I'm an OG patient here, can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review. I've been coming for…read more30 years since back when Dr. Gee was originally my optometrist. I have a very specialized job where my eyesight is my lifeline. I've had countless frames, contact lenses, special FX lenses both standard size and sclera (prescription) always exactly what I need as my eyes changed over the years. When Dr. Gee recommended LASIK Surgery (which lasted 15 years) I still came for my regular check ups. Fast forward to today, I'm back wearing glasses and being cared for by the new Dr's now that Dr Gee is no longer with us. I'm so grateful that the team continues the same level of care and precision with their exams and all my crazy requests. Now my son, my husband and my siblings and parents come here. We love Avalon Optometry and will be coming here maybe even when I have grandkids!

Gee, I really don't know how to start without making this a…read morelong drawn out review but I'll try. I met doctor Chu and her sister Suzanne between twenty five and thirty years ago. I came by to do a business license inspection and to also make sure the property was safe for them and future clients. At the time of the inspection I was not in need of eye exams or eyewear so I was just happy to meet a couple of sisters that had a community vision of something that was needed in the area. Suzanne and Amy have always been patient, caring people who have shown a great interest and concern in all their clients. At some point clients become friends who are welcomed into the business. As for as the receptionist are concerned they have all been incredibly professional and welcoming in my opinion. They have a more then adequate selection of frames from Gucci, Dolce and Cabanna, Ray Bans, Carrera etc. By chance there is a frame that they don't have in their collection, give Suzanne the maker and model number and she'll locate it. I'm big on customer service and they absolutely deliver in every aspect of customer service. I'll always keep my loyalty to them and I hope that they remain in the Carson area delivering the same quality of service that they have been for the last couple of decades. This was actually my first time seeing an optometrist and Dr. Lee made the experience easy, relaxed and enjoyable. I couldn't wait to pick out my glasses. There's an entire wall of glasses to choose from and many different styles. I ended up going back to the same pair after checking out a few other options, Marc by Marc Jacobs frames. To top it off they had this woman, whom obviously was a style expert, give me all the details of what was going to be covered by my insurance and easily explained my costs. I was told they'd be ready in a week, even though the following week was Thanksgiving, they called me and told me glasses were ready exactly in 7 days. So I was ready to show off my new glasses to the family! Thanks once again to Dr. Kristen Lee and her office staff for providing me with great service and a great deal on these frames!

came here for a few years, this last time was complete BS. was misinformed & charged a bill that…read morewasn't mentioned prior to service or during previous appointment. previously id go, they'd say they accept medical to cover frames & test. they offered me both optical & contact exams without mentioning a price until the appointment was done. this was never an issue in previous appointments, & to top it off they're now saying I won't have my glasses ready until September & will probably still be charged for my frame. so they basically just improperly informed me about the services & prices until the end..& had no choice but to pay. sad part is, my prescription didn't even change much, according to the doctor & comparing my previous prescription...I could've just used that 110 for contact exam to order more contacts with practically the same prescription. prolly gonna stop coming here, the precious experience was so bs, the spot wasn't even open in time for my 9:30 appointment..just a huge mess

i am new to vsp and called to make an appointment for an exam for contact lens. the front desk…read morestaff were all really nice, over the phone and in person. they called prior to my appointment to give a friendly reminder. dr au and his staff were all very professional. my exam look about 30m dr au was pretty personable. recommended that i purchase pataday eye drops for my red eyes which are caused by allergies. the only thing is that i was not made aware of was the contact fitting fee, which is $60. when i called to make the appt, the gal provided my co pay amount and the allowance for contacts under my vision insurance. this is why i always opt out of vision insurance bc it costs less for me to pay out of pocket for contacts than to pay for vision insurance twice a month + copay + contact fitting fee + difference of what my insurance covers for contacts, which is about $100 more. so basically i am paying double this year. other than not disclosing the contact fitting fee..the visit was good. parking: plenty of parking.

They took my order and when I called back to ck no one answered the phone. I had to go back in person to ck on my order, they didn't even have a note in the computer with my prescription or that I had even came there previously and had asked specifically about two pairs of frames they stated they sold there. I had to start the process all over again! The optometrist (sorry forgot his name, older man, gray hair and beard) who came to help me Had had the friggn shakes!! he could not hold his hands still. He scribbled marker all over the sample glasses to make the markings to line up with my pupils for the glasses I was ordering and paying for. His writing was illegible. I didn't feel confident about the markings he made regarding my PD. I called on more than 3 occasions to ck on my glasses. No one answered the phone all three times. I left voicemails no call back. I emailed, no email or call back. I finally went up there only to find out my glasses were ready! No accountability. Antionette kept trying to defend herself "It wasn't me " OK well can you find out why or what happened? I asked to speak to a manager and or the owner. I was promised someone would call me. I NEVER received a call. After I picked up my glasses, Antionette didn't even ask if they fit well, or could I see out of them. She was ready for me to go. I called her back a few days later in the morning which she suggested if I wanted to speak to someone, to ask about my promised phone call. Once again, she got defensive as though there was nothing she could do. This was a terrible experience for spending over $500 dollars on glasses. Terrible customer service, no follow up. No accountability no professionalism No system of records regarding your medical information (i.e. prescription), BUYER BEWARE. I would not shop here. There are much more professional and better places. This Dr William K Shiomi should be ashamed to have his name assciaed with the place, Still never received a call from him or anyone else regarding my concerns.
