On Sunday afternoon I got into my car to go to a family birthday dinner & realized my windshield wipers had literally fallen apart. I went into total panic mode due to the forecast for heavy rain that evening. I googled auto parts stores & found that Advanced Auto in Hicksville was open. I came in today, Sunday, to purchase a battery. They had advertised free installation, definitely a motivation to go here, as it is fairly cold out. I walk in, tell them I'd like to purchase a battery and have it installed. At this point, the three guys behind the counter started debating who had to do it, as it was very cold out. I understand not wanting to be in the cold, but at the same time, it is their job. I felt uncomfortable, but then a young man said he would do it. I will say, the battery was put in very quick and professional. He comes in, I say thank you, I left. As I am sitting in my car, he comes back out. I put down my window, he asks if my car started alright.. I said yes, and thank you. He then said, next time with it being so cold, I should have given him a few dollars to get something to drink. I mentioned I am sorry, but I don't have cash. He then said there was a Starbucks next door. Please keep in mind he is standing over me thru my window. I have no problem tipping, but did not think this was a situation that I would, and I definitely am not under intimidation. So I came in here when I was having car trouble. I purchased a new car battery. It was fairly priced. The associate made sure everything went smoothly for me. They check you battery for free. They also give you suggestions on what you should do. When I first walked in however.. It was hard to find anyone who worked there. They seemed to be all in the back laughing and having a good time. Came in around lunch time to get my check engine light scanned. The worker quickly came out, gave me the code, explained what I needed, and had me take a picture of the result from the scan. Efficient and helpful staff, clean store, decent stock, opens early and good sales. Good parking, except during lunch when the Smashburger and Starbucks crowds take over. The only downside has been that they do often run out of their oil specials...check their stock online before going. On the topic of their website - great for checking stock, has always been accurate. The downside is that the searches are slow and page changes are slow. Doesn't reflect on the store itself though...just some feedback if corporate is reading. read more

I ordered a specific part for my specific car. I explained to them in detail what year make model and trim level my car was. I suppose they don't pay too much attention to detail because when my part came it was for the same year make and model but not for my trim level. I confirmed with the guy on Saturday before I placed the order and was told "yes this is for your car". I suppose since it was close to closing time on a Saturday they were a little bit rushed so that might attribute to the lack of attention to detail. Now a part I needed for my car yesterday won't be in for another few days causing me to incur rental car costs. Aside from this when I went in on Monday to receive the part, the person who was helping me had to install a wiper blade and ring up another client who were there after me because they were so busy and I wasn't in a rush. Probably the last time I will order a part from advanced. Next time I'll use concord or the dealer or even pep boys. read more

Went to advance auto parts in early November to purchase wipers for my car I bought a good pair of blades that came with a 15 $ rebate . I did all the paperwork on line and was told 6 to 8 weeks for the rebate .its now 12 weeks and I'm still waiting and was just told it will take another 4 to 6 weeks. This is unbelievable.lesson learned next time I will just go to pep boys now I see why they only got 2 1/2 stars with service like that . I called twice about the rebate and spent 20 minutes on hold each time l asked to speak to a supervisor and were told they were in a meeting. The service in the store was good and I am very satisfied with the wipers but I still would like to get my rebate they got two stars for the product no stars for the after service. Out of stock in Silver level Battery for 2007 Honda Civic. Really guys are you serious? And me, like an idiot, I pulled the old battery out of the car in the parking lot and carried it in. I thought - they must have this battery in stock being such a common car and all. The guy at the counter meant well but his timing was off. He kept insisting there are a couple units available in East Meadow NY which is about a 15 minute drive from there. Useless. The car was already unusable and I told him that 2 times prior. I ended up having to shell out the extra dough for the premium battery. I wouldn't buy a battery from Advance Auto again. 2 Months ago I had bought a battery from AutoZone. The experience there was much better..for starters they had the battery I wanted in stock (re: 2007 Honda Accord) and they cheerfully installed it for me at no charge. read more
