Inferior Italian food...like Cici's pizza was good.. soup was like it was boiled, it was soooo hot!! The place is very outdated...needs a good scrubbing!! Server was not into it. She would disappear quite often. I would not go out of my way to come back here.....

Gondola's are the best. Very inexpensive. We have friends from Georgia that have to have this when they come visit.

Like only 20 tables or so. The couple next to us was on a date and I felt like I could follow their whole conversation from the moment we sat down. Our waiter came by to introduce himself, but didn't take our drink orders. When he came back, he jumped right in to our meal orders. All of our meals came with salads and he never asked us about dressing options, so I assumed all salads came with a house dressing. But my dad's girlfriend asked for blue cheese...I mistook her request for dressing and just put blue cheese crumbles on top of her plain salad...no dressing. We did ask him about drinks as he was leaving with the menus. While waiting, we overheard the table behind us ordering their salads and their waiter gave them a whole list of dressing options. Once we got our salads, we dug in but the vinaigrette was so strong, I couldn't eat it without grimacing. I ordered the chicken piccata. It was drowning in capers. That is all I could taste. It was so briny and salty that I could barely eat half of the portion they gave me. The chicken was also a little tough to cut through. I would be willing to try again. I never leave one experience to take over my whole perception.

Ambiance = to any other restaurant in the country…read more Service = to the finest restaurants in the US. Food = to anything worldwide. The owner/chef came out to introduce himself since he was informed that my wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. This was our first time ever at the restaurant and I am disappointed that while living in Peoria, IL for 50 years I never had been there before. Now it's the only place I will go out to dinner at when I am in Peoria. The address is actually listed as 3218 N. Dries Lane in Peoria, IL and is across from the old Landmark Theatre on Dries Ln. You can actually locate it off of University St. also.

Our servers were slow to the table. Introduced themselves saying the gent would be the main server and the lady would be helping. SHE did all the work. Never saw him again. We could hardly hear each other talk. We were practically yelling. Dinks finally arrived. Later I ordered another glass of wine which never arrived. When I asked about it, I was told we were lucky to get the first round due to how busy they were. I was shocked at the response. The food was unusually average. Two of the dishes contained lobster. One was overcooked, the other lacked flavor. Yes, there were large parties in the house that night, but that is their business to manage NOT an excuse. If they want to cater solely to large groups, then DON'T take my reservation. There is growing competition for places to go for a nice night out, I'll be sure this place is lower on my list going forward. I felt very disrespected. Not a feeling I've ever gotten from this place.

The steak was excellent, the lobster ceviche was creative and delicious, the carpaccio was beautifully prepared, and the scallops were truly extraordinary. The bread pudding dessert was the perfect finish to an already remarkable meal. A special shout-out to the manager, Mike, who was incredibly gracious and welcoming, and to our waiter, Adrian, who was absolutely wonderful. Adrian was attentive, charming, knowledgeable, and a great conversationalist. He made us feel genuinely special and was a big part of what made the evening so memorable. I lived in Los Angeles for more than 40 years and have been fortunate enough to dine at many highly regarded restaurants in the U.S. and around the world. Saffron Social deserves to be noticed in that company. This was not simply a very good meal for Central Illinois, it was an exceptional dining experience by any standard. Most importantly, my wife had a wonderful birthday, and we talked about the meal the entire drive home. Julie and I visited Bernardi's in Washington on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to meet up with a group…read moreof friends. There were eight of us at the table. When we arrived, the other six people in our group were already there, having drinks and sharing bread from the basket provided at the table. We ordered our meals, and when our food arrived, I asked for some additional bread to go with my meal. I was told, rather abruptly, that there was only one basket of bread per table. What I found particularly frustrating was that there were other tables with only two people sitting at them, and they had a full basket of bread. Meanwhile, our table of eight was expected to share one basket. I even offered to pay for additional bread, but I was simply told no, and I never received any additional bread. The policy itself was disappointing, but what really bothered me was the way the situation was handled. The waitress was extremely abrasive and difficult to understand, and there was no attempt to explain the policy or offer any alternative. A simple explanation such as, "I'm sorry, we have a new policy, but you can purchase additional bread if you'd like," would have been completely different. We have traditionally enjoyed Bernardi's and have gone there about once a week, either dining in or getting carryout. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning. Restaurants have plenty of competition, and when you're spending your hard-earned money somewhere, you should be treated with courtesy and respect. I understand that restaurants can change their policies, even policies I may not agree with. What I don't understand or accept is being treated rudely when simply asking for something as basic as a piece of bread with my meal. It wasn't the bread that ultimately made me decide not to return. It was the way I was treated.
