Awful and super disappointing! I chose this salon a couple of weeks sgo after calling several places, discussing extensively with them and even sending pictures of my daughter's hair. She is a teenager, Afrucan American with beautiful thick and ling hair who wanted a brasilian blowout for homecoming! This salon is supposed to specialize in those! The poor lady who started doing my daighter's hair did not have a wide tooth comb or any comb to untangle her hair after shampooing her hair she was doing very poorly with a brush....after I complained she asked a colleague for a comb. Than she was supposed to parts her hair to apply the lotion, she was doing that with her fingers. She then tried to blow dry her hair still partitioning with her fingers and using a huge brush but she could not do that either. So she applied the blow dryer directly to the hair strands. Then she applied the flat iron not doing the roots because still not using a comb to part the hair, going over the tips full of knots with the iron. She had no protection for my daughter's ears when we asked for one. Her and I were very concerned, I asked the recptionist if that process was right. My daughter's hair was a mess....see picture. She rinsed her hair and started over still with no comb, no partition no brushing. We had enough. We left being promissed we would get the boss or someone more experienced on Tuesday. The boss called me telling me he would do the brazilian blowout himself or have some experienced do it for her on Tuesday. We got a phone call two hours later, not for the B.Blow out....but for a consultation on her hair! This place is ridiculous of invompetence and bad faith!!! Don't go there if you are black or have tectured hair and especially not for for a brazilian blowout: they don't know how to do them!!! We wasted 5 hours, my daughter cried when the lafy was pulling her hair and she did not get her hair done!!! They gave us products we have no use for: SHAME ON YOU!!!! read more

This review is based on haircuts ONLY. More specifically, haircuts for naturally curly/wavy hair. Short Review: Natalie is the scissor savior that we need. When I have a vision, she sculpts it and molds it in her craft. Never have I been more satisfied with a hairdresser. Full Length Review: I've been coming to this studio for about 2 years now, and only go in about twice a year for maintenance. And I think everyone can agree... it's ALWAYS trial and error when finding a decent hairdresser. I've gone from Bonne Vie Salon in Winter Park, a salon that's good on the surface but is overall shady and snobby, to Mosaic Hair Studio, a decently reviewed salon that was closer to my house but ultimately wasn't satisfied with the hairdresser's cut style. FINALLY I decided to do some hardcore research, because I'm tired of throwing money away for unsatisfactory results and also because my hair is my glory. As I probed the Googles, I would select a salon and begin considering things like (1) star ratings, (2) portfolio, and (3) content of the reviews of each hairdresser at whichever 4 or 5-star salon I decided to analyze. I honestly don't remember how I stumbled upon Matthew Michael's, however I was very impressed by each hairdresser's portfolio here. I made an appointment with Natalie and holy hey-zuus, I believe that may have been the best decision for my hair's sake. You see, every time I go in I kinda have an idea of what I want my hair to do but I don't necessarily have a photo to go off of (but always have a back-up just in case I can't convey my vision in words). I'll walk in and say "I don't like the way my hair is making this triangular shape as it's growing in," or "I want my curls to be more curly" because I have thick hair and there are certain areas where my hair is so heavy that it doesn't curl well. This girl will consider everything I have concerns about, ask questions accordingly, and go to work. I am telling you Yelp fam, she is the master of scissory. And I've got to say.... you know how it takes about a week or two for you to adjust/like your new hair cut? That never happens with Natalie. I ALWAYS love my haircut, because she executes exactly what I asked. Also, another perk if you're an introvert like myself, it's not a discomforting silence when no one speaks. Usually when I go in it's probably after I worked and am just tired from the day's stimulation. We'll chat at first to catch up, but towards the end I just sit there and relax in the process of her artistry. So to wrap up this review, THANK YOU SO MUCH NATALIE! I've gone here now 3 times for highlights. 2/3 of the times, they had me leaving with blue toner in my hair, and say it will take a few washes to get it all out. I'm not sure if this is normal to do, or not. I just got my hair done yesterday, and my whole head is blonde with a bunch of different colors to it. Blue/brass/beige blonde. I'm so close to covering it up with box dye. I know it's just hair.... but I hate looking at it in the mirror, and have to go to a wedding with it like this. I found this gem by accident . I found Natalie (the greatest stylist EVER ) on Instagram . I went in search of someone that could give a great Pixie haircut . Her work was amazing so I took s Chance and booked the appointment. Natalie listened and gave me exactly what I was looking for . She pays attention to detail and really gives a great haircut. The fact that she is at an Aveda salon is a perk .:) I did take away one star because it seems like they were pretty busy to book with and I didn't get my first appointment when I wanted it. Unfortunately I didn't want to leave this review but it's a must for all my curly girls out there. Let's start with the pluses: Very profesional and friendly services, hospitable and passionate behind what they do, as it seemed to me. Clean and welcoming environment in all ways. Now for the negatives: this was my first time at this salon for a hair cut, I only paid $25 albeit it was with a "beginner" I thought to myself, what's the worse that can happen at such a highly reputable salon? Welp my friends, wrong question to ask cause apparently, a lot. I trusted him because he seemed to be aware of the potential mishaps, even mentioning the "triangle hair" that many inexperienced stylists cause on curly locks. Needless to say, it came out as terrible as I could imagine and he didn't cut it dry nor wet, it was in this limbo of frizzy dampness cause he was using a comb before snipping away. I knew that was probably a very bad idea, but closed my eyes and gritted my teeth. I did mention to him that he should wet it if he is not experienced with dry cutting hair, but he said he wants to see where it lays....^.- well pictures speak volumes so I'll just leave it there They did offer a redo, but that would only make me a fool. I'm glad they were at least understanding of my situation and were definitely sympathetic. Hence the 2 stars :) Update to comment: Candice could not have been trained with curly textures as she told me that she would first straighten my hair then cut. A big no-no for curlies. She was very honest in her abilities and stated she would try her best with the situation at hand. I appreciated that she did state she wouldn't feel comfortable doing it wet or dry curly. If my stylist did the same to me I would kiss his feet. Getting an irreversible service done to your body definitely deserves honesty in the capabilities of the stylist. If only he would've said that he has never done this textured hair before, I would've definitely been willing to pay. He was simply the one offered to me for the time slot I had available. I received a gift card to this salon and went there for a foil & cut. I'm a brunette with previously highlighted hair that is very long, not very thick, baby fine, and very soft. I had roots that needed to be touched up, and I also asked to be a bit brighter in the front. When I left the salon that night, the hair framing my face was very bright blond, she did really heavy foils around my face. It looked ridiculous when I pulled it up into a ponytail. So, I went back a few days later and had it toned. I wasn't charged for that, and it did help with the brightness. When I went back to have the front toned, I asked my stylist what all these little hairs around my face were. I asked if they were baby-hairs and she told me yes! She said that it was all new growth. She explained how we naturally lose hair at certain times, and grow it back at others. Now a few weeks later.. when I went back to my regular stylist (who happens to be my aunt who lives in NJ), she freaked out and was very upset about the condition of my hair. She told me those little hairs are not baby hairs! It was breakage from being over processed. So, yes I felt like an idiot for being completely lied to, and believing my stylist at MM. I saw a senior stylist at this salon. If you are a "senior" stylist and I am paying $250 for a cut & color I expect you to educate me and suggest that my hair may get damaged if it gets highlighted again. She should of recommended that I stop highlighting, or at least told me what would happen!! Also, maybe if she didn't pull so much bleach through my hair around my face I wouldn't have so much breakage. I wont be returning to this salon. For that price, I will buy my aunt (a REAL senior stylist with over 25 years experience) a round trip flight to Orlando any day! read more

This salon is located in a cute little plaza next to stardust coffee so very convenient for some coffee with your hair appointment ! As I walked in I was greater by a man named Beel. He offered me a beverage and made me feel very welcomed! I only waited maybe 5 mintures for my stylist Sara. Sara was VERY sweet and did an amazing job on my blow out! While I was in the middle of my appointment Beel came by and offered me a snack out of this tray full of different options. I thought that was really cool! What salon does that?! So great! I'm very pleased with this salon. I bring my son there to get his hair cut. So far, all of his cuts have been awesome. He's been with both Candice and Sheldon. Everyone I've spoken to here has been extremely friendly. The stylist are always kind and make a point to conversate with my son (who's only 6). He went from not liking his hair being cut to actually loving it after the services here. It's just right around the corner from our home. I'm so thankful I found this place. I always love coming to this salon. The staff is friendly and very attentive. On my most recent visit I got an awesome cut. After a couple of days, I realized that I was unsatisfied with the cut I got. I emailed the salon and got a call from the manager who was able to get me in immediately for a fix. True customer service! After getting my hair "fixed" I was more than pleased and look forward to a return visit to this salon. My hair feels completely different after the conditioning treatment. She gave me a light head and shoulder massage as well. The salon was nice too. The washroom was comfortable with ambience music and relaxing images on the TV. Sometimes establishments will try to skimp you when they find out you bought a groupon, but not this place. This is my favorites hair salon in the Orlando area. I moved an hour away and still continue to endure the drive just to have my hair done here. Maria is my stylist and she's amazing. I get a highlight and cut/style and it's always on point. She not only does a phenomenal job, but she is super quick. I have a LOT of hair. Today was my first time at this salon and they were amazing! The customer service was superb. The manager, Beel, personally came out to greet me, shake my hand, got me checked in and during my brief wait got me something to drink and gave me a cool, refreshing hand towel. I'm starting a new love affair with Brandy! I've been in Orlando for 3 yrs and had not found a stylist. I was still driving home to Miami to get my hair done when needed. I found this salon on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I have very fine, thin, natural hair which takes a lot of care to prevent tangling and breakage. So being beyond hesitant to try a new stylist was an understatement.
