Despite the bad reviews I have been here twice in the past few months for pedicures and had good experiences. I was able to snag a walk in appointment with a minimal wait both times. The staff was nice. They took their time with my feet. They even use plastic liners in the pedicure basin to keep them clean. The prices are ok. They don't seem to be consistent. For a gel pedicure I paid $50 this visit. It was less the last visit. My only complaint would be that they didn't use anything but lotions to scrub the dry skin from my feet. No pumice. read more

I've been going to this nail salon for well over 5 years. They're not the friendliest but they do a decent job and they're close to my house. Michelle use to do my nails and she begin to be very rude. I've been in there several times where they talked bad about customers after they left. One time recently, there was a women who spoke the same language as them who told me everything they were saying. After that experience, I will not be returning to this nail salon. They're disrespectful to Americans and lack customer service. There's too many other salons In the area for anyone to have to deal with the service provided at this salon. Dropped my daughter off at a birthday party in the mall and went in search of a place to get a much needed pedi and a gel mani. This place was busy but it didn't look like many were waiting. I waited about 20 minutes. My technician was meticulous with my neglected cuticles. The pedi chairs are massage chairs, with quite a strong massage. Even though they were busy, my tech took her time. PEOPLE, DON'T COME HERE!!! Worst salon experience I've ever had. I came in for a pedicure and asked for a pink color for my nail beds with a white French tip. I didn't get a smile or a welcoming from any of the employees. After I told them what I wanted, I was pushed into just doing a normal French tip after explaining to them multiple times what I wanted but I guess they didn't understand. I don't like being pushed but since it was my first time, I let them do it. An older man (not gentleman since he was far from being gentle) that was doing my pedi was too ROUGH with my feet. The water I dipped my feet in, was too hot to which I jumped and told him it was hot but he didn't care. He cut my toe nails too short and kept filing until he was filing my flesh. When he scrubbed my feet, It was so painful to the point where I was gripping the chair and my phone. If you want an uncomfortable experience with a rude employee that treats your feet and hands like trash, this is the place. I will never come back. read more

Why Tyoko? Why go to a place with 1 star? Yes, that's exactly what I asked myself when it was over. To their credit, both of the ladies that did me and my daughter's pedicures were nice. I was on the verge of aggravation when they asked twice if I wanted a manicure after I wrote on the clipboard, told the person who asked me to pick my polish and told the nail tech when I sat down. She seemed a little irritated at first when I repeated I only wanted a pedicure which was odd but it didn't last long. The massage was a tad bit weak in comparison to other nail shops. The polish job looks like it was completed by an amateur and I had to point out that parts of my nails were missing polish. I take care of my feet and they don't look like knuckles or tater tots so it's not difficult to see my toe nails. After the polish, she attempted to put my sandals on which became a disaster but no need to make a scene since I can clean them. I just expect more attention to detail. At this point in my life, I don't want to hoot and holler about poor service all the time. Honestly, I just know where not to go and this place is, unfortunately, on that list. For the convenience, it was great but you get what you don't plan for. If they get their act together, it could be an awesome shop. read more

I was looking for a nail place close by and after scrolling through Google I saw Avalon Lifestyle Nails in the Robinson Mall. I was impressed by all the pictures I saw and there were also mixed reviews both good and bad so I decided that me and my daughter would give it a try. We scheduled a appointment with Phil who I believe is the owner he was very welcoming and polite. He knows his stuff and would explain everything as we went along step by step. I got a full set of nails with colored acrylic and I decided to get one unicorn nail on each hand which looks really neat. My daughter got a fill with gel polish. The prices are reasonable and competitive with other nail salons. I have had my nails on for two weeks now and their still on no broken or lifting nails so far. read more

I wouldn't say I've a ton of visits to many nail salons in my day, but this one was pretty forgettable. My girlfriend and I were getting pedicures before our vacation trip to Mexico. My GF had never had a pedicure before and I was limited on experience as well. The guy who waited on my GF was nice and talkative. It was cool to have someone just shoot the breeze with us while we got our dogs worked on. Now, the young lady who waited on me however was not talkative at all. I wonder if it had something to do with the major attention needed for my feet haha. But I was unimpressed by the service that was delivered. The lady was rather quick. I got a toenail trim and file, a cuticle clean and then finally a calve rubdown. I know my dogs were in rough conditions but there is no way I should leave the same way. I wouldn't recommend Avalon Nails & Spa to anyone. My GF and I agreed, we will be looking elsewhere next time we need the dogs touched up for vacation. read more

Ok, confession time. I have not had a pedicure until March of this year at Avalon. I wanted my toes to look great on the beach, and figured I'd give that gel nail polish I've heard so much about a try. They turned out all right, though I was a little underwhelmed with the experience I had at Avalon. Mall nail salons don't have the best reputation, but I only decided to go to the mall and find Avalon after going to Nail Studio II down the road and seeing it was closed for the day. It was about 7:30 and the mall closes at 9, so my boyfriend and I had plenty of time to get our feet looking right for our upcoming vacation. Without throwing him under the bus, let's just say my his feet aren't the most glamorous thing. We were seated quickly in an almost empty salon and a woman began filling the water for our feet. She handed me a sheet with pricing on it and I opted for the basic gel pedicure that includes the salt scrub, hot towel, brief massage (seriously BRIEF), and the whole 9 yards with getting my nails painted. I got a male nail tech who was friendly and talkative, which made the experience pleasant. I take pride in how well I care for my nails, so he skipped over some of the dirty work I guess he'd have to do otherwise. The woman that was working hard on my boyfriend's feet didn't speak much English, but she was very fast and he finished up well before I did, though his pedicure didn't include a couple coats of a shimmery polish like mine. I chose a nice pink shade with some glitter. My nail tech did 3 coats of paint and honestly I probably should have told him to add a 4th. It's been about 2 weeks since I visited Avalon and my feet have survived 6 days of the beach as well as the routine wear and tear of wearing flats that almost always rub off the edges of my non-gel nail polishes. They look ok, but the polish is definitely more translucent than I'd like it to be. Both of our pedis totaled out at $73 and I left feeling like I wasn't sure it was worth it, but my nail tech did his job. Next time I'll probably look elsewhere, but I'm not overly impressed with Avalon. My impression was that a pedicure would have me feeling luxurious and relaxed, but it was so short that it was over before I knew it and I was on my way. It was nice to not be the one painting my own toes, but aside from that I wasn't feeling the spa-like vibes I was looking for. read more

Not impressed. I was desperate to get a pedicure when here for a volleyball tournament because I had a work event immediately after and my toes mainly needed a cuticle clean up and minimal filing. I was rushed through, no cuticle cream. Spa notion was a joke. Got the most lackluster smacking around with some gritty substance. I'd call this pedicure a color change+, not a pedicure and definitely not a spa pedicure to the tune of $28. If that's the experience you're looking for go for it. At least the whole experience was 20 minutes and not, like, an hour. Then I would have been furious. read more

I just got a simple gel manicure and the guy I got just kind of smacked on the polish and threw my hand under the lamp as fast as he could. All of the tips are nearly bare and both of my thumb nails are painted unevenly and have bubbles. Was not happy with the overall experience. If you want quick and not concerned about how well they look, this is the place. To start, you sign in on a sheet and there's more yelling back and forth about who's free (a receptionist of some some sort might be nice). They separated my young daughter and I (so not the point of bringing her). They did not talk with either of us. Tech was not happy because I wanted just manicure (not shellac) and rushed me through. They do not have a system to check you out or followup. Just left us at the drying station (ie a table with lights). Went to the desk to check out and they just took my card and swiped. Did not say the cost or anything. Would not recommend if you want a decent manicure and respected as a paying customer. read more

So I went here on my day off hoping to get my nails and toes done! It was a filthy salon and the service was awful! I was charged $83 and walked out of there without even having my nails polished -they were too busy! All the are concerned with is bringing the next customer in and making sure to get money. I will never return. I went in for a fill today and was told I'd have a 30 minute wait- totally understandable being a walk in place. I waited and hour and 5 minutes. I still tried to be understanding but could no longer get a fill because I was late for a reservation elsewhere and asked them to please just do a "take off." First, the woman used a nail to scrape under my acrylic which hurt like hell.. and I told her it hurt... and let my nails pop off at other customers which was disgusting. My nails are aching but the worst part is she was talking to someone and buff my actual nail causing it to tear and bleed!!! Then told me to soak in acetone which hurt SO bad. I made an appointment for my mom and I to get manicures and signature pedicures. The technician removed a callus from my mom's foot, but took off too much skin. She didn't notice until the technician poured a liquid on her which burned. The woman told my mom to just put her foot in the water. She insisted the skin on my mom's foot was "cracked". That's just what she kept saying. They also lied and said my mom's foot was already "cracked". My response was "if there is an open wound on someone's foot, why would you see that and decide to move forward with a full spa treatment. Mind you, this was the very top of the appointment. A salt scrub, mint oil, massage, etc. were all still to be done, which even a non professional knows you can't do with skin damage. Needless to say we will never go back there, and I warn anyone else considering to think twice. It was the lack of accountability and non apology and misdirected blame which was the icing on the cake for me. Now we have to wait until my mom's foot is fully healed and find a more professional place to try again for a mother/daughter spa day. read more

I want to preface this by saying that I am low maintenance and don't regularly get my nails done so I'm not very picky. With going out of town on business, my nails needed a little jazzing. For $32 for a shellac manicure and no one really in there, I thought it'd be nice and convenient to stop in. First- the place is dirty. The ottomans for the pedicure stations all have paint stains on them. I glanced at the waxing room while I was washing my hands, and the towels on the table were stained. The girl who did my nails spoke to me very little which is fine. She asked if I wanted round of square nails. I prefer square. They ended up like a U. They were so sharp and dangerous and kept catching so when I got home I filed them down. They were super uneven and my cuticles weren't pushed back or cleaned up. The other thing is that the lady left paint all of my skin. I told her before I left and instead of wiping it, she literally cut the skin off. I left really disappointed. The paint was already rising in the corner of where she cut off my skin. I won't be going back read more

I recently got a gel manicure at Avalon and after the technician finished my nails I noticed one of them looked very bad and was barely painted. She begrudgingly corrected it after I asked her to fix this (at $35 and is supposed to last for 14 days they should look good!). She fixed my nail and literally it was paper thin and hurting because she filed it SO poorly. Then that evening the gel on another finger peeled right off! I went back to Avalon 2 days later WITH my receipt asking for a refund. I was immediately met with resistance at the front desk and ultimately ended up with a gift card to come back which I will never use. In fact, my nail technician nicked me a few times when cutting my cuticles. When she applied the polish, it wasn't smooth and all over my cuticles. So i went into this dump w/an open mind. At first they were VERY nice to me when i called to set up and appointment. I get there the place smells like moist wet mildewy. I go and get a gel fill. The guy was very nice to me at first. I got my gel fill, i was not happy but they were extremely busy, it took longer then expected so i paid & left. Once i left i didn't realize how fucked up my nails were. The shapes were inconsistent there was air bubbles in the gel polish and he had filed the nails so hard my fingers were sore. So i called back the manager was very friendly & welcoming and told me to come back & they'd fix them. Their idea of fixing them was filing down even more on the side wall of my finger. They had the same guy fix it whole told me it was worse that i waited to say something. He was being so ignorant to me he had me in tears, he told me i made it bad for him bc i called to talk to the manager. And the. Continued to tell me that he was gonna have someone else fix it. "Told me oh my god they are just nails" he made me feel so u comfortable Bc he was pissed because someone didn't like what he did and he didn't see anything wrong with the fact the nails are different sizes, some are flat some are pointy. Please do yourself a favor they are overpriced for the work that they do. Go to any other salon in the area because they are awful.
