Disappointing Experience at Aveda Institute Phoenix: Poor Service and Incompetence I recently visited Aveda Institute in Phoenix for hair coloring and a cut, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. From start to finish, the service was subpar and the results were far from satisfactory. Firstly, the educator assigned to oversee my appointment was rude, impatient, and flippant. Their lack of professionalism set a negative tone for the entire experience. The student working on my hair was completely incompetent, struggling even with basic tasks like parting my hair. Despite three attempts to redo the color, the end result was a drastic departure from what I had requested, with no consideration for the pictures I provided or any viable options offered to achieve the desired outcome. Additionally, the student's inability to perform a proper haircut was evident, highlighting a lack of fundamental skills necessary for someone about to graduate and transition to working in a salon. Multiple consultations were necessary, further indicating the lack of expertise and confidence among the staff. The final result left me with blotchy hair and a noticeable demarcation line, despite specific requests to avoid such issues. The attempted root smudges only exacerbated the problem, resulting in a color completely different from what I had originally wanted. Throughout the lengthy process, which lasted nearly eight hours, I was left sitting with my hair soaking in a bowl without a towel, highlighting the disregard for customer comfort and basic care. Furthermore, the disregard for the condition of my hair prior to the appointment, particularly the application of bleach to already damaged areas, only worsened the situation and resulted in a mismatch of colors and further damage. Overall, my experience at Aveda Institute Phoenix was deeply disappointing. The lack of professionalism, competence, and attention to customer preferences and hair health was evident throughout the appointment. I love Aveda Institute in Tempe. I have been going there over 2 years and have followed several students through their educational journey, challenging and encouraging them. I love all the plant based products from shampoos, conditioners to color has my hair soft and full of bounce! And the price is right for a bonus. Carissa (Chrissy) Fuller is an amazing student with an abundance of confidence and knows what she's doing. I usually have my student refer the next confident student to me. I have never been disappointed with their choice. By sticking with them from beginning to end they learn what my likes and dislikes are. It's always a great day at Aveda for me. Had 1 really bad cut and 2 successive were bailouts from the instructor. Thank god they are there. Usually try and reserve with a near-graduate level- however judging by some of the cutters and their skill levels is rather amazing they are ready to graduate...shocker-not ready for prime time for certain. The ambience there is rather like a frat house. Some cutters are really hard workers and truly focused on their professions and earnings power! (Like Caylen and Marina). The rest are sitting around on their phones, bothering customers, chatting like it's an after hours gossip bar! Whoever is running day to day operations really needs to have a sit down and decide what they are running there; a daycare center or a professional school for the truly focused career people. read more

I went to the Aveda Institute and received a 60 minute facial with Bri Taylor. It was the most relaxing facial I have experienced thus far! Bri was so warm, welcoming, and professional. She conducted a skin assessment that was spot on and also addressed my stress levels for a more holistic approach. From there she customized the facial to suit my needs and recommended products that I am loving so far! The service started with a foot scrub, which I've never received from a facial and I thought was a great touch that set it apart from the beginning. It also included much more massage than a regular facial, I was so relaxed. I left feeling like I was glowing from the inside out. I had an appointment for 230. I was told I would receive a call on my cell phone. I never received a call but since it was 2:32 I decided to go in the salon and wait. I never received a call. By 250 I went up to the counter to ask if I had misunderstood my appointment time. They told me I had missed my appointment and they were looking for me at 2:30. Since they told me the stylist would call me that's what I was waiting for-a phone call. She didn't offer an apology or offer to reschedule my hair appointment. read more

My first haircut was with Mayra. When I showed up, she greeted me with a smile and a warm welcome. I'm a mess when it comes to my hair and I never know what to do with it. However, Mayra was very patient and fun when it came to what we should do. She took her time and worked with me, telling me exactly what she was doing, why, and took time in-between stages to help myself visualize how I want my hair.
