They fried my hair after giving me low lights (asked for highlights) and then proceeded to make it seem like they were doing me a favor by not charging me to fix what they messed up! Never have I ever had such a horrible experience and the heart of the experience was Gary's daughter who works the front desk. They are way over priced, Gary seemed nice as he walks around and will acknowledge every guest but the lack of professionalism by the gal the front desk couldn't be more rude and comes across money hungry. Will never go there again and I tell everyone I know. I spent over $500 for fried hair and rude customer service. You should go to Beauty and The Balyage. They have restored my hair health and my faith in salons here in Orlando again. They also have reasonable process and decades of experience as well. It's been about a year since I went to the salon, but when I did go they completely overcharged me, and I came out with something I did not want. I had asked for a copper color. (I brought inspo pics.) and I ended up with hot pink. The "color specialist" told me that it would fade into a copper. Which is not how color theory works. They charged me $400 for a haircut and to go over my already made highlights with the wrong color. I was also told each service comes with a complementary neck and shoulder massage. The Gary Lambert Salon is located in beautiful Winter Park on Park Avenue. I have going to this salon since 2005 and love it. Shawn does a fabulous job. I am always happy with how my hair turns out. Lauren does a fabulous job greeting clients when they enter the salon making you feel welcomed. When you walk into the salon you will be asked if you like a beverage. They have the best coffee. I need to find out where they get their coffee beans from because the coffee is phenomenal. Gary and Shawn and the entire staff is very friendly and professional and they also do a lot for the community by giving back. One of my guilty pleasures is getting a pedicure after I get my hair cut. Taryn does a wonderful job! I always worried about getting pedicures because of the bad experiences I heard of regarding cleanliness in establishments but here at the Gary Lambert Salon I never have to worry because their salon is super clean and they really take pride in their work. Eh - overpriced for quality of services. Not impressed with cut or skill. Charged 75$ extra for a hair protector product called k18 / literally 4 squirts - whole bottle of product is available from Sephora at that price & the website states that charge should be no more than 10-20 (for high end salons). If a salon asks "what are you looking to spend" - run - this is a good indicator that they are trying to gauge if they can nickel & dime you. Shame. I've def paid 500+ before at a salon BUT these were top notch professionals saying with confidence 'this is what you need - this is the cut that is best for you' pure confident talent. while the salon was a clean, nice environment, and the staff were super nice, What I asked for was not what I had gotten color wise. The image I had finally decided on was a very light pink rose gold like color for highlights. and I specifically asked not to change my original hair color in between. which should not have been that hard since I already had highlights. I am a college student with a not very large budget for touch ups nor do I have that kind of time. we did talk about pricing before the service but by that time if I cancelled I would have been charged almost 250 dollars for cancelling because of what I originally wanted so I decided to just go for the light pink. my hair is now several shades darker than my original dirty blonde. again, I do not have the time nor the money for the regular touch ups and I made that clear. My biggest concern was going to be the color difference between the browns when my hair grew out.. and I am NOT happy. the service in total was over 400 dollars and that was with met student discount. and while I totally understand your pricing and was willing to pay that for this, I was willing to pay that for what I had asked for. I have had much better experiences at different salons for less. I am planning to go back to the salon and speak to them when I have time and I will update my comment based on their response. read more

Gary Lambert's salon is located on the south end of Park Ave, in Winter Park, about a block up from where Park Ave hits Fairbanks. I was here recently for a friends spa party, it was my first visit. All of the salon staff were very friendly and welcoming, the vibe was fun and festive. Gary personally attended to all of the spa party guests while finishing up his clients for the day. The salon specializes in hair cuts and colors but has treatment rooms for expanded spa services. Each of the gals had a great time and I enjoyed picking up some needed Aveda products while waiting for services. Living in Winter Park I have passed the Gary Lambert Salon many times but always thought it was too expensive for me, which it is. Late last year I found out that on Wednesday and Friday they give half off of a cut and style. With a cut and style ranging from $56-$88 depending on the stylist, the half off makes it much more affordable. I've seen Anna three times now and she is great. Everyone on staff is really friendly. They start you off with a neck massage before they wash your hair and it's an Aveda salon, so the products are mostly natural and as close to organic as possible. When they ask you what you would like to drink, say the tea. The Aveda tea is so good that I paid $14 to buy a box of 20 bags. read more

I have been a client of Gary Lambert Salon & Spa for a little over two years now. It was a serendipitous chain of events -- I was not pleased with the way things were going with my stylist at the time, felt like she was more interested in telling me her woes and her life activities, and paid very little attention to what I had said about my hair. So -- I'll make it a very abbreviated story -- I had made a charitable donation to a local cause, which also entered me in a drawing, for a cut and style at the Gary Lambert Salon in Winter Park. And lo and behold, I WON!! I was traveling extensively, and was out of town almost non-stop, and wasn't going to be able to use the certificate before its expiration, but ZINGO, they authorized an extension. My first visit included an extensive evaluation of my hair condition, suggestions for color and for cut. I felt comfortable giving the stylist poetic license. I was SOOO pleased with the results, that I made an appointment right then and there, to return. I've been returning ever since. I should add that I don't live in Winter Park, and my drive to the Salon is nearly 40 miles, one way. It's worth it. Shawn Hunt is my stylist. He creates a cut for me that I can do, with ease, on my own. Because I lead a very active life, I can't fool with my hair for half my day -- I want something fast, perky, complimentary, and easy. I want to look as good when I wake up on the airplane as I do when I leave my vanity. And that's what Shawn creates. He makes sure I understand all the procedures, and welcomes my questions, as well as my input on what I'd like accomplished. But I have such confidence in him, I basically tell him to "go at it"!! I'll admit I totally enjoy all the compliments I get on my hair, and always truthfully credit Shawn, and the Salon, for my great look. I hesitated, in the first sentence, when I typed "client", because I don't feel that way when I arrive. They all act like they've been waiting for my arrival -- really makes you feel good, that they know your name, and were even aware you were on your way in!! I enjoy their comradery, count them as dear friends. ... and being pampered with fresh coffee or tea and a neck massage ain't hard to endure!! Note: It also means a lot to me that the Salon, as a business, is very involved in the community, supports local charities and the arts, and is involved in many professional shows and events. I have been through so many salons in the Orlando area and I finally decided enough was enough and I needed to go somewhere great. I was also about 6 months pregnant and fed up with the inferior stylists I had been seeing. I had heard nothing but amazing things about Gary and he absolutely delivers on his reputation! I went in for an initial consult with my fried, over processed hair and he quickly took a peek, asked me what I wanted to accomplish (imagine that, he didn't want to chop off my hair) and we scheduled an appointment. At the first appointment I was there for hours as he worked his magic with no hesitation. He knew exactly what I wanted and how to achieve it. I put my full faith in him, because honestly, he couldn't make it worse, and he absolutely delivered! My hair looked amazing and was exactly what I wanted. Love it! I've since been going to Gary for almost a year now and my hair has never looked better. I get compliments all the time on it. It is also in the best condition it's been in years! The breakage and damage has grown out with his help and I now have very healthy, albeit color treated, hair, which is no easy task. The staff there is always super friendly and helpful. Laurie is always there offering a drink and sincerely cares about how you are. I love Lauren. Seriously, that girl can give one mean neck massage after your shampoo and if you have an opportunity, get your nails done by Taryn. She is so sweet and really great at what she does. After having lived in Washington, DC and Miami Beach, FL I was concerned it would be hard to find a stylist who was both excellent at cutting and styling hair as well as someone who listened carefully to what I wanted. Shawn at the Gary Lambert Salon is exactly that. I have fine, perfectly straight hair that shows every cut mark. Shawn patiently listened to me and then explained how he would cut my hair. While holding a product and looking at others, someone came up from behind me, reached over my shoulder and snatched the product out of my hand. Wow! I visited Gary Lambert Salon on vacation when I decided I needed a pro stylist to fix a bad cut and gets some subtle highlights for a new look. My Stylist, "AMY" is as good as they get. After an unrushed consultation, we came up with a plan and she delivered. This cut and color was a 5 even without the amazing shoulder massage. She even wrote out detailed instructions for the personal maintenance of my new style. It's pricey though, so go if you can afford the best ;-) read more

Had my first experience at a salon today. I was in need of a haircut, and the haircuts here are half off on Wednesdays, so I thought "why not!" It's definitely a different experience. They start you off with an offer of tea or water and a neck and scalp massage (which I was surprised to find left me really relaxed for hours). My stylist, Anna, was friendly and did a great job. I don't usually like my hair all that much, but I left after the cut feeling pretty good about it. I'll definitely return here for my next cut and ask for Anna. read more

I have visited this salon three times with mixed results. I had two nice haircuts at the reduced "Friday" rate. So I recommended it to my sister. She brought a photo of the type of loosely textured bob that she wanted and specifically said that she didn't want layers any higher than chin-level. She ended up getting her hair whacked to pieces with tons of layers all the way to the top of her head, like a Florence Henderson shag haircut from the "Brady Bunch." So based on her experience I decided to upgrade and switch to Shawn. I figured since he has been there forever I would be in good hands. After I arrived, I was escorted to his station and offered a glass of wine. When he walked up and saw that I was holding a glass of wine, he said loudly enough for everyone to hear, "Oh, I can tell you're going to be a live one!" Then he laughed loudly. It was about 2:00 in the afternoon when this happened. I don't think it's unusual to have a glass of wine at 2:00 in the afternoon at a salon (after all I was offered it!!) so I didn't appreciate the way he drew attention to me like that, implying that I'm some kind of alcoholic. So anyway, we got started with the haircut I emphasized I just wanted a half inch off the bottom and a few light face-framing layers. He ended up whacking me like a lawn mower. When he went to style it, he said, "Let me try something new on you." I said OK. He took out a curling iron of some sort and gave me so many pin curls I looked like Shirley Temple. When I went to check out, surprise -- the Shirley Temple curling iron treatment was an extra $20, which of course Shawn had neglected to mention when he offered it to me. I walked in with pretty, shoulder length hair with loose layers and paid $150 to walk out looking like Shirley Temple with chin-length hair. Plus I was given an attitude about accepting a glass of wine. I will NOT be back and I caution anyone I know against going here. read more
