At first I was very happy with Sandy, but then she seemed to get rushed and my toes especially were awful, but what really put me off was she hands me over to her husband without even asking my permission she told me after he does a particular manicure better, I let it go, next time she threw my jacket on her husband's chair without a word to me, He did the worst job I was in tears, I went back and requested she re-do, she did it begrudgingly. I was a regular, tipped cash over 20%, and to be treated this way was wrong The other issue I had was TWICE they messed up my appointment and someone else had to start me. again I gave it more chances no more. read more

I put off getting my first gel manicure forever because I was so afraid of damaging my nails or having them look less-than-good for longer than normal. Stopped by this jewel of a salon and by chance the owner ended up doing my nails - beautiful, professional work and he's a very pleasant, welcoming, and patient person. I highly recommend Avalon and will definitely go back. My only mistake was going somewhere closer to me for removal, and they did all the damage I feared when they removed the gel. Lesson learned, I should have come back to Avalon to let them handle it and won't make that mistake again - all nail salons are NOT created equal! read more

This was hands down the best nail experience of my life!! I am not from here so I was looking for a salon close to my hotel. I get my nails done often and am pretty picky. I was a little hesitant to go to Avalon because it only had 3 stars but after reading the content in the reviews, I decided to schedule my appointment there over some of the other salons around me. Upon arrival, I was greeted, sat down and immediately pampered. Dylan was my technician and he went above and beyond for both my gel toenails and my dip manicure with extensions. The salon was clean and very nice, the staff was kind and professional, and my nails are the best I've ever had! They are also very affordable and worth every penny! I got a shellac manicure (which is what I always get) and every other place makes it too thick or gets too close to the cuticles or is just sloppy. If you're looking for a salon where you feel valued and cared for, this is not the place. This was our first pedicure, and we went here on a friend's recommendation. We made an appointment but waited for 15 minutes. Then it felt rushed. The woman who did my feet constantly jumped up to answer the phone or help people, and she hardly looked at me except to order me to move my feet in and out of the water. At one point, she engaged in a loud conversation with two other techs and even had a phone conversation while painting my nails. I felt dismissed, like I was just there to make them some money. I would never go back. I will say that my feet looked good, and they have a good selection of colors, but I was disappointed that they didn't sell the product so I could do touch ups. This is my second time going here for a mani pedi. I have had acrylic nails for more than 30 years so I am very particular. I called ahead to make an appointment. I was taken at the exact appointment time. I told them that I needed someone who was very good at pink and whites. They gave me a gentleman named Sam. He did my pedicure, which was good. Absolutely horrible experience! Worst I have ever had. I was a walk in at 3:00pm for a fill and pedicure me and my friend. They said they could see us at 4:30 we leave and get back at 4:30 they put us in the pedicure chairs. My friend got assisted after about 15 minutes. Myself ended up waiting exactly 47 min. My water got cold twice and the only reason I got assisted was I complained and asked if I was being seen. When I arrived the place was busy when they started working on my pedi there was only a handful of people left. So where did all these workers go? I was fuming inside. Then my pedi was so rushed it wasn't even enjoyable it took her literally less than 15 min. It shouldn't take three plus hours to have your nails and feet done. I love getting my pedicures done here. I always get a pedi that lasts forever. The service is also excellent. I can't even imagine why anyone would give this place a bad review. I've been going here since I moved to florida seven years ago. I've tried other places, but nowhere gives as good a pedi as this place. Once I was in here with my friend and pulled up Yelp to check in, I started to get nervous with the 1 and a half star rating. But to my surprise, I didn't have the same concerns others did. The place was clean and was well organized. There was a solid selection of colors. My only complaint was my technician who did my pedicure. No attention to detail, terrible massage and no top coat. While I was under the dryer, I finally had to ask the man at the front if I could have a top coat. The technician came over saying he put one on. I have been coming here now for a while and while not perfect, they certainly aren't as bad as the amount of negative reviews would have you believe. Not to detract from those who leave negative reviews... I'm sure their visit warranted the review given, but most of them are based on one visit. All of that said, this place is truly hit or miss. I have had great experiences, and some no-so-great. Sometimes I go and they do a great job on my mani/pedi, it's relaxing, and the people are nice and seem to care that you have a good experience. Other times I have been there and seen some of the very things that other reviewers have mentioned, such as the owner's kids running around, sometimes screaming, and the work done as quickly as possible to get the next person in and done. Perhaps not by coincidence, my best experiences have been on Sundays when they're not overbooked and in a hurry to get things done. On a Saturday afternoon, perhaps pick elsewhere because you're probably not going to be happy with the service. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. Consider yourself warned. Pros: Decent manicure/pedicures when not rushed, they take walk-ins almost any time unless REALLY booked up, conveniently located in Coconut Point where you can go shopping or out to eat before or after, prices in line with other nail salons. Cons: They sometimes rush you through, occasional kids running around and being loud which detracts from the relaxing experience, sometimes inconsistent quality of pedicure depending on who does it. read more

I went for a polish change on my fingers and toes. Rude welcome upon entering. Technician came to do my nails and never greeted me or said hello, just told me to sit. She stood and held my hand the whole time she slopped the polish on. Then she left and never came back. After 20 minutes I had to go find her so I could leave. She was doing someone else's nails. While I can't comment on their manicures/pedicures I strongly urge you to find some place else if you are in need of a waxing. I just had a bikini wax and it was an awkward and painful experience. The woman came in the room with me and had me leave my underwear on to wax around it. She did nothing to prep my skin and just began applying the wax and tearing off the sheets without any attempt to lesson the pull or the pain afterwards. She held the wax stick in her mouth and at one point dropped the cloth on the floor but continued using it on my bikini. She paid no attention to lines or made any attempts to even the sides. It was over in less than ten minutes and she brusquely applied some type of stinging oil at the very end. The nail section of the salon seems nice enough and was busy for a Saturday evening but I would not return for a waxing and just want to warn other visitors. read more

So with the time he took to get set up I'd say my $28 "pedicure" was a solid 10-12 minutes. I am absolutely PISSED. I feel like he completely rushed through it like he had better things to do. And they want me to pay $28 for a MAYBE 12 minute pedicure? I'll be saying something to the manager before leave, which I've had issues here before and it's been probably over a year since I've been here. And when I had issues then the same manager didn't do crap, so I'm not expecting him to do anything this time around. NEVER EVER COMING BACK!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
