I received a Japanese thermal straightening service from the owner, Billy Ho. My first appointment…read morewith him gave me a beautiful result with a mirror shine, but I got caught in the rain right after, so we had to do a retouch. While sitting in the chair for the retouch, he told me he would try his best. Based on the last results, I trusted him completely. During the chemical processing, he pulled too hard on my head while doing stress tests. I had a three-step Hime cut, and he asked if my other stylist who cut it was Asian. He asked where she worked, where she went to school, and if it was a school. I told him I would just send her portfolio info.I explicitly told him that I am terrible with a paddle brush and a blow dryer. Despite knowing this, he still sent me home damp with a wet underside and told me to dry it myself at home. It took me an hour and a half to get home, where I continued to sweat for another 20 minutes. I spent four hours after just trying to get the kinks out of my hair at home because it dried funny.My hair is perfectly straight, but the entire length from the root down is not even close to being as shiny as it was and looks terrible, with a frizzy spot in the back and on the side. In person, the difference is night and day. He got the kinks out, but he also got the blinding shine out. I paid for this service in cash. My halo shine is completely gone from the first treatment, and I was told it's unlikely that it'll come back without major moisturizer all the time forever on those lengths and I'll need rebonding treatments, but it'll never be quite the same again.I am giving three stars down from five because of the retouch. As long as you don't get caught in the rain and need a free retouch, you'll probably be fine. I'm still in shock, I know he said he would try his best, but he didn't guarantee anything either, I trusted him completely. and implicitly While going above and beyond to try and protect the style, even staying up 30 hours so I didn't get creases. At least it didn't melt off. This was my first and last treatment. I don't think I'm going to do this anymore. I am a very patient person, which Billy commented on as well, but I don't quite know how to handle this. I am completely gutted and a little bit heartbroken--that is seven years of my life, and the first thing that I cared about after my illness was getting my hair fixed. I should've left well enough alone, a little flat iron daily, but caveat emptor.
