My partner and I ent in to drop off oil for recycling, buy new oil and a few other items. When my we arrived, one employee directed us to leave the old oil on a cart. We grudgingly took our now oily containers back and left, They didn't take the filter either, just left them in the box we brought them to discover when we got home. Good location, good inventory, but crappy employee. On 2025-07-01, at 8.55 pm, I came to AutoZone at 2355 El Camino Real in SC to buy a part. I called earlier in the day and was told the store had the part on hand. I jumped on my bike to go there to get the part but the door was already locked at 8:55 pm. A man about 20~30 year old with a long blond ponytail saw me; I knocked on the door to let him know I want to go in. He flipped his hand at me to tell me to bug off, and he disappeared into the back room. He would not come out again even after I waited for 5 min. I needed that part so I can install it that night and use my car tomorrow. He did not let me do that. If I were his manager, I would fire him for his laziness and rudeness. I needed spray paint to fix a car scratch and, after some YouTube research, found the right color code. I visited several stores along El Camino in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara to find the paint the same day. At two nearby O'Reilly stores, I received great customer service--especially the one near Wolfe--though neither had the paint in stock. Unfortunately, my experience at this AutoZone was frustrating enough to warrant leaving a review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entering, I approached the counter since I knew the paint needed to be looked up by color code in the internal system. The lady at the counter initially refused to assist and directed me to the aisle to search for it myself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I explained I had a color code she could potentially look up--something the O'Reilly stores had done--but she dismissed it, insisting that O'Reilly part numbers wouldn't work there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I clarified it was a universal paint code (Duplicolor PerfectMatch and many other paint brands use this color code), but she became frustrated, refused further assistance, and walked away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another employee attempted to help but did a brief, incorrect search and showed me unrelated paint products on his screen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This experience suggests one of two issues: either AutoZone's system isn't designed to look up paint by color code (which O'Reilly's can do), or the employees lack the necessary training for paint matching--despite the store carrying Duplicolor products. Possibly both. Ultimately, I wouldn't recommend this AutoZone (or others) for any product that requires a code lookup. Despite Covid, the wait times here have not been as high. They have good enforcement of social distancing, and people do follow it well here. The cashiers all have masks, but always make sure to engage in small talk, feels good with the less/almost no social interaction during these tough times. In my experience, AutoZone has better service than Pep Boys, and better everything than O'Reilly. I save money by doing a lot of car maintenance myself, and when I'm shopping for car parts, I also like to save money. Sometimes an item is cheaper at Pep Boys, sometimes Amazon, and actually rarely is it cheapest at AutoZone. It depends. But AutoZone has a rewards program where if you spend $20 five times in one year, you get a $20 certificate. So it could make sense to shop there if you're buying parts frequently. And their Duralast parts have been reliable for me thus far and sometimes have a lifetime warranty. Not to mention, their free loaner tools are convenient for the odd job. This particular store has a good assortment of general parts and car care items. Service has always been pleasant, especially from the ladies who are sometimes working here. And the ladies seem to know more than the guys! So I'll keep coming here, when it makes financial sense to do so. read more

The staff is very professional and helpful to bring the questionable battery from the trunk to the store, then quickly ran a test. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I first walked in today, 2/8/25 around 12:50PM, there was no one at the counter, but I heard a male and female employee yelling in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The female was extremely unprofessional and was dropping f-bombs in every sentence while describing someone she had just talked to on the phone. I never got a look at her since she never came out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then there was an older guy wearing sunglasses who was back there with her, and he eventually came to the front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My reason for visiting was to drop off an old battery and get the $10 credit that AutoZone offers. He asked me for a receipt, and I explained again I was just trying to recycle it. Then he took it and said "you're good to go" without giving me the credit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He wasn't particularly polite either and was rather grumpy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But how disappointing that he doesn't even know the company policy for recycled batteries. I left because at that point I decided the $10 credit wasn't worth arguing for. Between the woman in the back cursing and the grumpy, clueless guy causing me to leave without the credit, I would recommend that anyone steer clear of this location. A representative (sales Customer Satisfaction) girl name "Celeste P" was very rude to this young gentleman who came into the store to get a filter. I was in line next, 6ft behind him. He kindly asked her for a 2019 Ram pro Master cargo Van filter. I was listening to everything and Celeste P was unkind and was asking unnecessary questions like what is the gentleman's license plate and all this other questions. Why would you need any of for a simple filter. All you need is make a mode and the year. She was best ally being raciest and racial profiling the gentlemen. She made it seem like the van was stolen. My go-to store for car repair needs! I have large forearms and have trouble jamming my arm into small books and crannies under the hood to swap out my headlight bulbs. I had gone here back in December 2020 for the replacement of a headlight bulb that went out. The staff were courteous enough on my visit to assist in bulb replacement which saved me from risking being issued a fix-it ticket. Fast forward a month (January 2021), and my car battery had died. Upon purchase, I came to realize that I didn't have all of the tools I'd require to replace the battery but the staff here were willing to loan me a wrench to complete the removal of the old battery. This review is about 2 months late. I want to give a shout-out to Dennis who helped me replace my car battery. I went to this AutoZone location on a Wednesday mid-morning. There weren't many people at the store, but it was hard to get the attention of any of the employees. They don't seem to notice the customers and tend to walk around the store or chat amongst themselves. So, I stood in the checkout line since I figured this was the only way to connect with someone. Dennis was at the checkout counter.
