good work! read more
