This company issues false diagnosis. bEWARE. Medical malpractice. The worst medical care I have ever been too. This was the one on Oberlin. do not go to this place. The doctor and I use that term loosely, sees you for 7 minutes exactly. Within that time they submit a 20 page document with several false diagnosis and the form looks like it is copied for every patient. They ask you nothing about your history. They refer you out to many different doctors in their network for more $$$$ it is a scam. read more

I am so pleased with the care that Dr. Nasir provides at Avance Care on Strickland Rd. in Raleigh. She is very knowledgeable and professional, and perhaps just as important, listens carefully to what you have to say. For the past few weeks I had been having severe nausea lasting several hours at a time as well as occasional sharp pains in my upper chest when I went to see her. She knew my neurologist has been treating me for migraines and also that I'm taking a generic over-the-counter pill that includes 250 mg. of aspirin which, if I'm having two headaches in one day, is 1000 mg. Although she is ordering an ultrasound to make sure it's not my gallbladder causing my health issues, she feels that the amount of aspirin I am taking (until the once-a-month shot my neurologist has just prescribed for me takes effect), is causing my extreme nausea and pain. She has prescribed Prilosec and as she said what she thought is causing my problem it immediately made sense to me. And her young assistant and office staff are just as attentive and helpful as Dr. Nasir. read more

Was looking for a DO (Osteopathic) doctor for an alternative view of health care. The front office staff were great and worked to fit me in last minute with Dr. Notaro due to a scheduling mishap on my part. The patient portal allows you to upload documents you want to share with the physician, however, it seems to only be allowed if you are either making an appointment or have an existing one. The lobby was smaller than you'd usually find at a physician's office but the wait was minimal. Dr. Notaro was very patient knowing it was my first time with a DO and not knowing what to expect. She gave me her background and listened to my concerns. I never felt like she was anxious to move to the next patient and felt comfortable talking with her. I can't speak for any other physician, but Dr Notaro and the front office staff were great and I would highly recommend them. read more

This past Sunday I came down with a severe case of what I believe to be the flu. I spent all day in bed and the following morning self tested for COVID and scheduled a tele-visit with my new doctor there. I again self tested that afternoon, and both were negative. I few hours before my scheduled visit, they hadn't confirmed, so I called their support, and was told they changed it to an in person visit, despite me not being able to go in person. I spect Mon & Tues in bed. I was never notified, and they cancelled rather than changing it back to tele-visit. They had no care for my health and safety, and I'm dropping them after 6 years of service. Their support staff really is sub-par in every way! Avoid them at all costs! This is the sleaziest company ever. I am the POA for my elderly mother. This past spring we received a bill from AvanceCare retroactively billing her for a non-medical service (annoying telemarketing calls under the guise of chronic care management that served to try to increase appts/revenue for their business) which they claimed were no longer free. My mother never signed up for these nor did she ever agree to pay. There was no opt-out option and the billing was retroactive. I called on 5/16/23 to dispute the charge and they refused to drop it, instead adding on late fees and sending it to a collection agency. I had warned some of my family members not to go there as they had try to stick me with an unauthorized charge before that I fought back on. This company engages in unethical billing practices and needs to be stopped. read more

If you want your doctor to tell you "I'm writing this script so that it allows you to take more than one if needed" just for them to turn around and tell you "well you shouldn't have taken that many" when you run out, this is the place for you. Want to be ignored? Definitely the place for you. Maybe they'll get back to you today, maybe tomorrow, maybe never... just terminated services with them for this very thing. Doctor literally told me "the script allows you to take more than one if needed" then I'm told today "no you can't fill it, you took to many" and is now claiming she never said that even though I have the first bottle that clearly says that, they never said that. I had been sick for several weeks and knew it wasn't Covid because I had taken 2 tests but finally decided I had to be seen by a dr. Couldn't get in fast enough to see my Primary so a neighbor suggested this place off Strickland & Ray road next to the Food Lion. They were very helpful & fast. I give them 4 stars only because I was taken aback at first after being told that I had to wait outside in the 40 degree weather since I was a sick patient. I told them as soon as I walked in that I was a new patient and at that moment they should have explained how it works with seeing sick patients. They have a spot where you drive behind building and wait in your car for a dr to come out and see you. They should definitely tell you this upfront since I had no idea. Other than that, this place is a great in between if you can't see your dr & need immediate help. They also provide Covid tests. I thank them for figuring out that I had a sinus infection & needed antibiotics to get well. read more

The physicians here are competent, but the appointments are not kept in a timely fashion, and the front office staff is extremely inept and rude. Waits in the reception area are typically 10-15 minutes past appointment time, and I typically wait another 10-15 in the exam room before the provider shuffles in. If you enjoy the DMV, this is the doctor's office for you! read more

This place is awful. I'm guessing management is nonexistent. The only reason I go is because of its location. I need to take the time to find another place. The provider recommended I have a sleep study done. First they said they referred me but they didn't. They they did refer me but they referred me to a place that doesn't do sleep studies. Then they said they referred me to the correct place but that place said I wasn't referred so I was suppose to call avance and tell them to refer me. They finally did. I had the sleep study done. I didn't hear anything in 2 weeks so I called as I was told to do if I haven't heard. Avance said they didn't receive anything. Told me to call the sleep study place to have them fax again. Still haven't received any info. They say it may take days to receive a fax. read more

I really hate going to the doctor. In fact, it is my second least favorite place, only to the dentist. That being said, I am more likely to actually come to this doctor since I like them. I've been seen here for minor injuries from a pulled muscle to the common cold. I've sought out nutrition advice and had basic health screenings. I've never had to wait more than a few moments past my appointment time and the doctors are always prompt and professional. My favorite is a PA named Allison Gapinski. I appreciate the fact that most of their paperwork is online and there are not a ton of paper forms to fill out. They have computers hooked up specifically for doing paperwork. Some nice touches they have are snacks including granola bars, a children's play corner, TV, and bathroom amenities. The only reason for 4 stars is that since it is a family doctor, I feel like I am exposed to more germs from the little kids who also frequent here but I don't know that for certain. I am basing this off of coming in for a routine check up and ending up with a cold a week later but who's to say. read more

FYI if you are out of network, your COVID test will be charged $175 for an "office visit" aka a five minute video call with a doctor who only listens to you list out your symptoms. My COVID test was covered at another PCP that was out of network so no idea why this provider charges... Also, COVID test experience was terrible. PSA: If you're LGBT+ id recommend finding another facility to get your labs/testing done !!!!!! Doctors/staff were very friendly but the calls I received from their call staff were frankly unacceptable. They gave me DIRECT misinformation about the status of my health, I repeat they gave me false information, that of which I only understood after educating myself through the Wake Health Department. The misinformed diagnosis of my health I received caused a great deal of problems in my personal life and very much could have been avoided if I went somewhere professional! Save yourself the hassle, and emotional turmoil and pick somewhere that cares enough about your well being, so they might actually have helpful assistants that can ACCURATELY describe to you your current state of health. Last but not least, most LGBT+ people should receive swabs (oral/etc) for conclusive results, and not simply a urine test. Basic common sense. The people here were amazingly nice, but I dont know what else I can say about a health establishment that misdiagnoses you and doesnt provide you with adequate care. read more

I've already recommended this doctor's office to my friends, so I figured I should finally write a yelp review. I now call Avance Primary Care on Strickland Rd my primary physician's office. I highly recommend Dr. Alexander; he is patient, friendly, empathetic, and respectful. During each scheduled visit, he attentively listens to my concerns which makes me feel comfortable, especially when discussing mental and behavioral health issues; these topics can be really difficult to openly discuss with someone without feeling a strong sense of judgement or a dismissal of my concerns. In addition to excellent physicians, Avance Primary Care is convenient, affordable, and efficient. Their patient portal is a godsend! When it is convenient for me, I can request appointments and prescription refills, review my test results, manage and edit my account (personal history, forms, etc), review my billing statements, and send/receive secured messages to/from Avance Care. If I have other questions, I can live chat online (via their website) rather than call or visit. Don't expect hidden fees or charges on a later bill, either! In the lobby and online, a fee schedule for all services is provided BEFORE you see your doctor. And, I no longer have to visit several doctors for all of my health needs, which saves time and money. I see Dr. Alexander for annual check-ups and preventative care, mental/behavioral health, and woman's health (such as birth control, pap smears, and STD testing). I am always pleased with my experience at Avance Primary Care on Strickland Rd. Even when a late fee was mistakenly placed on a recent bill (due to my insurance's negligence), Avance Primary Care was friendly and immediately refunded the late fee amount... NO HASSLES. I hear good things about their Mooresville location, too! read more

I've been going to Avance Care for at least 8 years and cannot recommend them highly enough. Open 7 days a week and not at urgent care prices, very attentive and caring staff from front desk to nurses to doctors. They keep some slots open for walk ins, which has been extremely helpful with unexpected injuries and sicknesses. Dr. Thomas Thompson has been my physician for at least 3 years. He's extremely professional and caring, always ready to answer the silliest of questions and to ensure my wellbeing. Their waiting time can be a bit long though, I've never spent less than 20 minutes in the lounge. Other than that, the best practice. read more

Everyone's friendly, and the doctors and NPs have always given accurate diagnoses and answered all my questions while making me feel comfortable. Waited for nearly an hour for the PA to come in the room. After telling the PA what I needed (I was getting a visa and needed a certificate of good health), the PA began asking condescending questions about my previous travels. He was also quite patronizing. He then said he wasn't an MD so couldn't sign the certificate. Granted, I was told on the phone that I could get the certificate the same day. I put up with it because I had already paid $150 and needed the certificate as soon as possible for my visa appointment. On the "up side" reception was quite nice. read more

Doctors and medical related aspects are good. However, be very careful when trusting Avance Care at any location with billing information and processing. A mix up with insurance/billing occassionally happens due to the complex nature of insurance, but when the mix up results in a $7000+ balance due to neglect on insurance submission... That's a huge red flag. Especially when it has restricted me from scheduling any appointments. I have spent almost 5 months trying to get this issue fixed. In January I was told that all claims affected were being resubmitted for processing and they could take 3 to 4 weeks to process and was offered a work around (that sketchy offer is another story) that would allow me to see my doctor. Here we are in April and I'm still being denied medical care over this, with billing refusing to give any answers or insight. Finding a quality doctor is a nightmare in todays culture, but at this point I am having to start searching somewhere new so that I can continue receiving critical medications and medical care. read more

Been going here since it first opened, but this office has been on a rapid decline in the past couple years. I stayed mostly for their amazing medical assistant staff, however, I have been recently been neglected by my primary doctor there. Last visit was my physical and she didn't do anything to check if there was anything wrong besides the basic blood pressure and temperature. I've never been so disappointed by someone who's supposed to look after your health. On top of that, I recently came home from a trip and in hopes of reducing the risk of spread as i'm an essential worker I hoped my primary would understand and also want to reduce spread, but instead denied me of "no known exposure" and I found this extremely wrong/unsafe of a doctor. Extremely disappointed at what it's become and transferring my files to my new primary ASAP. read more

Wow! My new patient appointment took less than 10 minutes from the time I checked in to the time I left. And that included several minutes waiting in the lobby to be called back! The doctor was so hurried, talked a mile a minute, gave me no opportunity to ask questions or express my concerns, such as why I came in in the first place. My physical exam consisted of heart and lung sounds - nothing more. I would love to see my chart to see what was documented by the doctor - of course all I received was a print out of my credit card payment and sent on my way. What a disappointment. If you don't have time or don't want to take new patients, or don't feel like providing quality care, then refer new patients to others please!! read more

I was quite disappointed with my first appointment at this practice, and shocked beyond belief when I received copies of the documents that I had requested. These two stars go directly to "David," who contacted me after my appointment regarding my satisfaction with my visit. Of all the employees with whom I've had contact during my visit, "David" was the only one who came across as sincere, willing to help, and followed up appropriately. I was hoping to speak with "David" again after receiving the aforementioned documents, however, I was cut off by a woman identifying herself as the office manager, who informed me that she "would update David of the situation" herself. Avoid at all cost. This clinic is all about money and none about care. They have very usual practices concerning prescriptions. They want to see you every month (for the $) they require 5 days notice to pick up prescriptions and won't write them early. They expect you to use the exact same pharmacy every time. This is a hassle. The Ramble Way office/front desk is just rude. You have about 2 minutes on the phone before they tell you you are taking too long, and hang up. The NP there is just fake and cares nothing about her patients or the level of care they receive. She says she's "sorry" a lot. It's all about quick in and out, cattle call medicine. I bet you can get quick appointments because people don't return. We will be looking for another practice ASAP. read more

Being an archetypal macho guy who sees the doctor only when exceptionally necessary, well this was one of those times. A bothersome long term condition finally compelled me to go although I had no primary care physician; I literally choose Avance because they are in my insurance network and close to my home. Otherwise I could only hope for the best. Well in short I thought the staff was pretty awesome and attentive. Dr. Alexander was genuinely concerned and I had his full attention, he took his time to sort out my problem and applied the correct measures. There was no excessive wait, one of the front desk staff cracked a joke about men not paying attention to her when I asked a question about signing in, which I found actually pretty funny. I went to Advance care and the service was sub-par to say the least. It seem you make appointments to make another appointment. While there to get a yearly check up i was told I needed labs which they do in house. But I had to set another appointment & give another copay even though the lab tech was standing at the nurse station talking. This was my first & second visit. 2 month after being a patient there i was told i had a balance of $194.24 remaining from my first visit because i had not reach my max out of pocket. But on the wall for non-insured patients its $125.00 total for that visit. So why is it $394.24 for me with Cigna? Later that Same month my husband that when for the same yearly check up but did not need labs was slap with the same bill but we did not get the same services. read more

I ask the on the phone if i owe them anything for the shot the answer for the last 5 monthes has been no your fine. I even ask when i come in and ehen i leave again the answer is no. I was there to see Dr. O'Dell as a new patient. My past medical history is long and complicated, but she was very pleasant, attentive and took her time listening to me. She was thorough during her examination . I had blood work done and the nurse was very pleasant as well. Over all my experience was quite satisfied. My only concern is that I was given 3 Rx's during my visit Wed. Of this week and my pharmacy has questions in order to fulfill them and Dr. O'Dell ' s office has not responded. I hope that's taken care of soon. Besides that I'm happy with the Dr's and staff. read more
