They are painfully slow. I've been coming here for years add I've never waited less than an hour. I usually come in the evening and I'm never late. There aren't usually a lot of patients in the lobby but the wait is always the same. The NP that I see is amazing, Marina. She takes her time, she listens, it's clear she's thinking thru the care she is providing. She has a very serious yet warm personality. She gets a 4 out of 5. As for the practice, they get a 3 and mostly because of her and because they usually will squeeze you in if you're sick and need a rush appointment. If they can better schedule peile they'd get a 4. I don't think I give anyone a 5 because this is subject to change based on so many factors. Bring a book, expect to wait. read more

Absolutely terrible. I went in and explained my entire situation with going to the er and having heart palpitations and this woman Kristina Mancini had to nerve to ask me "so why are you here?"..... maybe because this is a cardiologist and im seeking information of what to do about my situation. When i was also explaining something about my blood work she asked "what are you talking about?". I dont know if this woman is incompetent or if she even knows that she works at a cardiologist. Just spent 2 1/2 hours today for an appointment in this office. I am a long time patient of this office, waits are always horrible. There was NO excuse for today's wait. I hear "busy" or "emergency", and rarely a "sorry about the wait' but longer than usual waits seem to be the norm, today was just intolerable, being put in an exam room for an hour waiting for the doctor, after an overlong waiting room wait, and then more waiting in between. This issue needs to be addressed and corrected, but it's doubtful it ever will be, at this point. read more

Ive been seeing doctor Gupta and doctor Perilstein for years now. I recently found out i have high blood sugar and doctor Gupta has been helping me out with it for the past couple weeks. Shes very thorough as is Perilstein. I recommend this place not just because theyre good doctors, its also a very comfortable environment and the front desk workers are great as well. Very easy to get to and to park as well. These guys have never played me. Both doctors are very to the point and wont have you doing things you dont need. read more

Super expensive, it's cheaper to go to Urgent Care! Submitting $285 for a telecall (5 mins to go over a symptoms and get a prescription) is crazy! I have to meet my deductible, so paying $182 after insurance adjustment for a phone call (TIMES 3 since the first meds didn't work!) is just outrageous! I've been a patient there for years (15+), but definitely switching. Make sure you ask for prices if you have deductible to meet. Greedy! read more

I've only started coming here a year or so ago because I moved to the area and wanted a close primary care. I wasn't given a doctor, but a nurse practitioner as my managing provider. The NP, Marina, is kind and thorough, and the only reason I would return to this practice is to see her. HOWEVER, yesterday I went in for an emergency appointment and was given Dr. Gupta. This woman was the worst person I've ever met in my life. She was aggressive, rude, and even had the temerity to question why I was smiling if I was sick. Some people just have a bubbly demeanor, others (her!) don't. Then she basically accused my parents of not caring for my health (even though I'm 21) because I refused to wait in an ER for hours on end when I didn't think it was necessary for my condition). This practice would do so much better with a doctor who had proper bedside manner. read more

Greed!! Without notice raised their office charge from $190 to $285. When I called billing to inquire the rep was explaining that clearly I don't know how to read a bill. That my balance is what's left after the insurance pays their part. When I made it clear that I am capable of reading a bill and what has changed is my visit charge was $95 higher then previous. Reluctantly she admitted that 'well we did raise our rates'. So my out-of-pocket' for a 10 minute follow-up for a blood pressure check is now $178. I'm shopping for a new Dr. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews. I've been going to Dr Mitch Mayer for at least 15 years. He and I always laugh and joke around. He is very thorough and compassionate. I've also seen Dr Pearlstein but he seems to order a lot of unnecessary tests. The only complaints I have is if you want to see your doctor for a an emergency appointment, you aren't going to get him. They should really do better with scheduling. I don't like to see a different doctor especially when I'm sick. Also, the front desk is a hit or miss as far as consideration and pleasantness goes. Some of them are very personable and others act like they are doing you a favor. Overall, I love Dr Mitch and have even recommended him to my mother and aunt. read more

I've been going to this group for over 30 years and seen many of the doctors in the practice and overall had a good experience, however I will never again see Dr. Gupta. She was unprofessional and I was shocked at the way she treated me at a scheduled appointment I had on 7/21/2020. This appointment was a follow up from an Urgent care visit I had the day prior for left ear pain and a swollen gland. I was tested for Covid-19 as a precaution. The results later negative. The minute Dr. Gupta entered the room, I discussed the reason I was in the office. I think the only word Dr. Gupta heard was Covid-19 and She freaked out and proceeded to reprimand me as if I were a child. Her immediate concern "why was I in the office. I was exposing everyone to the virus" and she went on and on. I had my mask on at all times she had her PPE wear. she made me feel guilty through no fault of my own. I understand people are afraid and rightfully so, we do not know a lot about this virus. but I didn't expect this behavior from a professional doctor. I had no symptoms and I would not put anyone at risk. Again my mask was on at all times. No virtual appointment was given to me when I called the office that day. If anything she should have reprimanded her staff. She did eventually examine me and she apologized, but she left a very bad impression on me. My visit that day was horrible. And I want to add a last note for the person at the front desk who sent me a copy of my summary I left that day in the office from Urgent Care. The copy you made was slanted, and my address on the envelope looked like it was written by a young child, written with a black sharpie marker in big bold letters. I have recently moved to the US and needed to see a gynecologist. So I decided to see Dr. Bernstein who is the only gynecologist at Avenel Iselin Medical Group available only on Tuesdays. The experience was truly unsatisfactory as she did not let me finish a single sentence and yes, I also found her regressive! Since my move, I have been noticing that my periods are more painful and longer and there's some spotting; I have put on some weight too. Since the start, my cycles have always been pretty regular, hence I got worried and wanted to be medically examined. With all her expertise and experience, Dr. Bernstein did not pay much heed to the problem at hand, instead insisted that I should consider getting pregnant ASAP as I'm 35. Doctors only care about money and make you feel horrible if you don't agree to unnecessary testing. They come up with reasons for testing or make you feel bad if you say no and don't even remember you had a test in the first place so what's the point of pushing so much testing on people then. read more

This place is a joke. First, I called to make an appointment to have my annual health screening which my health insurer covers at 100%. When I explained this to the agent booking the appointment, she said that they couldn't give me the actual check-up covered at 100% without first giving me a a pre-physical assessment, which they said they would charge me for...wtf???? I only need one check-up, now two! I asked the agent if this made sense to her but she clearly didn't get the absurdity of it and refused to book the appointment unless I actually consented to their pre-assessment, that I would have to pay out of pocket for. Also, waiting on hold for ten minutes just to make an appointment is ridiculous. read more

I have a few issues with this facility. 1. The facility has a revolving door of doctors. So, you cannot establish a long term relationship with one single doctor. 2. Wait times are huge. 3. Since it is a revolving door of doctors, there is no followup. For example, I was asked to get x-rays done. However, I never got a call from the office about x-rays were in. In fact, they misplaced them and that record is lost forever. 4. When I asked for my medical records to be transferred for another doctor, they charged me $1 per page. More than that, the unwillingness to entertain such a request was very bad. This place is very poorly managed. If you want a transactional relationship with the doctor then this place is fine. Usually a giant waste of time. Staff are nice enough but they manage scheduling horribly. Once, I was sent home because none of the nurses(?) were trained to administer my regular allergy shot (I happened to come on an irregular day for my own schedule). Seriously?? I hate this place. I've been coming here for years but I only come when necessary, but the wait time is unbelievable. Waiting to be called in the waiting room is never too long but once you are in the examination room, it could be an hour or more wait. The doctors sit with you for 2 seconds and don't seem like they want to be here. I always go to the medemerge in dunellen, you're always in and out. They are very quick to collect your co pay but sometimes you are there for an hour before you are seen.I was 5 minutes late one time and they wouldn't take me but still charged me even though the gastro doctor has you wait long periods all the time. Family and I have been patients of AIMG for almost 2 decades. Overall they are helpful and sympathetic, and we appreciate them including (those I remember at this time) Colbert, Grundman, Perelstein and Riggi among others, and also specialist Dr Tanwir. They are professional and helpful. Sometimes the waiting time is quite long - so if one is not in pain and doesn't have anything else to do right after (e.g. job), the hour or more dedicated to the appointment may prove bearable. However most of us do have to go back to work even if one works remotely at home - thus that is not an asset of AIMG. That seems to be the world of medicine as it is the case at my dentist as well :( read more

I have been coming here for over 20 years. I started out with Dr. Printz as my PCP and when he left I switched to Dr. Riggi. If Dr. Riggi were still with the practice, I would be giving this place 5 stars because of his bedside manner and care for his patients. Dr. Riggi was the perfect doctor. Anyhow, he has not been with the practice for a couple years, so I figured I would give the other doctors a chance. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Ever since, Dr, Riggi left the care for the patients has declined drastically. I saw Dr. Perilstein. He is very rude and does not care at all about his patients. I saw him for my every 6 month check up and when I brought up some concerns I had, all he did was give me a sarcastic answer. That was the last time I saw him. Then I switched to Dr. Marc Mayer as my PCP and he was even worse. He did my yearly physical last month and I felt like I was on an assembly line. First off, he couldn't find my blood work that I had done prior to my visit. Not sure where he was looking because the nurse who called me in confirmed the blood work was there. After 15 minutes, they had to call Labcorp to get a copy faxed to them.Unreal!!!! Then during my physical, I brought up some concerns that I had and he did not listen or understand what I was saying. He gave me very sarcastic and uncaring answers. He has a horrible bedside manner. A couple weeks before I went for my physical, I was sick with an upper respiratory infection. I went on a Saturday and saw Marina Grundman. She is not a doctor and she is no better than the rest of the staff. She was in the room with me only 3 minutes (I timed it) and told me to take mucinex, saline spray and she gave me z-pack. Every time my mom and brother get an appointment with her no matter what their symptoms, she gives them the same 3 things. She takes no time to listen to what your concerns or symptoms are. She is in a big rush all the time. Back to my story. I went to her on a Saturday and by Wednesday I was still feeling pretty bad, so I made another appointment and got Dr. Gupta. All Dr. Gupta said was that I need to give the medication more time to work and to come back in a couple of weeks if I wasn't better. Are you serious???? I also found her to have a horrible bedside manner and a bad attitude. Then I go onto their patient portal and I review my medical records and they have me as having all these issues that I was never told about. Needless to say, I am taking my medical care elsewhere. I got better care at the CareStation than I got at Avenel Iselin. read more

Dr.Riggi is awesome but I had a really bad experience with Nicole at the front desk who was extremely rude and unhelpful, and also went out of her way to lie about circumstances. I've never had problems with the staff before and I was very upset with Nicole's attitude. It's a pity that such competent doctors are surrounded by people like her. read more

I recommend this place to everyone; My physician's assistant Marina Grundman is professional & takes time to explain everything in layman terms. Their hours are convenient for the working-class person. I recently had an appointment with their visiting urologist Dr. Aftab Husain from Perth Amboy, NJ. I am shocked that this facility has him on their staff. I had an occurring problem that I have had for years so I'm familiar with the medications. The doctor started to tell me the medications that he was going to prescribe and I interrupted him to tell him I cannot take one of them because I have a bad liver. He began to explain to me that all medications have side effects and contained to order the script on his IPAD. I also suggested he do a simple urine test he excused my suggestion, He gave me a script to go to LabCorp instead of doing it in the office. Everything I spoke to this man about he shut me right down. This man likes to hear himself talk. He also suggested I go to his office directly in Perth Amboy. In my business, we call that back selling. FYI This so-called doctor had my results from LabCorp in front of him that I had taken 2 weeks prior. He told me that all my results we fine. Thank god, I had an appointment after with a real professional at the same facility. After reading the results from LabCorp it was an easy solution. The problem was worked out with a simple test in the office, I had to call my pharmacy and cancel all 3 scripts Husain ordered. I wouldn't bring an injured bug to this man. Avenel Iselin Medical is a great place but stay away from Dr. Aftab Husain. read more

I went to AIMG on Tuesday, 7/21/15 for the very first time and saw Dr. Baskin with symptoms of Bronchitis. The visit went great, and I looked forward to becoming a patient at AIMG. She was thorough and gave me prescription to get a chest X-ray that day. That night I went and got a chest X-ray and was told the results would be sent to my doctor. Wednesday, 7/22/15, I was feeling much worse. High fevers on and off, and pain while breathing. I knew I just began my antibiotic though, so I didn't want to make a fuss. I called in to AIMG around 3:30PM to see if my chest X-ray results had been received and was told by their horrible answering service that they had been received, but not reviewed yet by the doctor. I said I was feeling way worse, and to please have the doctor give me a call back. He said he put a note in, and to expect a call from the doctor. That night around 11:00PM I woke up short of breath with a 104.8 fever and ended up going to the emergency room where I was told immediately following a 2nd chest X-ray that it was clear that I had pneumonia. Friday, 7/24/15, I receive a voicemail from AIMG about my chest X-ray. I call back and get the worst answering service that ever existed. I'm told there was no call put in to me. I said there actually was, 10 minutes ago. She said there wasn't, and if it's important *they'll call back*. I said I know why they're calling, I had a chest X-ray done 3 days ago and they're just now calling me with the results but in the meantime I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with pneumonia. She said she will note it in the system. I said can you ask them to call me back? "You want them to call you?" Yes! I go to sleep. I wake up to another voice message from AIMG. I call back and get the nightmare answering service again. I said I received a call around 1:34PM, she again tells me that it is not in the system. I said that this is absolutely ridiculous. This is the 2nd time I am calling and again you don't see it in the system? She tells me to hold on, and transfers me to the front desk. Front desk tells me that said answering service woman did not know where to look in regard to phone calls from the office -- WHAT! I told her to please remove me from their system, I'm never coming back. I chose AIMG because they're directly next door to my office but I would rather revert back to my original PCP and drive the 20 min than ever have to deal with that again. Long story short, if you're contemplating going to AIMG, don't. I could've known I had pneumonia and saved myself the trip to the ER if the doctor had taken the time to review the results, and had called back when I put a call in that I was feeling much worse. It's almost comical that a chest X-ray on an ill patient was reviewed 3 days after it was completed, and a phone call was never made to the patient who called in to state they were feeling much worse than the previous day they were seen even after a round of antibiotics. The answering service is just the cherry on top of it all. read more

I've been going to AIMG for years and up until recently they've been great. For the past year or so it's been nearly impossible to get an appointment anywhere near the date you call to schedule, which is great when if you're able to tell at least 2 weeks in advance when you will get sick. The phone service is awful, expect to be on hold at least 10-20 minutes no matter the time or day of the week you call. It's hard to understand how a practice with 8+ physicians cannot find an opening within a week of when a patient would like to be seen. If you need test results, don't expect them to be given to you in a timely manner. This past July I was sent for blood tests, and never received a call with the results, I had to call the office several times for several days before someone found the time to read me my results. Their excuse was "None of our physicians have an opening to call you". I find it hard to believe that no one in the office could find the time to make a 10 minute phone call to give a patient test results. The staff at AIMG don't make you a priority and with the price of medical care so high that is unacceptable. read more

So I've been going to avenel iselin medical group for sometime now. They are pretty high tech will their sign in process & portal. The doctors there are good, I've also seen 2 of the PAs which I feel they take their time more then the doctors. The wait is sometimes pretty long but I mean we can't always expect to be seen on time. Just don't go if you have somewhere to go after. Besides that, the girls at the front are nice and helpful. Although I feel like every time I go there's new girls so you can never really build a relationship with them cause you never know it you'll see them again. That had me and another patient discussing it as we waited for our appointments. Like,I wonder whether it's management that drives them away? For example the older woman that sits behind them "Mrs Evil Eyes" because that's how she observes every encounter between the girls and the patients. It's a little intimidating on me I can imagine on them. But over all I continue keep this place as my primary doctors office cus I only go when needed and for my annual physicals although I would like to be able to see the same Doctor each time I go. read more

i don't understand the poor reviews. this is a doctor's office, not the home of my best friend. i get excellent healthcare, very good service, very good explanations, even reminders when i'm supposed to have done something that i didn't do (see another doctor - ooops!) the wait time cannot be determined in advance. some people take more time than others. i've never been rushed so i apologize to whomever comes after me. dr. marc is my primary and he's given me the names of very good specialists when needed. i firmly believe that you get as good as you give. i'm funny and friendly to the staff and they're very nice and accommodating to me. i have memory problems and repetition is my friend. they never get annoyed with me. i've been dealing with the same staff forever and have no intention of looking elsewhere for healthcare. i've been going there for over 20 years and i'm very happy with the experience. read more
