We have used this dealership in the past, but it us under new ownership. After four hours of half-truths and changing stories, they tried to add a $650 fee onto the cost of the car as a financing fee. Since it was not listed as such, sales tax was calculating on it as well. After making a big scene, they finally removed the fee as a, "courtesy." This is our 6th purchase of a Subaru, and the worst experience. read more

We are not sure why this dealership is almost twice as expensive as other companies but we were told it was because of the Subaru " parts " used, but there was only oil changes completed. I called the day before to setup an appointment for a specific car and made sure it was still in stock. I let the woman I spoke to know that I was driving out 45 minutes and didn't have a lot of time. Basically, wanted to make sure the car checked out in purpose and intended to buy it. When I got there the sales people were dismissive, didn't care that I had an appointment and apparently they work out of private lots, so even if I wanted to just check the car out I wouldn't be able to. I was told to wait an indefinite amount of time and clearly the people working there didn't think we were legitimate customers and wanted to brush us off. Meanwhile, we were prepared to buy. If this dealership would like any advice I would say to commit to the time you setup with a customer and have the car they're specifically interested in ready to go at the front of your lot. You don't create a hassle for your customers. I wanted the car bad but I won't give this place my money or time again. I wasted 45 minutes there and back to be treated rudely. I had a wonderful experience purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned Subaru Impreza from North Coast Subaru. Denise Vickers (Internet Service Manager) was courteous and efficient on the phone. She helped me set up an evening test drive. Her sales pitch was effective (she was basically like: listen buddy, if you wait until the weekend to test drive this car, it might be sold by then!). Jeff Olson was the salesperson and he was professional and patient during the whole process. I appreciate the transparency as he showed me the Car Fax immediately. He disclosed to me that the car had previously been in an accident, which is why the car was priced so competitively. Jeff is a tough negotiator (initially low-balled my trade-in), but overall he's fair (do your homework first on TrueCar.com). The service department and body shop are located on the second floor of the dealership. The dealership did an excellent job with detailing the car and, once again, Jeff was transparent with me regarding the minor marks on the car that could not be removed. After the test drive on Tuesday evening, I was driving off with an Impreza on Saturday afternoon. Paperwork was quick and painless (thanks Jesse) and I felt like I paid a fair price for my Impreza. At 948am Someone from the customer support team at North Coast Subaru contacted me, confirmed vehicle is available, and let me know they were having a sale this weekend and pushed for an appointment. Wasnt sure when i could make it, thought lunchtime so he offered 1215 and set the appointment 956am my business partner stopped by and was told it has been sold and delivered for quite some time. He then proceeded to try and get him to buy a similar truck for $10,000 more. He left (BAIT & SWITCH) Shortly there after i called the customer care back on the # they called me from, 516-518-5706. Spoke with a different rep, she was confused because she was showing it was still available in the system and and double checked with a manager. She then offered to have the VIP sales manager call me back to discuss the truck 4pm i reached back out and requested a call back. the "sales manager" called me and gave a story how they don't check if a vehicle is in stock until someone makes an appointment. and that it takes time to confirm or transfer from another dealership and that he couldn't even tell me on the phone if it was available, but would submit an inquiry and call me back. He added that they dont even have to remove it from their website for 30 days after it is sold. When he called back he said it wasn't available and how they don't actually check until someone makes an appointment. Countered i made an appointment, after they contacted me that it was available. Conversation didn't get much better. I returned to North Coast Subaru after having been to other NYC dealerships for my past leases. I had used their services in the past when they were under past owners and thought let's hope they will be fair. My experience was far from fair. I was stuck getting a car from them, as we had to order a car and wait due to limited availability ( I had left a down payment) ) and all the aftermath of COVID. I ended up leasing another car as my original order was not available due to parts- which is fine. However the general feeling there is shady and you leave feeling used and taken. I was not shown the breakdown of what the costs were or how they came up with the monthly payment. I asked several times to see how they came up with this extremely large number which was WAY more then I wanted to pay. And was shown nothing, nothing was explained. I was looked at like there is something wrong with me for asking even. I felt pressured. Personally I feel completely taken advantage of, and used. I don't plan on ever returning, if something should happen I will go to any other Subaru dealership. Also the building is dirty, unkempt, looks sad and is very cold. Don't take your car for service here! Took our subarus here for years but in the last year this dealership has changed hands and it shows. Brought my car in for a weird problem I had been having with the fuel vapor system- figured a shop specializing in subarus would be knowledgeable and be able to fix the issue. They quoted me for 10K worth of repairs (including a new timing belt even though this same service station had replaced the timing belt less than 3 years ago). When I pointed this out they avoided the question. Clearly they just wrote down a list of things that could be wrong with an older subaru outback without even looking at the car. They didn't even address the original issue I had brought the car in for. the next day I took my car to my town mechanic and he did a great job fixing the fuel vapor system, clarified that their list of needed repairs was bullshit, but did find that my brake pads were wearing unevenly and needed replacement. (something North Coast didn't put in their list of needed repairs). What kind of "16 point safety check" doesn't include looking at the brakes??? read more

I had a great first experience buying a car thanks to North Coast Subaru! I had shopped around and visited other dealers and either the people were not helpful; weren't listening to my wants; or too pushy. I found the used car I wanted online, contacted the internet customer service representative Denise and she responded with answers to all of my questions and told me I can come in for a test drive. Upon arriving to North Coast Subaru I met Jeff Olsen who immediately assisted me with the car buying process. He showed me the car, took it for a test drive, answered my questions, was aware and informed me that the tires and bearing needed to be changed, and was patient with me as I stated I wanted to think about it. Jeff had his service team fix the issues and called me to let me know so I can come back and test drive it once again. At that point I decided to purchase the car. When I came in to sign paperwork and pick up the car I met with Peter, the lending officer. He was very informative and provided all the options I can take on the car and wasn't pushy when I declined added services. Dan helped me buy a pre owned Forester this week... and Dan and everyone there treated me like I was buying a brand new top of the line car. I live in Brooklyn - but I'm gladly going to make the drive to get my car serviced there as well. Its so hard to find people who treat you so well and who you can trust. I said at one point "gosh you guys I am just buying a used car- you don't need to treat me like its a big deal.." The owner looked at me and said "yes we do- everyone should be treated that way." I am waiting on my DMV road test this week to pick the car up- so they are holding it for me - That would NEVER happen in the city! How awesome is that! Having spent the greater part of my adult life as a poor college/grad student, I always drove various hand-me-downs. After two years working full time, my old hooptie with the wired-on bumper just wasn't cutting it anymore. I was a bit anxious at making such a huge purchase, and was worried about any shady practices from the dealer, so we found North Coast on Yelp and decided to drive out to them thanks to the positive reviews. We were able to test drive a 5-door Impreza the same day we walked in. We were given a fair price and good financing options. The staff at North Coast listened to us and our concerns and didn't try to upsell us on stuff we didn't need or want. Everything was smooth and I was driving back to Queens in my shiny new car a few days later. Staff were honest, respectful, and I can't recommend this place enough if you want a Subaru. We've had this car for a month and we have had no problems with it so far. David was very friendly and very straight-forward as well. We factory-ordered a 2016 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited and were able to pick it up within the timeframe promised. For those of you who have never shopped for a new car before, whenever you ask for a quote online, all of the local dealerships gain access to your information and try to win your business through e-mails and phone calls. NCS gave me a quote way less than ALL of the surrounding Subaru dealerships. Some dealerships even countered my price with offers that were $2000 MORE. Some dealerships finally stopped calling me back (after badgering me for weeks) after I let them know what price I was paying. One dealership even scoffed at me and said they didn't need my business because Subarus are flying off the lots (and why would he want to sell me a car for so little profit?). Anyway, cars aren't exactly something I purchase often. But when I do, I would purchase from North Coast Subaru again as long as they keep up the great attitude and service! Just purchased my 2014 Forester from this dealership. I had an overall great experience. I dealt with Frank initially who helped me price out everything on the car. I do my research on EVERYTHING before buying so I knew the price he was giving me was a bit higher than I should have been paying. I began shopping around and received the price I wanted from a dealer in Connecticut. I spoke to Frank who told me there wasn't anymore he could do. I began the process to purchase from the dealer in CT. Bill the manager called and had told me that they had found the car I wanted, and it would be in within 2 days. I explained to Bill that I had found a better price at another dealership. Bill quickly worked out the numbers and matched their price which is what I wanted. I wanted to honestly buy from Glen Cove because I've dealt with their parts/service department in the past and had great results with them. Bill actually ended up getting me a better APR on the financing than the CT dealership. So he ended up saving me a lot of money. The day my wife and I went in to pick up the car, we already knew there were a few accessories missing (remote start, etc). Since my wife works really close, the dealership made arrangements to pick up the car the next day from my wife's job and do the work. They brought it back to her before she left. There were also some mix ups with paperwork as we were transferring plates, etc. NC Subaru sent a gentleman each time to my wifes office to straighten everything out, get signatures, etc. They made the buying process so easy. Everyone from Management down to the receptionists/secretaries were a real pleasure to deal with. This is my 3rd Subaru purchase in 3 years, and close family members have purchased another 4 in the past 8 months. NC Subaru was the best dealership out of all the other Subaru dealers we've dealt with and wil be getting our business from now on. I highly recommend them. read more
