Made an appointment here because our other two salons were fully booked. Waited 5 minutes as asked, then just ten more minutes! 5 more minutes I promise! My friend was able to get a pedicure -- 45 minutes later. I opted to only have gel manicure removed because my technician was now over an HOUR late. It's awful here. I got a gel manicure and pedicure, and just one day later, the gel polish completely came off my nails. I couldn't believe how quickly it peeled. I went back immediately, and they told me the polish was defective and redid it using a different one. The picture shows how my nails looked just five days after the second application. Ok, so, this place has changed management. They're all new techs but whoever did the waxing on Wednesday 5/19 did a terrible terrible job. She didn't introduce herself (shocker) and wasn't friendly at all. She had bangs so I couldn't even see her brows! I told her how I liked my brows shaped and she told me how she was going to just "clean" them up. I expressed to her I don't need them "cleaned" I need them shaped and when she finished the only thing waxed was my skin. Meaning she skinned my face never waxed my brows. I went home and had to tweeze. She was terribly unfriendly (language barrier or not you can feel energy) and I won't be returning. They should be charging $7 instead of $12 for this in-training esthetician. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now, but the last year they've really impressed me! In the area it's the most comfortable salon, and well maintained. I have found their gel polish lasts the longest, I can get about a full 2 weeks before getting it redone. When I've gone to other nail salons it usually starts chipping after 3 days! This place is horrible when it comes to waxing. I literally left there feeling like a toddler waxed me, I was completely sticky. Also, they're pressed about you bringing cash for a tip. Although the services was bad I did give a tip. I will not be returning there again. Oh and my eyebrows don't even look like they were touched. I went back again for a quick nail appointment. Overall I like this place. The girls were nice and did a good job overall. My only annoyance is that I got my nails done with acrylic and gel polish.. after I left the acrylic chipped. I went back the next day and got it fixed and then later that night the same thing happened to another nail. I don't know if it's the bonding agent they use or if it was drilled or filed too thin. I don't feel like driving all the way back again so I'll deal.. Update: It's been a weak and they are falling apart. The nails are separating and lifting? Not happy! read more

My cousin and I made appointments for a manicure and pedicure here. When we got there, they didn't have any record of the appointment, but they did have an opening and were able to fit me in for my pedicure right away. My cousin, on the other hand, sat there bored and watched me get a pedicure. By the time I was done, they still hadn't gotten to her. I was unimpressed with the pedicure itself. It was very sloppy, and the polish ended up on my toes in several places. The staff wasn't particularly friendly, and I don't intend to return. read more

I've been a repeat customer because Avalon is convenient for me. Because of that I have set aside their rudeness here and there...but today was the last straw. I took my 9 year old daughter out for a mother/daughter day and I accidentally dropped a single nail polish-there was NO mess and I still sincerely apologized multiple times immediately. In front of the entire store, the lady yelled and shamed us saying that we "need to be more careful" and that "if it makes a mess SHE would have to clean it." I have never seen this behavior from any establishment until today. Not in any store or restaurant! My daughter became teary-eyed and really embarrassed so we had to leave immediately. I will no longer give this place any money. There is a reason they're cheaper than other places-spend the 5 extra dollars and go somewhere who appreciates you as a customer! Also, any establishment that treats children in this way is not worth it!! read more

I like this place a lot. It's my go-to for gel polish on my finger nails, as well as for eyebrow waxing. I like their work, I feel like they listen to me. Pricing is good. The one major down-side, other than that the manicure stations are set up so you have to crane to see the TVs, is the sole lady who's in there working most mornings does very sub-par work. I used to go in while my son was at preschool in the morning, but at some point Bihn An (I think that's how you spell it?) started being the one on the morning shift. After 3 times of getting my gel polish royally messed up, my cuticles cut painfully and unevenly, and one instance of selling me a pedicure that would "only be $12 more" which I then had to pay full price for, I was over it. Now I go somewhere else or only go in on weekends, even though it means waiting longer and it being more crowded. Everyone else here is fine. Kim is particularly good at eyebrows. Avoid coming in in the hour after opening. read more

I've had this done to my nails at several other places over the years and have NEVER had nails just come right off, and in such a short time. Upon entering, you will get a great impression of this nail salon. It is very new (about 2 years old) and is really nice decorated. It also seems very clean. The manager seems extremely friendly and they offer you bottled water upon arrival. I have received a manicure here and was pleased with the job that they did. I got a french manicure and it lasted almost a week - which is unheard of! The nail technician was fairly nice, but there was some cultural misunderstandings, I believe. She asked my if I had a special occasion for getting my nails done and I told her I was going to a wedding the next day. She told me I needed a pedicure too and I told her "no thank you, because I am wearing close toed shoes to the wedding" - She then said "You are wearing closed toed shoes? That is not fashionable!" I know she was trying to up sell me, but I thought the comment was downright rude. I shrugged it off. As if that wasn't enough - she tried to up sell me again by telling me that I needed to get my Eyebrows waxed. I politely told her that I just had my eyebrows waxed elsewhere 2 days ago and she said and I quote ...."it looks like you did it yourself, not very good". What can you say to this? I get my eyebrows waxed here regularly, they always seem to rush, even if business is slow. They do an OK job, some better than others. Can't complain for $10+tip I guess. A friend and I got our nails done there a while back, and she was fluent in their language (I'm not sure what exactly it is), but she told me after all the nasty things they were saying- especially about the customers, and about us.. A man gave me a manicure and was too rough on my cuticles it made my fingers bleed, he didn't even get all of my dead skin off.... and he didn't bother to paint my nails all the way to the cuticles.. my nails looked better when I walked in there than when I left!!! Not to mention he didn't even say hello or acknowledge I was there.. as he huffed and puffed the entire time and wouldn't let me have the mini fan to dry my nails because as soon as he sat down he took it away from me and pointed it on himself. I called and asked for the price twice , then when they started on my nails they changed the price to higher mind you none of my nails were broken or anything and my nails were the same exact things as my mothers.I would recommend not going here such a mess. had a great experience here from the time I walked into the front door. The young lady at the reception desk was friendly, smiling and helpful and took me right back to the pedicure area. Nancy was there to take care of me right away, she was also very friendly, offered me a drink and wasted no time getting to get me comfortable. The pedicure itself was thorough, the foot and leg massage we're absolutely one of the best I've ever had and lasted longer than my past experiences elsewhere.
