My 19 year old daughter bought a 2001 Dodge Dakota truck in August of 2014 and threw a rod in the engine in October. With the age of the truck, I never questioned replacing the engine, the maintenance shop we took it to suggested that we get a used engine from LKQ, Inc. We did and it worked fine until May 2015 when this engine also began to knock and we were once again told that she was throwing a rod. We asked about a warranty and were told that the engine came with a 6-month warranty, but we were in month 8. We again purchased a used engine from LKQ and began a trip from Georgia to California. We made it all of 250 miles before this engine overheated due to a blown heater hose. We got that fixed and tried to continue on our trip, however she could not go faster than 45 without going downhill with a tailwind. We decided to stay the night in Birmingham, AL and have it looked at the next day. This was Wednesday, 10 June 2015, we had it towed to a AAA authorized maintenance shop who told us that the engine failed a block test so it would need to have the heads resurfaced, which we told them to proceed with. Once they got the heads off, they found that the engine had not had an oil change in something like 10,000 to 15,000 miles based on the oil build-up in the engine. I contacted LKQ's warranty department and after 4 days of back and forth, of course there was a weekend in the middle and they are not in the office on the weekends, I was informed that because the engine overheated and melted the heat tabs, they would not honor the warranty. Let me restate that we drove this vehicle 250 miles before we began having problems. They sold me a junk engine and wont even offer to cover the cost of my 5 days in hotel, while they decided that they were going to make me buy another engine. I was told by more that one person that this company had a great reputation for taking care of their buyers. Not this buyer, all they are interested in is how many engines can we get them to buy.

I work for a small used dealership and was so impressed on their customer service level, the internet manager went above and beyond for me, even staying late since he and I could both relate on long days. I appreciate everything he did for me and would recommend them to anyone in the market for a newer car. I appreciate these guys so much. Brandi

I was informed by confirmation email (when I ordered) that I would get an email from John Roberts Toyota when it was ready for pickup. After two weeks, and no email, I called weekly to check in (they promised on the phone to call and email when it was ready for pickup). Almost 4 weeks later, I finally call again to ask if it's ready for pickup and they said it is (no phone call or email, like promised/expected via the Toyota website). I drove an hour to pick up the paint since I was leaving in less than 48 hours to an out of state convention where my car would be included in content. Unfortunately, when I picked up the touch up paint (which was in a plastic package), I had no idea that they gave me the wrong color. I applied the touch up paint to my car the next day during my lunch break (after a fresh car wash), and was confused by the color that applied. I didn't have anything to remove it, so I just hoped that it would dry the correct color, but it didn't. When I called John Roberts to report that they had given me the wrong color and that I needed the correct color that day, they said I would have to purchase a new touch up paint (because the manager had left, wouldn't answer calls, and nobody at the store knew how to do an exchange or refund), and make it in time for closing when I had to finish my shift. There were no accommodations at all for their mistake, not even paint remover. I asked my fiancé to book it from his work to the store and get me the touch up paint since my car, now, had an incorrect paint color on it and sent him with proof that I had purchased a specific paint color on the website and they gave me the wrong one. He barely made it before closing and charged him for the paint. I left more than one voicemail with the department manager/head of the parts department to try to get a refund for the original product, but he has never called back. Worst experience ever, nobody in the parts department knows how to do their job, and super unprofessional. Would NOT recommend.
