Stay away from Rami Avadi. By far the most unpleasant agent I've ever had the displeasure of working with. He will be unresponsive when you need answers and aggressively overbearing when he wants something from you. Rude, condescending, and unprofessional - and that was when I called him to confirm my interest in a unit! Truly bizarre privilege on this guy. Do not trust his listings - he lied about the square footage in the one I responded to. Do not give him a good faith deposit, because he doesn't act in kind. I didn't meet anyone else from Skyline Group so I can't speak to them all, but considering that he's the President of the company, I have my concerns. Josephine is the greatest. Not only did she help me find a great apartment and was supportive through the entires process, she was there through move in. The landlord didn't have everything ready and though she didn't have to, Josephine was there for support. There wasn't anything she needed to or could do. I rented an apartment through these jokers, or, more specifically, through an agent named Lisa Walker who works for them. Turns out that they put me in an apartment with a certifiably insane landlord who lived in the building. The guy was caught steeling our upstairs neighbor's air conditioner, would frequently break into our apartment, ring our doorbell at 1 a.m, write us threatening letters, etc. The previous tenants had been driven from their place based on the landlord after only a few months and we moved right in. Lisa Walker knew of this problem, but never mentioned it to us, and actively prevented us from meeting the landlord before we signed a lease. Once she had her commission, she could care less what type of dump we ended up in. Heck, we only lasted two months . . . good news for her because she got another commission from whatever rube she put in there to take our place. Not to mention the fact that it was an illegal rental in the first place (3 units in a 2 unit building). Lisa Walker cannot be trusted. read more

Rami Avadi is the most unprofessional realtor I have ever worked with. He was rude, condescending, and impatient with us on almost every step throughout the process. Although we, as the renters, were covering the broker's fee, he did not vouch for us at any point. In fact, one day when we asked a question, he actually replied: "I am not sure why at every email with basic instructions I send there is a different request that you ask for?" He also asked us for a deposit with the application, which we provided, and then later when we asked to delay the lease signing for THREE DAYS (he gave us ONE business day notice and requested certified bank checks) he assured us that we would lose the apartment and that the money we gave to him as a security deposit was actually a deposit for his broker's fee. This man is very deceitful and horrible to work with. I am not sure what he did for us since we found the apartment on Zillow, paid the credit checks ourselves, and had to settle for an inconvenient and very last-minute lease signing. Let me warn and tell you to stay away from this fake real estate company. This an honest review of my experience this month February 2020. Rami Avadi, Karina Ortiz and Ari Lipsker are the ones I've dealt with. They will send Karina out to show you what is known as a bait apartment. Apartment hunting is stressful as it is and these people make it worse with their lies, un-reputable name and leaving you in the dark for weeks. If it seems to good to be true, trust your gut instincts. Bait apartments are apartments that never get rented but they keep showing it to potential renters every month while trying to increase the price until they get someone silly enough to pay more than what they should. It also allows them to look like they are working to keep themselves in business. While you are waiting and hoping to get a place you never hear back from them! They have all your personal documents on file and lord knows what they are doing with it! They even sound unprofessional over the phone like scam artist! They left me in a bad situation, giving me false hopes and I never got anywhere with them! Save your time and don't believe any of the positive reviews that they probably paid people to write. I know renting in New York is expensive and only continues to increase, but taking advantage of those looking for a new home is a completely new level! I don't normally write reviews like this, or at all for that matter (says everyone) unless they are over the top exceptional or disgraceful. In this case, This real estate company an one of its brokers by the name of David Kafko, went above and beyond to take advantage of a situation. Long story short- My husband and I have a dog, a pitbull mix, about 40-45lbs, which creates added difficulties when looking for a new apartment. we found a listing for a beautiful apartment in Greenwood and went to an open house. David was the listed broker. After taking a brief look around, I specifically asked him about the dog policy. his response was, "yes, pets are allowed." and I questioned further with specifics; Dogs? Medium- sized dogs? approx. 40-45lbs? any breed restrictions? His answer again, "yup, all good." So, we continued to go forward with our pursuit of this listing. He had some sob story about the last person screwing him over because she did not put a deposit down and he took it off the market. After going through the application process, $150.00 Credit check (which went through as a hard pull on my credit), and $2500.00 deposit, he then proceeded to tell us that we were approved through everything else, except for the dog. This is after holding out large deposit for a whole week. He explained that the landlord wasn't sure about the dog's size because of the previous tenant having a larger dog and the person below complaining too much. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! Why weren't we aware of this earlier? Did he do that on purpose hoping that the landlord would just go with it? or did he know and just want to make money off of the credit check? This listing had been up for quite a while and specifically said PETS ALLOWED, with no specifications. Trying to be understanding, I gracefully said that I would pick up the deposit and thought it only right that they refund the credit check money as well seeing as we applied under false pretenses obviously, and they all but laughed at us after saying no. I even asked that the owner take into consideration that this is a unique situation and that I didn't want to make it a bigger issue. David even offered to give us the money out of his own pocket after begging not to make it an issue or go to the landlord. REALLY? who does that unless they know they were in the wrong?! IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE OF THIS REVIEW, PLEASE READ THIS: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BROKER, DAVID KAFKO OR WITH SKYLINE GROUP. THEY SHOW NO SINCERITY OR HONESTY FOR THEIR CLIENTS AND INSTEAD ARE OUT TO MAKE A DOLLAR OFF YOU ANY WAY THEY CAN. I say it again, finding apartments in New York is hard enough without feeling like every Real Estate company is out to get your money, and only that, as well. read more
