The irony is that I cannot even comment on the quality of AV Painting's services. I asked for an estimate for painting the exterior of my home back in late February. I was in the process of gathering three bids, as I am relatively new to the area and wanted to make sure I was getting a fair price. The estimator showed up on time and did the measurements he needed to and then asked if he could come inside to talk with us about the estimate. Then the hard sell began. He said that if we signed up with AV Painting on the spot, even though I had not gotten a second or third estimate, he would be able to get me a lower price if we were willing to vouch for the company and allow them to put a sign in our yard. I told him I was not comfortable signing up with the first company I heard from. He then said that they would be willing to match another price or maybe it was that they would let me out of an agreement with them if I could prove that another company was providing the same service for less. I understand how these things work, however, and I told him no. I was going to get my other estimates because, well, I'm a responsible adult. This man continued to try to sell me on the company. I had to say no three or four times and basically had to ask him to leave. It must be said that I ended up getting three other estimates and not one of them came in and sat down at my dining table and harangued me about their estimate. Needless to say, I was pretty turned off. But this was just the beginning. Over the course of the next weeks and now months, I have made clear more than four times that I will not be hiring them. I got a call two weeks ago and nearly yelled at the man to please leave me alone. I told him that they had lost my business and that I was not interested. This has not stopped them from contacting me. In fact, I just received an email today. Literally months after I have told them via email and via phone that I was not interested in hiring them, I am still receiving contacts from this company. At this point, I'm actually curious how they get any business at all. They have somehow found a way to match aggressive, hard sell tactics with a complete inability to respond to clear communication. If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the time and hassle of dealing with this unprofessional company. read more

Warning,, the estimator would not leave without a $1000 non refundable check to hold a start date. He then wondered why I needed time to decide. I WAS GETTING ESTIMATES. They may use high pressure sales tactics. Also using a laptop instead of paper forms to sign allowed them to make a fraudulent change on my signed estimate. I can not trust them. We had a situation where we were working with a company during a minor renovation who referred us to a separate painter to prep and paint the space. That painter royally screwed up on all fronts (inconsistent coating, horrible line cutting, messy), and so we were left with finding a new painter to fix the mess on very short notice so that the project wouldn't get delayed any longer than it already had been. We called AV Painting the following morning, and Aaron (owner) was extremely sympathetic to our situation, and was able to secure us a painter *the next day*. Now this may not be typical since they are busy, but our project was a small one that required a day's worth of work. Our painter was Jonathan, and he fully understood how messed up our original paint job was. He was able to fix everything, and made the room look amazing. He was on time, professional, high quality, and respected our space. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking to refresh their space. read more

Contacted AV painting to paint unpainted wood from a new roof. Jose came out, photographed the areas to be painted, he made some recommendations, explained it would take 3 days to paint, and that next week the weather would be in their favor for painting. He explained he would require a 50% deposit to PROCEED. He left with a check for $4500, and we would receive a detailed estimate in a day. After a few day's we received the estimate for the job, and an email a day later, for scheduling and color selection. Colors were provided at the initial meeting, and photos were taken of the cans of paint. AV Painting stated that they are scheduling for END OF APRIL IN 7 MONTHS. Deposit is only to lock in your price. This company is a complete waste of my time, and now a waste of my money - $30 to cancel my check. Do yourself a favor, trust your gut and AVOID AV PAINTING! read more

If I could give A/V Painting 0 stars I would. I'm a single woman and I wanted to trust them. They promise a warranty but there is no warranty. I have a small two-bedroom apartment in Seattle. They painted the two bedrooms, living room, and kitchen. The price was $7400. It was not worth it. The paint they recommended has worn terribly and there is paint on all my hardware. I blame myself for trusting them. Some areas have weird discoloration, and the walls are easily dirtied and scratched. I'm not too fond of the feeling of being financially exploited. I had thought I identified a trustworthy contractor. I asked the owner, Aaron if one of his painters could remove the paint on my hardware. I told him I would tip the painter for his time. I heard nothing from him. I am not asking for them to paint my apartment again but at least they could fix flaws and remove the paint on my hardware. I should have trusted my gut. read more

After AV Painting blanketed our neighborhood with flyers "hi, we have a job in you area and since we'll already be mobilized, wanted to see if your interested in an estimate....blah, blah, blah". This was all B.S. I scheduled an estimate, but then it was promptly cancelled by the company (online, no courtesy phone call) because they only wanted whole house painting jobs. I guess all their slick website words are just that - slick. You know what you can do with your slick marketing, poor customer service, and maximum profit only mentality! read more

AV Painting painted my living room and hallway and it was done to perfection. Arturo, the painter was on-time, tidy, friendly, communicative and did a beautiful job. The whole job was done in a day and a half and before I knew it, all of the masking and sheeting (which was also done perfectly, to protect our floors and furniture) was gone and all that was left was for us to enjoy our updated space. Their price came in a little lower than two other companies that I used, which was nice as painting is an expensive prospect, but you don't want to overpay for the project you have. My new home and myself were violated by AV Painting. (I'll get to the painting job later). On the day I got the keys from my new condo, carpet had stripes from cleaning machine and looked pristine. I worked on one wall (removed wood panels) the next two days and covered carpet by the wall with adhesive film and canvas. AV painters had guts to enter this clean condo and to paint without covering carpet and floor. I walked in and saw their large paint tray sitting on the carpet, when I asked them to cover carpet, the guy said: "Are not you replacing the carpet?" (I never told them that I am). I asked Aaron to tell them to cover floors. Next time I met them, they walked upstairs with paint, I told them to cover carpet before they start their work. They looked surprised, went back and brought clean canvas. Third time I saw them our conversation was the same as second time (is it called loop in programming?). After they finished their work, I cleaned carpets with my cleaning machine, water was dirty, and a lot of paint chips were on the machine brush. Black freezer, black stove, black granite kitchen counter, bamboo floors, and steel rod in the bathroom are covered with tiny spots on white paint. I asked them to clean up the stove, they removed some paint, but a lot is left. They offered to clean it up with a solvent after my time for painting was over. They painted power switches panel over and sealed it. I had to open it and some paint separated from the metal (BTW, metal surfaces require a different type of paint). They re-painted the edges and now there are two or one layer of paint in different areas of the panel. They asked me where to leave the keys, and they left the keys at the right spot, but they left the door unlocked. Aaron had no reaction when I told him about it, the painter said: "How are we supposed to lock the door if we left the keys inside?" No apologies. They had to fix a few things, Aaron told me that they would start between 7 am and 8 am the next day, I got there at 7:15 am and called Aaron at 8:30 am to find out where are these people. Aaron replied that at the very same moment he is working with the very same painter on another project (no apologies from Aaron). They arrived at 9:45 am instead of 8 am, and I asked them to text me when they are done. Of course, they did not. I left water on the counter for them and was surprised to find freezer on when I stopped by. They wanted cold water, put bottles in the fridge and helped themselves by turning the fridge on. I needed to clean the fridge before turning it on, but who cares, right? Now about painting. It took them 8 days to paint 500 sq ft condo, ceiling, walls and trip with one color. They did help a lot with other things: they brought in and installed new trim for one wall, and they took apart a closet and took it and more wood out of the condo They worked Friday and Saturday, on Sunday and Monday I told Aaron that they need to complete a few things (did not paint the closet doors inside, barely toughed up bathroom door edge (it was painted partially), power switches panel had to be dealt with (see above). And there was a wide horizontal stripe in the middle of the wall in living room. I am not discussing this stripe because the painters said this is a dry wall tape trace (it was not visible before they painted it), and I know nothing about it. They came to fix the things on Wednesday and Friday, the stripe in living room is still there, it is very noticeable. Overall quality of painting (walls, ceiling and trim) is good. On Monday (11th day) they brought me the keys and genuinely asked: "Are you happy?" And wanted to remove paint with a solvent, but my time with them was over. read more

Aaron took care of a pretty tough problem for us last summer. We have a Douglas Fir front door painted dark and it was bleeding a lot of sap. We contracted with AV Painting to paint our home and they subcontracted to another outfit to do the job. Within 3 years, we saw paint badly peeling, mainly on the southern exposure. From talking with other painters, we think that the group that did our house didn't pretreat the wood adequately or use the right paint for a house in the Northwest. We talked to Aaron about these problems around 4 years after the house was painted, but he did not back up his job. Instead, he offered to charge us more to repaint the affected areas. He sent me the estimate just a few days later, and it was similar or a little less expensive than other bids I had received.
