Best hummus in the AV. Their rice is pretty good and their chicken kabobs are pretty tasty. Also best deal on fries . But my favorite part about the res is the small store next door. They have great ingredients to bring some of the Mediterranean experience home and prepare dishes yourself. Only had one not so great experience with the rice being cold but one of the women was able to accommodate me and give me a new plate. Overall definitely recommend kabobs and checking out the store. Have eaten at this restaurant about half dozen times. The food is usually pretty good, but... 1) restaurant is ALWAYS extremely dirty: floors, walls, windows, and filthy bathrooms, and they dont care. 2) ate lunch there yesterday and saw a cockroach scurrying across the floor between tables. 3) furniture is all old. Mostly all of the chairs have really torn up upholstery. 4) most of all, I refuse to spend money at a business where the owners/employees are unfriendly and unappreciative toward their customers, no matter how good the food may be...these several ladies which run and own this place are never friendly, nor do they ever say a simple "thank you" or even show a smile. They asked do you have time it will be ready in 15 min. 15 min later the food was on the grill unattended for the same amount of time. The meat burnt. Tried AVKabob house today for the first time. It's pretty okay. I might go back again. The good: chicken kabob was well seasoned and juicy. The falafel was pretty delicious. The prices here are reasonable. The bad: this place is located akwardly, next to a liquor store and across from the hospital, literally, I've seen two drunk men, both in wheel chairs, fist fighting outside this establishment. I'm not joking. Totally serious. The actually inside of the restaurant is on par with the location. The hummus is just not the flavor I like. It's very tahini (sesame seed butter) forward. I like more garlic and lemon flavors in mine. None of those flavors here. I'd love to mix it up, eat the falafel and kabob from here and the hummus and sides from Olives on Lancaster Blvd. (Olives is more delicious but WAY more expensive) read more

Food is always great. Seriously, we've ordered take-out many times. Mixed grill, Greek salad, falafel, gyro, everything is delicious!!! Unless it's not a traditional meal time, you'll probably have to wait when you get there, even if you come when they say it'll be ready. Their store has great pita bread so much cheaper than regular stores! The only thing I dislike about the place is that it is dirty. The food rating is good, the food quality and taste is great, but I've seen employees eating and cooking at the same time, not changing gloves in between, and everything in the eating area and the store attached to it is messy/dingy/worn. I think that's why we never eat there, but always get it to go. I hope they are able to invest a little into a DEEP cleaning and some fresh paint soon, as I love the food, but the place is not comfortable to dine in. read more

First time I came to this place and got the Mini Lamb kabob, it came with 5 pieces of meat and a medium sized koobideh. Today I ordered 2 Mini Lamb Kabob plates and she took a 6 piece lamb Skewer which is for the full and split it in 2. Which means there was only 3 pieces of lamb in each. This was a total rip off. Now the food, we got the chicken kabob and falafel, the chicken was not killed like most kabob places in the Lancaster/Palmdale area do. Little known fact: last year they made turkey dinners to order for Thanksgiving. Ask about it this year: these people know how to make delicious by combining heat and meat. Here's what you do. The first time you come here, grab a menu. The rest of the times: phone it in 10-15min before you pick it up. Service can lag, especially when they get slammed. Everything is cooked to order, not thawed to order like fast food or the other "kabob" clones that have come and gone. The schawerma is good, though I only order it when I see it on the spit, which is a 50/50 thing depending on the time I come in. Always ask for garlic butter and the red stuff, but a little known extra is tahini. Tahini. Like Team America: f-yeah! Sometimes the salad rocks. Sometimes it doesn't. You're getting 3lb of food for $8: shut-up and eat the good stuff. The rice is good, sometimes they have tabuli (spelling?) That's reeeeeeeally good, and once in a while I get a roasted chili with dinner... and it is always awesome. They used to serve this funky pickled beet stuff I wish they would bring back. The staff is always sweet, regardless of how overwhelmed the little kitchen gets. Bring your fat pants because this is some serious gnosh. So the decor is lacking. So what? Yo: Michale Kors, have you looked around Lancaster? Most people in this valley dress themselves like a parolee with body dysmorphia, and some locals actually have the audacity to criticize the "decor?" It serves great food at a low price and keeping the decor utilitarian means the money goes into the food instead of the resting place for the crowded asses that also house your heads. If you've eaten at any Middle Eastern restaurant in Los Angeles or, indeed, ANY restaurant that's not fast food, you will avoid this place. It is hot, dirty, disgusting and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. The floor was coated in dirt. They do have an "A" rating in the window, so I don't know if it was once decent or they paid off the county health inspector. The people were not UNfriendly, but rather, completely ignored me to the point that no one could be found when I was leaving. I had to chase someone down to pay THEIR bill. Incredible! The food was fine, not great. I have no real complaints about it. The look of the place was so awful, however, that it overpowered any enjoyment I might have had. A.V kabob house is a little hole in the wall place with great food. This review is for the food only. for the cleanlines of the little storefront I would definitly give it 2 stars. The floor needed mopping and the 4 or 5 tables needed wiping. but the service is good and friendly at least for me it was. it takes a little while to get your food but it is because they prepare to order. The chicken is tender and just flavorful , the beef is juicy and just the right amount of spice. The prices are very reasonable and you get tons of food. Well, I grew up with the Greeks and dated an Armenian for a few years, and most of my closest friends are from the mediterranean region so I am pretty well versed in this kinda food. It is as near and dear to me as the Italian/Jewish staples My mom cooked. That said, I can tell you the kabobs, rice, and hummus at this joint are legit. The gyros and weird garlic sauce, notsomuch. But the kabob lunch combo is delicious and can be shared - it runs $9 bucks so sharing it makes it a steal. If I don't share then I'm happy to have enough leftover to make another meal. I struggled a bit with how to rate this one. I would give the food a 3, but the facility a 1, so I went in the middle. The facility is terrible. The salt on my table was in an oil cruet, while there was an empty salt shaker right next to it. Seriously, you can't spend $1.00 for a new shaker at the dollar store (which is probably where the oil cruets came from based on their appearances)? Other tables had the oil cruet's as salt dispensers as well. The trash was overflowing, the floors and tables were dirty, and no one seemed to notice or care. There was not one table wiped down the entire time I was there, though I did see folks leave, because I did spent quite a bit of time there, unfortunately. The food was served on a cheap plastic tray in a styrofoam to-go container with plastic utensils. There was a large squadron of flies stationed above my table, and they took their assignment of patrolling my table very seriously. Their overwhelming number combined with their kamikaze dive-bombing of my head and meal throughout my visit will certainly make me think twice before I invade their airspace again. I had to wait a very long time for my food, though the place was hardly busy. Drinks are only available from a drink case, which seemed inconvenient, and there was no real way to get any type of refills without buying another drink. The place clearly sends out a "please take your food to go, you are not welcome here" vibe. What worries me even more is when someone could care less about such awful presentation in the front of the house, then what lurks in the back of the house where customers do not see? I had both beef and chicken with my dish. The beef was terrific, but the portion size was small. The sauces that come with the food were likewise really great. The chicken was okay, but a bit bland, and there was clearly no effort made to trim off fat or gristle. I have definitely had much better hummus. Food is absolutely delicious. It's compared extreme fresh the chicken is grilled on like open flame and the rice is Divine and the sauce is scrumptious. The cooks are really friendly. You can eat in the restaurant but I always order to go the restaurant itself is not the most appealing. It does not even look like you can eat there but you actually can dining. I always order mine to go. And I am never disappointed. Nice portion size enough to share with 3 people 2 if you're really hungry. You get about what eight pieces of chicken side of rice and salad pretty pretty good meal. They have a couple of different sauces one being hummus tubing baba ganoush and thirdly taziky sauce that is really good. You can sub out any one for the other with no problem. Love the food here! My family has been coming here for many years to buy ingredients to make many of the Lebanese dishes we make since it can be so hard to find some of them in regular stores. One Christmas a few years back we ordered kibbeh balls because my mom didn't want to bake it. We honestly could not stop eating them, they were so good. Sometimes my husband and I stop by here to grab dinner too and their pita sandwiches are awesome. The ladies working there can be a little brusque at times, but I think that's a cultural thing. They are good at their jobs and overall are very friendly. Also the interior isn't exactly beautiful. But this is a place to get some decent Middle Eastern food, so I feel like a lot of that can be overlooked. Definitely one of my favorites! read more

I try not to judge a book by its cover, so should many out in the AV or they will miss out on many great little places, that yeah look ugly on the outside (and maybe even on the inside), but pack all its greatness into the food. I decided to go into the AV Kabob House after my doctors office all had their lunch break, this was right across from it and I felt adventurous and trying something new. I've never had real middle eastern kabobs but from what I had there they were great. I went with a Lamb Kofta Pita. I'm usually a picky eater, I hate tomatoes, weird things I've never seen, and sauces I've never had. I didn't want to go in there and butcher the natural taste of what I'm suppose to be having, so I left it alone. Once I got it I was amazed, it was a lot bigger than what the picture had shown! I was still hesitant at first because of all these new things, but I took one bite and loved it! The lamb was juicy, the lettuce crisp, the pickled turnips & the white sauce were a new surprise, and even the tomato added on to it. Do your self a favor and don't change anything eat it as the people would. I wish I would have remembered the name for Baklava because I've always wanted to try it but it wasn't until I got home to look up the name for it that I remembered. The young hostess/ cashier/ kind of a waitress (must be the daughter of the owner) was insanely beautiful in my opinion. This was GREAT place!!! The food is fresh and delicious. I had the #12 which was a bit of a salad, hummus, pita bread, chicken, and rice. The chicken was so tender, juicy, flavorful! I even ate it cold later on and it was STILL good. The rice was perfectly cooked! I did try the baklava and the falafel from my friends' plates. The baklava was okay but the falafel was VERY GOOD TOO!!! :) This is a mom-n-pop owned restaurant attached to a little market. That being said the people were super nice. The wife/mother really took care in plating the food. That was something new to see at a restaurant! Price is decent. I paid $11.00 for a medium bottle of water and the plate I just described.
