Very poor experience in 2023. The office staff was very unprofessional, I recall them getting a spam call on their personal cell phone, and rather than help me, they decided to prod the spam caller (giving them fake name, fake credit card info, etc, for a laugh). The doctor I saw was very pushy for allergy testing as others have stated. He didn't even mention I had a deviated septum, something I just now realized after looking back at my records in their online portal. I reluctantly reached out via their messaging service in the portal asking for a follow up on the deviated septum to find my options, and noted that I wasn't interested in the allergy testing....over 48 hours now and no response. Worst healthcare experience in 54 years. This was, without question, the most unprofessional and incompetent medical visit I've ever had. The front desk staff looked like they were dressed for a night out clubbing rather than working in healthcare. Review for Dr. R. Daniel Peters, MD - UNC Health ENT I've visited this location before and never had issues, but my recent experience with Dr. Peters was extremely disappointing and concerning. I came with my brother to his appointment because I've dealt with nasal issues myself for over four years, and he wanted my help in asking questions and understanding his options. Dr. Peters recommended surgery without ordering any updated imaging -- no CT scan, no X-ray, just a visual inspection. Even more alarming, he admitted that the surgery would more than likely not work, and that a second rhinoplasty would probably be needed later. Despite that, the surgery he was suggesting didn't even address all of my brother's actual symptoms or concerns. We asked very reasonable questions like, "Why no imaging before surgery?" and "If this procedure will likely fail, why not just go directly to the rhinoplasty?" My father also voiced concerns and pointed out that the proposed correction wouldn't even address my brother's most pressing issues. Instead of engaging in a helpful or informative conversation, Dr. Peters became visibly irritated -- as if we were wrong for simply wanting to understand what was being recommended. It felt like he expected us to just stay quiet and accept everything he said without question. That kind of arrogant, dismissive attitude has no place in medicine -- especially when dealing with something as serious as surgery. Eventually, Dr. Peters abruptly walked out of the room without explanation after asking if I was an "ENT". Later, he even called my brother directly and told him he could return "without the external factors," clearly referring to me -- just for being present and asking questions. No one should ever feel punished or disrespected for trying to understand a medical plan that impacts their health or the health of a loved one. A doctor who refuses imaging, openly admits a surgery will likely fail, and can't take two minutes to explain his logic should not be the one making those decisions. read more

This place is very big! It felt like a maze inside with all the various wings/units they have set up. Check in was easy (do your paperwork ahead of time), and miraculously I only had to wait five minutes in the lobby. The woman who took me back was very nice. I appreciated that she noted my nickname on my chart since they only had my legal name. I wish I could remember the doctor's name who I saw. He was an older gentleman, but he was polite and thorough. I got sent back for a hearing test and that lady was super friendly and easy to talk with. I really didn't have to wait long in any of the rooms I was in, which is unusual these days. The doctor came back in, confirmed the diagnosis I had guessed, and wrote down the next steps he recommended. Overall, I was pleased with my visit. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. McMahon. First, the front desk staff weren't friendly at all. Secondly, the doctor has the personality of a wall. Last and not least. He prescribed a medication that had Penicillin. I told him I was allergic to Penicillin and it was in my file. I was like wow!! Are they any doctors that actually care about their patients. One positive thing happened. When I checked out there was the nicest person that helped me. It was an African American lady with glasses. She must have been anchored by the Lord. My son is terrified of being in a doctors office after the last horrible experiences we have had. I sent in an appointment request via email and Angel called me one hour later!! She was so kind and patient with me. She listened to all of my concerns and was able to get me in the very next day!! She spoke so highly of the company, assured me that they would do all they could to help us. Once I arrived Angel and the front desk staff all greeted me with big smiles. Came in to have my hearing checked (what?) after years of badgering from my bride and daughter that I should call 1-800-MiracleEar. Diagnosis was borderline for hearing aids. The discussions made sense about how I have gradually lost my hearing over the years based on poor decisions during my youth related to not protecting my hearing. This was generally a very good appointment. The only concern I have was a miscommunication when I thought I was supposed to stay and wait to see the audiologist. I was actually supposed to go back to the front desk and get another appointment to come back in to see the audiologist. That wasn't clear, so I waited in the exam room for about 15 minutes and finally popped my head out to get someone's attention to ask if I was still supposed to be waiting. While North Carolina is a bee-yootiful state, ever since I've been living here I've been tortured by allergies and sinusitis due to the prolific pollen and trees out here. Capitol ENT to the rescue! I got referred over here by my primary physician and the overall experience with Capitol ENT has been really solid from beginning to end. Working with Dr. Steven Dennis and his nurse Heather has been a fantastic experience. I've found him to be both extremely competent AND caring, a great bedside manner if that's important to you. Inside you'll find Capitol ENT's lobby to be really spacious and well-decorated. Yeah, somebody's definitely making some money here but there are two things you should never skimp on: medical care and car tires. So to me the lavish lobby just says they must be doing a good job here. The front desk gals have always been very prompt about taking and returning phone calls, paperwork has also been relatively simple here. The nurses all seem to be pretty experienced and personable, examination rooms are clean and well-equipped. Now I know that your experience and mileage may vary, certainly from doctor to doctor but I can not complain at all about my medical care with Capitol ENT over the last three months. They may not be cheap but you get what you pay for and that's why you have insurance. So if you need any maintenance done on your shnozz, ears or throat, check em out especially if they're in your network. I was referred to Raleigh Capitol ENT by my primary physician for an ear infection with hearing loss. I left information on their online appointment site and did not receive a call back. I then left a message on their appointment line in the Raleigh and Cary office. I did not receive a call back from either office. I contacted my primary physician and was referred to Wake ENT in Cary and obtained an appointment in a few days. DO NOT call this office if you have a painful problem. Dr Laura Brown is a terrible mean spirited doctor. I made the appointment to get some relief from sinus pain. Dr Brown identified my sinus inflammation, but said that MAYBE she will help me with a prescription next time I come. Dr Brown spent the visit focused on convincing me to get tested for allergies again, claiming that previous tests are out of date. I felt like I was talking to a sales lady trying to drum up new allergy treatment business. I will never go there again. She was mocking my pain! read more

We moved to Raleigh in 2004. Shortly after arriving my wife need some surgery, and that's when I first met Dr. Stephen Dennis, in the waiting room. He was extremely professional, and took all the time necessary to walk me through how her surgery went, and what to expect with recovery. Shortly after that awesome first experience I visited his office to restart allergy shots. Prior to that I had done shots for ten years in California, and for 15 years in NY before that, so they were not new. The "new" twist was that after I'd ramped up I could take my vials home and do the next nine shots from them on my own schedule provided I adhered to some basic rules. This has been the process for over a dozen years, and as I'm a road warrior these days with very few weekdays in NC this has worked out extremely well. Monday I was informed that all the suppliers for one component antigen in my vials had changed their process which required I re-ramp up, six consecutive office visits! Needless to say I was stressed as I'll be home three business days over the next month so quickly ramping, 2X week over three weeks wasn't an option. Dr. Dennis suggested rather than fast ramp we slow roll the ramp to fit my schedule. Problem solved, I'm back on track, another delighted patient! read more

Does it not make sense that if your presenting complaint is Sore Throat that an ENT practice would check your temp ? And if you are complaining of throat pain deep in one's Throat that the doctor would use either a scope or the old reflector mirror to see down inside your Throat rather than just doing a perfunctory exam of your mouth and upper Throat ? I will say that my prior experience with Dr. Brown has been Five Star in quality of exam and care . She is just excellent. And this a practice that will try its best to get you in if you suddenly have a problem. They are also impressive for working till 5 on Fridays . So many practices are closing early on Friday now . They have multiple locations so this review is not limited to one site.. These are true positives . However ---It is a two star review because I have had more unimpressive experiences with the other docs than positive. Frustrated read more

I've taken my kids to the one in Garner but my daughter having pain I went to this one . Dr Clarkson was rude and nasty. my child has had pain in her ear since thanksgiving. brought her cause the pain has keeping her up . I ask him over and over Wht can we do to help with the pressure he told me nothing he can do since he can't see anything. but yet a 10 yr waking up out her sleep with pain. So he says yea she just be in pain. Then going send his assistant to talk to me about my child in lobby which that's NOT OK. I've never been treated so bad . I will always speak up for my child t she. A do her self. Like I told him I will keep taking her to a doctor be seen untill we figure out Wht it is. I went here once and was told I didn't need to get an ear cleaning because my ears were already clean and got a bill for $150+ I spoke to a lady on the phone today and she said yeah it is a scam but you will have to sue us if you don't pay because we are going to send the bill to collections. When you ask if their practice is "IN NETWORK" with your insurance company, be sure to get a clear answer about the doctor/audiologist that you will be seeing. Unfortunately, I was told that they were "in network" & proceeded to trust them with my care. I realized after insurance was filed that the audiologist was NOT in network. My records repeatedly had so many mistakes that I can't trust any of them so could no longer go to this practice. I specifically scheduled for ear cleaning at Cary location. No issues, just wanted to get ear cleaning. I wanted to get water irrigation cleaning done. They informed me that they're able to do it. So I went in for an appointment. Mind that I've never had my ears cleaned before. Doc seen my ears, each ear for about 30 seconds. Tells me my ears are pretty clean so they won't do cleaning. Never even attempted to do little cleaning or anything. I'm doing self pay and I got charged $120 just to see the doc for literally 3 min. To tell me that they won't do ear cleaning. I literally drove there to walk in and pay them $120. I got nothing done! I walked in and out within 4-5min. They should be ashamed! This feels exactly like getting SCAMMED! Why offer a service and schedule customers if you don't really offer the service?! I came to specifically get ear cleaning which they informed me over the phone that they did offer as a service. We were referred to Dr. Graven for my 3-year-old son's nut allergy and asthma care. We have been seen twice and I cannot say enough about how knowledgeable and thoughtful Dr. Graven is in her approach towards treating my son. She truly takes the time to answer my questions (I go prepared with a notepad and pen!) and almost equally as important, I feel like we can have an honest dialogue as we develop a treatment plan together that works best for my son. Allergies for any person is scary, and seeing my son have a severe reaction to cashews literally broke me, but I can honestly say, Dr. Graven has given me the reassurance that we can help my son navigate these aversions. She is also very helpful with suggesting cost-effective products. The front desk receptionists have also been incredibly friendly as well as the medical team working closely with Dr. Graven. There's also a fish aquarium in the office for those of us needing a source of entertainment for young children! read more

First off let me say that Dr. Wilkins is amazing. He performed my tonsillectomy and I'm sooooo happy not to have to deal with the constant colds and stones. The doc himself gets 5 stars!!!!!!! However. The staff leaves a lot to be desired. The office isn't that big but I can't help but wonder if these people communicate with each other. I would literally get 2-3 calls in the same day from different ppl asking/telling me the same thing. This doesn't include the automated system calling and providing outdated information. Lol. I came in complaining of difficulty breathing when sleeping. Explained that when my throat is relaxed I wheeze because of an overly large uvula. It also touches the back of my throat triggering me to clear like post nasal drip. The doctor was 30 minutes late, then talked to me for less than 15 minutes. Did not feel the need to scope my throat or look at the physiology when relaxed/wheezing/problematic. He had no recommendation, no useful information. Said he could cut off my uvula "if [I] want", I asked if that was really needed, he shrugged. Charged 200 dollars. read more

The only reason I went there was I got a referral from the NCSU Student Health Center. After a long late, I met Dr. Jeevan Ramakrishnan. During my 5 minute appointment, he was unable to diagnose, while was using his phone all the time (probably to look up my problem)! He only suggested I can use a magic mouthwash or simple home remedies such as milk and yogurt, without taking the time to do a more thorough assessment! Then I got charged $343.55! By the way, before the appointment I asked the staff how much it would cost, but no one informed me about the cost of such a service! Definitely waste time and money! re: Wake Forest Office They are definately NOT spending money on their office at this location. The lobby is poor -- couches ripped, worn and out of date. But even worse is the exam room. The exam chair is a throwback from the 70's -- faded vinyl, no arms, problematic tilt-back, etc. As my elderly mother was being tilted around, she practically fell off the chair -- she kept sliding lower and lower! This does NOT make for a pleasant experience at the doctor when you are the one in the chair, or when you are the person watching it happen. The staff was great.
