I did not feel welcomed at all at the Bellevue Mall location. I came in with my friend who was immediately helped by the only sales person at that time (a robust white woman w/ dark hair). There were no other customers in the store as well. As my friend finished his purchase, I asked the sales person about a specific product, she didn't even look in my direction, answered my question w/ a simple 'yes' (which didn't answer my question) and walked to the other side of the store. That was a lost sale for her (I ended up buying the same product at the Southcenter Mall location). This store is clearly not managed well by how the staff treats customers. If you are seeking Aveda products, buy them on Amazon or find another location. The Bellevue Square location is not worth your time and hard earned money. read more

I been with aveda over 15 years, so I kinda know what products I like and what you get when you buy liters sizes for example pumps. Me and my gf went to aveda and she bought over 300 hundreds of products, they tried to sell a couple dollars more but I said there always coupons let's not go overboard. Two of the products were liters bottles and suppose to include pumps, it was 3 but when we reduce our numbers the pumps were not included. Lucky she had been using ultra and their pumps work, we called the next day what happen and ask what happen to the pumps, they replied sorry , you can drive to the mall and pick it up.Wait a minute I wanted to drive back and return all the stuff, who cares if now I have 53,000 points. A Wonderful Aveda location in Bellevue Square mall. The staff at this location is very knowledgeable and passionate about their products. They always have fresh, hot, tea samples available for guests and most of the time offer hand relaxing massages. The staff offers add on attempts in a non pushy fashion, and does so by explaining the feature and benefits of why you should take them up on their offer. Once you say no though, they are quick to drop the fact and go back to friendly conversational topics. Overall a wonderful 5 star Aveda location! read more

I purchased 3 products from Aveda about a month ago. I had barely used any of the products, but I wanted to return them because my scalp was getting irritated. I lost my receipt but I called Aveda and they told me I could bring in my credit card statement. My boyfriend had the day off so I asked him if he could run the errand for me. He had the products with him (90% full), my credit card, and my credit card statement, but he said Jennifer was extremely slow, unhelpful, and unnecessarily sassy. Love the girls here - they're helpful without being pushy or overbearing. Browse as you wish, or get a consultation. My hair belongs to this place - I love the Shampure shampoo and conditioner for my thick, wavy hair. All I use these days is the Aveda Men Pure-formance Firm Hold Gel, followed by the ControlForce aerosol hairspray. The gel lasts me a good 2-3 months of daily use, and the hairspray a good 3-4 months. I don't spend any more than I would on the less healthy stuff I used to buy....this product lasts, and is FAR better on my hair, and it shows! Try the tea - you either love it or you don't, but it's always a trademark part of my visits. Oh, and their room sprays are WONDERFUL - one pump freshens up the entire room! read more

I did not feel welcomed here at all. As soon as I walked in the sales rep did get me tea and did ask what product I was looking for without really asking me if I would like a massage or anything. Around the same time another lady walked in who was offered tea plus massage? So I'm not sure what was that? I've shopped at Aveda at Alderwood before and perhaps would stick to continue making purchases from there, but never the bellevue location. read more

I just stopped in to the Aveda store for a bottle of shampoo. Who knew I would be treated like a queen? Not 2 minutes after I walked into the store, I was offered some tea. Lovely! Of course this was no out-of-the-bag twinnings tea, it was super swanky Aveda tea. I asked the nice gal at the counter to "take a look at my frizzy mess of hair and PLEASE HELP" and she jumped right in! She had several suggestions for product that would salvage my strands. I even bought a different type of shampoo as per her advice. THEN she gave me a free sample of this fancy hair treatment. Upon checking out I was offered to join the birthday club to receive free deals. Sweet! Just when I thought I couldn't give this store any more stars, I was offered a hand massage before I left. Rats--I had to dash. 5+ stars for Aveda...it's the thought of hand massage that counts! read more

Nice corner upstairs in the center atrium. Generally like how most of their products are organic, especially with facial skincare, that's important. Their line for foot stress relief caught my eye, with even a metal roller for more soothing effect. Also have a great selection for travel size, small tubes at the front cashier. good size store. read more

What can I say? I'm obsessed with Aveda and have been for quite some time. Not just because their products are amazing but even just to come into the store, drink some hot tea while you're looking around and get pampered by one of their associates that offer complimentary a hand, shoulder and scalp massage or be shown how to use one of their products as they put it in your hair. I just love everything about the aveda experience. Came into this store today and redeemed my coupon I received in the mail and of course had to buy something (their air control hairspray is the BEST!). Worst customer service. The woman was hostile and spoke in a manner that I was supposed to know about all the products what she was talking about. I asked questions, as I went in to buy specific items, and she barely bothered to disguise how annoyed she felt by my questions, no, my very presence. Even more insulted to find, through reading through comments here, that customers are supposed to be welcomed with tea and a massage? My friend wanted to buy something, too, she asked a question about the product and was CORRECTED like she was an idiot. We left disgusted by this woman's thoroughly rude manner. Freaking rude millenials are a blight on civilized society. Poor Aveda, you make these awesome, eco-conscious products, trying to good in the world, even though you're selling stuff, so it's capitalism, but it's green, and then you have people like me who just want to support you and you get stuck with the absolute worst people. How did she even get hired? She's the very absolute opposite of welcoming. I'm kind of surprised she didn't light me on fire, she was that hostile. University Village location? Don't know if she's ever at the location, but she never has been on the days I've gone in, the people there are a dream. Always gotten super friendly, super happy service there. I still like you Aveda, but this woman, I'd feel sorry for her maybe, she must be very unhappy to be so ugly towards perfect strangers AT HER JOB, but she was too snobby, and I just detest snobs. I've been a loyal customer of Aveda salons and products for the past 7 years. I was part of their point system in FL and I visited the salon once a month for hair appointments and received free services once a year bc of my frequent visits . I just moved to Bellevue and was buying a few products from Britney at this store and she was helpful until the membership program was mentioned. I told her I should be in the system already and she checked and made a phone call but could not find me in the system. She said she would add me and I said ok thank you. When I left the store I noticed a $10 charge for becoming a member. This charge was never mentioned to me to become a member. I should have been in the system and Aveda should have a more competent system for employees to use. To charge me without mentioning it was very deceptive. I called her after leaving the mall as I noticed it on my receipt and she said they always tell customers and typically do not refund the membership. I told her twice that she never mentioned it to me. She said ok u will have to come back to the store for a refund as she can't do it over the phone. It was rude of her to say they always tell customers when she clearly did not tell me and I should have been in the system. So now I have to drive back to the mall to be refunded for this employee's lack of customer service. read more

The staff at this location is wonderful. They are knowledgeable and eager to share what they know. I have received nothing but genuine advice and suggestions from this staff, never pushy or just trying to make a sale. I've attempted to buy a pricey item only to be told that a cheaper option would be a better fit for me, then they went into detail about the ingredients and explained why. Not to mention that they are incredibly personable and remember me every time I stop in. I truly enjoy every minute of my experiences there. I love the hand massages too! read more

Stopped in this location w/ a friend today so that she could pick up some items. Have to say overall I was unimpressed with the presentation of the store and it's staff. First off, we were not greeted by the three staff members present upon entering the store. Second, we were left to browse on our own then a staff member finally came to offer us tea and assistance. I, myself, have not shopped at any of the Aveda stores, but have had a pleasant experience @ Vann.Edge Salon in Seattle. I work in customer service and sales so I am fully aware of the dos and don'ts of the retail sales industry. I know there is protocol, as well as trade secrets on how to represent and sell to the consumer. Unfortunately, since I did not feel I had a personalized experience from this particular location, I will not return here for future purchases. I feel that the staff needs to be aware of all customer needs and address them accordingly. Perhaps management can review sales techniques and etiquette to help aide positive future customer experiences. read more

I would never go back to this store ever again! The manager called Mall Security on me when she disagreed and argued with me how their Hydrating Lotion was supposed to be used! I have to say the manager on duty I encountered was one of the most unprofessional, rudest, and meanest Store Manager I have ever encountered in my whole life! I went into the Aveda Bellevue Square store 20 minutes before closing on a Sunday evening and saw Ana mopping the floor behind the counter. I actually went to the store to claim my birthday gift offer I received from Aveda Corporate Marketing but the gift certificate had already expired because I received it late in the mail. Not only did she reject my request to claim my promised gift or to speak to her Supervisor but she seemed to be in a hurry to close the store and refused to give me a free facial cleaning appointment they advertised when I asked for one, citing that there is not enough time even when noone else was actually in the store. She also did not walk me to the Hydrating Mist product I asked her to help me locate but she just pointed me to the shelf where they were stocked. I could not find the Hydrating Mist so I tried some samples of the Hydrating Lotion and put it on my arms and body. When she saw me putting the Lotion on my body, she seemed alarmed and screamed that the lotion are only for the face but not for the body and started arguing with me. I asked her that "Anything that is made for the face would be suitable and can be used for the body, doesn't it?" I told her I didn't know that the lotion was designed for only the face but not the body and I didn't read the fine prints on the bottle. I continued to put some of the samples of the Hydrating Lotion on my arm and body besides my face. Then she got angry and said she would call Mall Security and started dialing the phone. I told her that was totally unnecessary and uncalled for and that I would leave the store. I stepped out of the store as I saw her dialed the phone to call Mall Security. Honest to God, I had said nothing mean or rude to her but just asked her questions as an innocent and uneducated customer and I did nothing to provoke her angry response. All she had to do was to educate me that that Hydrating lotion was not for my body in a calm and professional manner and explain that the lotion is only for use on the face and not the body. She could have handled the situation in a much more calmer, customer-friendly, diplomatic and pleasant way then threatening me. She must had a very bad day at work and took it out on me near store closing time. When I called her back anonomously later after I left the store to ask for the name of her supervisor, she hung up on me, too, as she must had recognize my voice. I had worked as a mystery shopper for many years and had evaluated thousands of retail sales and customer service personnel at many chain stores and franchises and I have seen the worst of the worst (but not in this case as this was not a mystery shop but a personal shop), I have to say that I have never encountered an incident like as shocking as this one before and this topped almost ALL of them. I am just shocked that she was put into management position because she is definitely emotionally unstable and unfit to be a manager (or acting manager) or any customer service position by any means. As I left the mall, I saw like 3 to 4 Security Guards walking around but I was not sure if they were after me or not but it certainly scared me and it made me very nervous while I was walking out of the shopping mall. The truth is I had said and done nothing even remotely to provoke her calling Mall Security at all and it was totally unjustified and uncalled for. This was the most absurd and weird shopping experience I had ever experienced in my entire life and I will make sure that this won't ever happen to anyone as no one deserves this kind of treatment from anyone. read more

I was in Bellevue from out of town and wanted to get all new make-up. I made an appointment at Aveda(Bell Square) and was very specific on what I wanted. I explained that I wanted make-up that offered full coverage and was made from natural ingredients. The girl on the phone assured me that they could help me and I made an appointment. I was only in Bellevue for two days and I had little time. I was so excited to go to my appointment. Upon arrival the girl helping me quickly made it clear that she did not do make-up. Their make-up was dated and most of the colors were out. She explained they only had tinted moisturizer and she would not be able to help me with face make-up. We moved on to the eyes. I will include a picture. She then moved on to eyeliner. They had no eyeliner in stock so she made her own with eyeshadow and some type of liquid, it splattered all over my eyelids. We then moved onto lips and mascara. The lipstick was way outside my lip line and she said they were out of lip liner. She handed me mascara to apply myself and then proceeded to tell me I looked beautiful???? I was completely insulted and actually trying not to cry. Out of complete obligation I agreed to buy the lipstick and black mascara. I spent $58. I quickly went back to my hotel room and removed the make-up on my face and reapplied my own make-up. When I went to use my new black mascara that I had just purchased, it was completely dried up. I called Aveda and she said "we sold you our older stock, we have more in the back room if you would like to exchange it". I was checking out of my hotel and had other obligations, I simply didn't have time to go back so I just lost the money. I hope this helps someone else from having a horrible experience.
