We had a very positive service experience in the shoe department. The sales associate was helpful and patient, grabbing us a few similar boot options to try, beyond what we asked for. She didn't mind that we put the boots we loved on hold and came back to purchase them before leaving the mall. We made sure that she got credit for the sale. We had a great experience in the mens' denim department as well - the employees were really helpful in explaining the styles and sizing of the various brands. We also purchased a bag in the contemporary section - the sales associate there was actually pushy and salesy, not someone I'd normally want to work with or support, but we needed the gift so made the interaction short and moved on. Overall we enjoyed our shopping experience at Nordstrom, and we'll definitely return when we're in the area. If you don't live near a Nordstrom, they offer free shipping and free returns. And their customer service across stores is almost always top notch.

She recommended a very random brand without understanding my specific needs. When I asked questions she googled for answers. Yikes!!! You don't even know the products or what you're dealing with. So clearly there is no proper training to guide or sell to a savvy customer ready to spend significant money. Needless to say, I purchased a familiar brand and it will be the last few hundred dollars they'll ever see from me. Their service is a complete failure, the store smelled worse than a public restroom in the hot summer, and zero knowledge demonstrated by the staff. It would have made more sense to hand them out to people on line and save the dramatics of allowing 5 people in the store at a time and 4 security guards in front the store. Secondly this stunt was definitely not a way to promote mac products bc the average make-up wearer does not wear lime green and turqoise on their mouth. Lastly a quantity for the giveaway should be specified for example "free lime green lipstck to the 1st 200!"

I feel so bad I forgot the first girls name, but she was so sweet and although was busy with other people, she talked to me and explained to me that it'll be a while and after 7 minutes or so, offered me a seat so I was comfortable. Then, in front of me mentioned to Karen that I've been patiently waiting for a while and asked if she could help me. Karen talked to me to see what I wanted and told me she'd be with me right after she finished the girl she was working on. Which was maybe another 7 minutes. Totally I probably waited 20-25 minutes, maybe more but it went by quick & they were so nice I couldn't complain. Now I'm with Karen and she was amazing. She listened to what I wanted and brought exactly that to me. I told her I was a beginner and she understood that. It was amazing how she gave me exactly what I needed and it blended with my complexion perfectly. I couldn't be happier. So thank you Karen and thank you MAC. I'm officially obsessed and will definitely take the drive to come here. Side bar: Because I did come from a MAC counter in Menlo and was disappointed so decided to drive 30 minutes to Short Hills and was satisfied. These MAC girls definitely know their stuff.
