Really good Thai food. Three days into our trip my husband caught the flu while visiting his parents in Muna. Going out to eat was out of the question and he needed good hot healing soup. Lovely Thai restaurant located in the Downtown area. I ordered the red curry with coconut milk, bamboo shoot, red bell peppers, portabello mushrooms, onions and shrimp. It came with jasmine rice and some pickled cucumber. The red curry was tasty! If you like semi spicy food I recommend the red curry! Facilities is clean, staff was friendly with a great cozy ambiance. You can't go wrong if your looking for a nice place to eat. read more

This Thai place is super close to the house we are renting in Mérida and thus we would go there sometimes when we don't feel like walking too much. There is a lot of walking here. The menu is a little limited. There are three kinds of soup with the options of chicken or shrimp. I normally will go for chicken because seafood in Mérida is a sad story. Then they have a few salad and satay chicken or pork. You cons combine the two together. For entrees there are four kinds of curry, beef, yellow, green, red. I like the satay chicken, Tom yum soup, Tom kha soup and the curry dishes are all fine. The portion runs small in general in Mérida and this place is no exception. They make their rice really well. Overall the food is good enough for the city, since Mérida really sucks with food. If you are around and feel like a break from all the local food, this is not a bad alternative. read more

Hi Marcel, Actually, the chef came out a bit earlier in the meal when I was enjoying the excellent papaya salad. When my partner shared his curry and rice with me, it didn't seem worth it to go and find the chef to say anything. We were looking for something different to eat and found this Thai restaurant. The Swiss-Mexican husband and wife team really make an effort to make you sure you that you are enjoying the food. We thoroughly enjoyed a shrimp salad, chicken skewers, and a very tasty yellow curry. Recommended! read more

What's not to love about this place? The waitress was lovely and fluently spoke English, the food is delicious and something different for the area. They are very vegetarian friendly, many dishes are offered with a variety of proteins including tofu! All their juices are made fresh when you order them. We had two tofu curry dishes and jugo de paraíso. The space is nicely decorated and exceptionally clean. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

My friend and I had a wonderful meal at Ave del Paraiso. We had the Tom Yam Gung (shrimp soup) and the Tom Kha Gung (shrimp soup with coconut cream). They were excellent. For the main course we had the papaya salad (som tam) and the massaman curry with tofu. These are vegetarian dishes. Both tasted very good. We will certainly return to this place. The restaurant looks very good. The owner and her husband are really nice. You feel very welcome. read more

After a day trip, I was feeing pretty nauseous and had a massive headache. I needed something in my stomach before taking some medicine. I couldn't eat much, but I had the Tom yum soup. It was good! Everything is fresh and the food is divine, if you have a sensitive palate you'll love the wonderful flavors that come from this kitchen, you can tell the cooking is not rushed, although I've never waited very long for a meal. I like spicy Thai curry, so dropped by. The red curry was slightly red, but was watery and nearly tasteless, even though I had asked for "picante". $40 pesos extra got me a few overcooked shrimp, still wearing most of their shells. Not worth the overhead or mess to fish out and peel them when the flavor was absent. I ate a few mouthfuls and asked for the check. I explained that this was not what I considered curry. I was offered no apology or compensation. The owners are Swiss and French I believe. Neat and clean but with no apparent connection to Thailand beyond the decorations. read more

The best Thai food in Merida. My favorite is the green curry with just the right amount of heat and spice, along with the refreshing black tea. Located right in Centro on a beautiful tree-lined avenue. A nice change from the usual restaurant fare around here. Looking forward to returning and trying the red curry next. read more

Tasty food, excellent service and nice atmosphere and decoration. Prices are really fair (around 100 Mexican Pesos for mains, around 50 Mexican Pesos for soups and salads and around 30 Mexican Pesos for drinks). The waitress was very nice and attentive. read more

For starters, the service was great- pleasant and amiable. I ordered the yellow curry with shrimp- I would again- as well as extra cucumber salad (I couldn't get enough!). The quality and care that Marcel takes in preparing his food is fabulous. His wife AlmaRosa takes care of the front waiting tables as Marcel cooks. The atmosphere is charming and a perfect respite for lunch off the street or an warm atmosphere for dinner or and a date. The restaurant is immaculate, and tasteful charming ambiance. If you go during the afternoon and there is time Marcel who is Swiss is available to discuss his style of cooking, his attention to detail and the quality of cooking. The menu is limited to those used to other Thai restaurants particularly if you are from the states. Basically the reason is the local crowd does not appreciate the full range of Thai dishes, so Marcel focuses on the basic fair and does what he does well.
