I have had some seriously bad hair experiences lately. Have tried multiple salons in Pacifica and elsewhere. I got to the point where I even cut my own hair to avoid another encounter with someone who insisted on "blowing out" my curly/wavy hair and giving me a C- cut. You can straighten my hair all you want, but I will never spend 1/2 hr at least every morning doing the same. Plus, I like my curls. So I took a deep breath and visited Angelena. And wow am I glad I did! I felt comfortable with her right off the bat! She listened to my babbling about what had already happened, what I thought I wanted and what I didn't want. She gave me a fantastic cut, explaining what she was doing the whole time (which I loved), and we made plans to do a test of a color in the near future, followed by a balayage if I didn't have a bad reaction to the test (one of my bad experiences involved an over-processed dye job with lots of bleaching and too much coloring. I ended up with migraine headaches and destroyed hair that reacted badly to shampoo of any kind!). I have finally found a stylist who is local, talented and experienced, down to earth and not out of my price range! I look forward to the balayage and all future cuts! read more

I asked for a lob and she wanted to make sure I was 100% ok with cutting my hair off, which was nice to know she had a conscious, she wants to make sure I love my hair. I hadn't had my blond toned in a while so she spruced up the blonde to make it look pretty again. Got to have my hair cut my Angelina again. Just dusting the ends and adding more layers, pregnancy made my hair so thick! It came out super cute. Love the movement it has now. I recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon this quaint little hair salon. I booked an initial appointment with Angelena for a spontaneous blowout to treat myself and I am so glad I did. From the moment I walked in the shop I felt at home, welcome and was treated like my very best friend was doing my hair. Angelena went the extra mile to make me feel like I was a top priority, not to mention my hair looked phenomenal when I left. I called a few weeks later to schedule a color correction. Having very dark Latin hair my hair tends to lift very orange. I explained to Angelena that I would like to get all the orange highlights out of my hair and get a subtle ash added to show some dimension. Talk about a true professional; she was patient in explaining the process and we worked together on a game plan. And what a process it was...three and a half hours and she had me looking back to normal. In the last few days I have received so many compliments on my hair. Well call me Ginger! Very happy to report that the new owner of the Shine Salon studio in Pacifica is taking fantastic care of the joint now that Sarah has left. Jenn is the name of the new owner and she is a very gifted stylist. I had met her once before during the transition period, where Sarah (previous owner) was introducing her clients to Jenn before she set down roots in the East Bay and sold Jenn the salon. Jenn is attentive and picks up on details. I've got to be honest, I've got some issues. Nothing to do with my hair (except that I like it really red!), but have a medical condition where I overheat very quickly. Need the temperature in the room, and even the water rinsing my hair to be as cold as possible. Jenn paid attention when Sarah 'briefed' her months ago. I'm impressed she retained any details at all considering she not only had her own client list to take care of, but was taking over a salon! Very impressive. She had the salon door open to catch the ocean breeze and the blinds closed in anticipation of my visit. I was so thankful! I wasn't aware that Jenn did not use Redken color, which is what was used on my hair in the past. I didn't have a clue as to how to keep my hair at the same level of red with a different brand of color. But she was able to figure it out, and do a great job of it too. Whew! Before I met Jen, I was getting my hair cut and colored at Joseph Cozza on Maiden Lane, which is definitely a wonderful salon and I recommend them highly - just not to my fellow Pacificans!! She complimented my hair assets and proposed how we could accentuate them without much impact on my pocket. On January 10,2019 I had an appointment with the most amazing hairstylist in the world she not only changed my hair she changed how I felt about myself. Angelina not only cut colored and styled my hair, she made me feel beautiful again. She gave me confidence and that I can style it just like she did and take care of it. Angelina went above and beyond to make me feel like that again. I advise all to get a facial from Raquel! I just got one and it was lovely. It was a gentle oxygenating facial (my skin is sensitive so this was perfect!). It felt like heaven! And my skin looked and felt wonderful right after and still looks great days later. Raquel only uses products that she personally researches and likes that are all natural and smell AMAZING. No perfumey chemicals, just natural aromas. After the facial we did lash extensions and they always come out just the way I want them. Not too crazy (although she can do that if you want) but these were natural just how I like them. She listens to what you want. And it doesn't hurt when she does them, she's so gentle! I love coming to AV hair salon also for Daniela's hair services. My hair always comes out looking fabulous and better than I imagined, and she is a spectacular hair stylist as well. She's lovely to talk to and she has great tips for how to care for my hair and what products to use afterwards. Daniela is the absolute best!!!! I went in to get a cut and some purple color. Well the purple washed out faster than we both anticipated. After letting her know she booked me for an appointment right away to try again and let's just say I am purple and loving it:-) I loved what she did with my hair the first time but the second time around WOW!!! She has done my hair twice now and is always extremely professional and I have been really pleased with her work both times. I had a great haircut here! The service is amazing and very personal, and it has a small business feel but is still very well stocked and professional. The salon has such a nice atmosphere and is decorated designed to make you feel right at home. Jordan cut my hair and was very attentive to what I wanted and made sure to cut specifically so that it would work perfectly with my hair type. As someone who has often been disappointed with stylists taking too much or too little off, this was a refreshing improvement. I have been traveling from Pacifica to downtown S.F. to get my hair cut and colored at a very high-end salon for over eight years. Although always pleased with the services received, I was weary of the long drive, parking hassles, and time it took out of my day to go so far for my hair needs. HOORAY - I had my hair cut by Jen yesterday, and am so excited to have found her at the new salon right here in town!!!!! I have very fine hair which is difficult to deal with, and she worked her magic, creating a beautiful precision cut which is frankly, one of the best cuts I have ever had.
