In the time that I've been going here, I have been seen by three different residents, all of whom have been great to work with and seemed genuinely concerned for my health. Communication of test results and billing via My UNC Chart is convenient and effective. The main downside that I can think of being a patient at this location is that you typically will only have the same doctor for a year or eighteen months before they move on.

Therefore: I went for my make-up FAA physical on Friday, and was treated (almost) like royalty! The staff was ready for me (although I had again shown up early). Everything was done smoothly and efficiently. I was also made to feel like a person, not some cog in a machine. The staff person behind the desk treated me almost like an old friend; the nurse was pleasant and professional, as was the lab technician. ...and Dr. Guiteras was able to make me laugh at the end of a long week! I was given a flu shot incorrectly and was in severe pain in ER and put on Prednisone. I was billed despite having no copays. The portal is confusing and doesn't always work. (I have not seen Nicole who I understand is great) but I have moved on to a new PCP at UNC.

We drive…read morealmost an hour and a half to see her and we've never felt like we were rushed out the door for a 15 minute appointment which is pretty typical in doctor's offices these days. In fact, it's really back to the old school way of family medicine. Where she listens to what sort of problems you may be having and then treats you with your comments in mind. That's what medicine is about. Reminds me of a line in the hippocratic oath: "...I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick." This practice does treat you like a sick human being. And you just can't go wrong with that these days when other institutions treat you like a cog in a manufacturing factory.

Therefore, I am not keen to praise doctors. However, PAMF has a wonderful, smart, caring family doctor that I am compelled to recommend. Her name is Doctor Maggie Williams. Dr Williams is smart, dedicated, experienced, and caring. I have had some major medical issues which Dr. Williams expertly diagnosed and has been helping me resolve. My daughter has a medical issue that her pediatrician and gynecologist misdiagnosed but Dr Williams was quick to diagnose correctly. Dr Williams is conservative and logical in her approach to treatment. She listens and asks intelligent questions. She will order tests when appropriate and will refer patients to specialists both in and outside of PAMF. She will take the time to answer your questions and concerns. She really cares. Like I said, I am very skeptical of the medical profession but if you are looking for an excellent family doctor, then check out Dr. Williams. I've been back since and had an experience that made me feel awful. The receptionist and nurse are both super caring and sweet, but Christa was not. Please go to someone who can at least pretend to be concerned about you.
