Always love my highlights with David, he's my hair magician! On my most recent visit 11-12-24 to my delight I discovered the salon had NEW shampoo bowls & chairs. I almost cried happy tears. As a shorter person, the usual shampoo bowls/chairs always hurt my neck and my back. These new bowls & chairs are AMAZING! It's the first time (EVER) that I could truly enjoy the shampoo process. Underwhelmed with the manicure. The lighting was so dark it was hard to see the colors and once I got outside I was able to see my nails are bumpy and the color is not what I wanted. The manicurists made me feel bad when I wanted a different color (they only painted one nail when I changed) and I still ended up with not the color I asked for. I even showed them a picture. I will not go back here for a manicure. Also, the solution they soak their nail clippers in was clear yet full of previous clients' cuticles and skin. So unsanitary. They rushed through it so the result was sloppy - they missed the sides of my nails and the shape is not consistent. I will have to re-do my manicure at home. read more

I have been going to Avalon for over a year. In that time the stylist was unable to give me the haircut I wanted. Each visit Caitlyn would go to "check her notes" and then proceed to cut my hair the way SHE thought it should be. And I can say that my hair style is not at all complicated! The last 2 cuts were by far the worst. The hair cut is uneven and there are clumps of hair missing. I was going to have some color work done but i felt if she couldn't get the cut right I didn't want to take any chances with her use of chemicals. read more

I would leave a zero if I could. Went today and had the worst pedicure experience in 40 years. left with blood under my toenail, in a lot of pain and was told by the manager this happens, it has never happens to me until I came here. signed up for an acupressure pedicure, I have had many and when she had no idea what she was doing she said these were not regular massage, since she had no idea what she was doing and looked at the handout the entire time. when I explained she needed more training to the manager, she has been licensed for 6 weeks, the managers response was she was she was very good. Obviously she was not and was new and needs additional training. the problem was not they can not keep staff, it was completely empty, was how arrogant the manager was. so she needs additional help, foolishness management is the problem in this organization. i have had many positive experiences here and not sure what changed, but Aveda needs to look at this place! I would have been happy to tell them directly but they only wanted a public review. read more

I've been a customer of Avalon salon for about a year after coming out of the pandemic and a desperate need for a good haircut, though my wife did a great job (just in case she's reading this review). Actually, she was fantastic and grateful that she didn't cut my ears off. I've been to several other salons and barbers in the area and always had to end with, "nice job" then found retreat in my many ball caps for few weeks. It's subtle, but for me, paying the extra is worth the outcome. Dave has been my goto stylist and never disappoints. In addition, my wife and I have signed up with the monthly membership massage service as well and we've been happy with our masseuse Karina. There's a saying about keeping a good relationship with your barber and auto mechanic so I think this is going to be a long-term relationship for me. I know haircuts are very personal, and experience varies, but having looked around Bend, I'm happy with my experience at Avalon. read more

Meg's hair cuts are awesome. Somehow she manages to cut my hair so it looks great even when I don't style it. Most recently ... Meg cut & styled my hair and suggested a new length and a couple changes ... then the evening I got it cut, I went out to eat I and sat by a fire and my hair got smoky ... and you know how you never want to wash your hair the day it is cut ... but my hair was smoky and driving me crazy, so I washed it right before going to sleep and then slept on it. And the next morning I got up and went to the coffee shop and immediately the barista complimented me on my hair cut - literally I'd washed it and slept on it. I can't imagine a bigger compliment for a stylist than to say that my hair looks great even when I don't style it. read more

I had scheduled a trim, hair color and eye brow wax. It turns out I didn't really need the trim but did a moisturizing treatment for my hair instead. My hair feels so soft and looks amazing! The stylists are very skilled and are able to troubleshoot any problems that you're having (like overly dry hair in the high desert). And the prices are reasonable for the services offered. Wendy cut my 14 year old's hair and it had a huge piece that was longer in the back and one side is short than the other. I asked 3 times to have it thinned out and it's like a mushroom on her head. Way expensive for a very below average cut. My other daughter's cut was okay, but not a cute trendy kid cut. More of a middle age business woman. I'm never one to leave dramatic reviews, but this was a huge bummer and cost more than any cuts my girls have ever had. Definitely won't be back. read more
