I think the best review for a business is: "Would you use them again?" The answer is: "Definitely."

They were prompt, reliable, and extremely helpful in fixing my door which was no longer moving down. They replaced the electric tape that the installer had used with plastic caps when they fixed the wiring, inspected the whole system and serviced it, made the door tension less so as a single older woman I could more easily move the door by hand (which was a major pain when the door stopped working automatically), took time to explain the mechanism more thoroughly to me and answered questions I had had since installation 13 years ago. They were helpful, friendly and very efficient. And I have a one year warranty if anything goes amiss. They are the best!!!

He first tried many things to fix the old opener, but when that was not possible, he had a replacement in his rig and had us up and going with a new opener in a jiffy. We moved to the area in March, and…read moreknew the house we purchased had a heating & AC system that were original to the house and well past their typical rated lifespans, and likely to die on either the hottest or coldest day of the year. Getting replacements was always on our list of "to do's," and so we called a highly rated HVAC company to get a quote. The guy came out, looked around, and then NEVER provided a quote despite repeated calls and requests. OK ... on to McDowell & Son. M&S came out promptly and provided us with several options and price points. Terry didn't try to sell us the most expensive system, but explained how the various units would work (all 3 would be fine for our house); described some ways to help us keep the house cool (or warm) given that we would only have a one-zone system, and overall provided a professional experience even at the RFQ stage. We scheduled time for an installation. And guess what? A little over a week before installation date, the area is hit with a big heat wave, temps above 100, and yes - the AC died. And it got hot. And hotter. We called to see if we could get bumped up on the schedule, but the equipment wasn't all in place and they had other jobs scheduled, but they were kind enough to bring out a single room AC loaner for us, which at least gave us one room to escape to at night. When installation day(s) arrived, the crew was prompt. We got calls the day before each installation day advising us when the crew would arrive. The team that did the installation was courteous and professional; they kept the work area neat; all the old stuff was removed and debris taken away. There were a few hiccups here and there (a piece of equipment arrived damaged; our crawl space was a little odd) but they managed around those things. The difference the new, modern AC has made is incredible. It does a great job cooling the entire house (before the upstairs was always problematic); it's quieter; it has so many scheduling options for flexibility. Again, though, the equipment isn't what made the experience memorable - it was the great service from McDowell and Son. I'm confident that if there is a time for any warranty service, we'll get the same great treatment.

As Matt and I were walking around, we found some home pond ideas. They do sell the tubs to create a pond in your backyard, which is actually really cool. Now, back to my original serial killer comment... they carry copious amounts of shovels, industrial-grade duct tape, heavy-duty rubber gloves, flags for like sprinklers, and more along those lines. If I were going to murder someone and planned it out, I'd probably come here for all of the supplies to dispose of my victims. Small town, poor customer service because of being a female, unlimited supplies. It's literally perfect for that kind of thing! Which is sadly, the most memorable thing about my visit in here. How perfect this place is if I ever needed those kind of supplies. I don't plan on it, for the record, but that was what I noticed. Would I return?
