So I go to Amanda for hair color and cut. Let me tell you, the woman is a hair magician. She does an amazing job every. Single. Time. I am a light brown and go from varying shades of blonde depending on the season/how I feel. Seeing how my hair turns out after Amanda finishes is like Christmas Day! I cannot say enough kind things about her. The salon itself is also fantasic, lovely ambiance with plenty of natural light. Nice music in the background to put you at ease. To tell you how much I love this place, I live an hour away and it is worth the trip!! read more

The last time I had a haircut was May 2018, so I was way overdue. Kayla J did a superb job today! She gave me what I asked for, long layers w/V-cut. Around 6 months ago I did try to give myself short bangs, which I regret doing, so she also fixed that up and gave me long bangs (So sorry Kayla). Now my hair feels great and I feel so pretty, yay! I also get my lashes done by Jess (The Lash Bar) upstairs. So being able to have two things done in one place was a hit! (Wish I took better pics, but I hope these will do.) read more

I have been going to Amanda Villa for years and I think my hair has been a walking advertisement for how fantastic she is since my first visit. Show Amanda any picture and she brings that vision to life. I used to just dye my hair dark brown and over the years she helped me add some color and in a way that does it require me to need touch up often. So much so that any given day months after my last visit I will be asked if I "just got my hair done". She is adorable and the salon has a great atmosphere. read more

So I searched Instagram and came across Kayla. Thought she would be able to give me the cool tone blonde I was looking for. I was excited finally doing something for myself as a pick me up...well first off very aggressive with the foiling and then made me feel like an inconvenience when she was asking another girl to blow dry my hair when she was done. (Left with my hair wet) Didn't get the cut I asked for and my "blonde" hair ended up being a yellow brassy mess...$220 down the drain. Some people just really don't give a crap. I'm not the one to complain and I've really tried to like my hair but I feel I should've felt good after leaving salon. Now I have fried hair and the color I didn't want‍. If people can't or don't want to do something they should tell you and not just take your money. I mean I paid for her experience and got ripped off. read more

Proceed with caution if you're a first time client. If the stylist makes a mistake, the salon owner points the blame at the client and lacks any accountability. I'm in the market for a new stylist and most people know how hard it is to find someone you trust. In the middle of this pandemic, I have been searching for someone new since my regular stylist is considered "high risk" for Covid-19,  and is not seeing clients.  I tried someone in Boston, who didn't do what I asked. She ended up fixing my hair by bringing it back to a base close to my natural color. I was holding off on going back to her because she was transitioning to a new place and is unavailable until mid-late Sept. I contacted a stylist at Avenue Fifty because her photos on Instagram looked phenomenal. I went in for a highlight (balayage) and specifically asked for no bleach blonde. I reiterated that again when she brought swatches to my chair. "Not too blonde". I wanted a natural look and referenced several photos including ones on her account. I noticed while applying color, she used bleach and decided to cancel the hair cut. I had a feeling my hair was going to be bright and didn't want to risk a bad hair cut. The end result looked good (or so I thought) and I liked it curled, since my hair has been in a bun since March. The next day, I noticed white strips of hair on either side of my ears. Then, underneath my hair there were patches of bleach blonde streaks. The placement of the balayage was terrible and the left and right sides of my hair look drastically different. I texted the stylist and went back and forth on what to do to fix it. I kept uncovering new colors mostly bleach blonde... what I didn't ask for. Someone I know asked me if I had foils done. I ended up scheduling an appointment for a toner, but contacted the salon in the meantime. I emailed the address on their website to explain my experience and asked for someone else at the salon to fix it. I attached photos to show the results. At this point, I now had two stylists who made mistakes within months of each other... I was feeling disappointed, discouraged and afraid to have a person who wasn't supposed to bleach my hair, fix my hair. I thought someone at Avenue Fifty would understand, but I thought wrong. The last thing I want to do right now is search for a dependable hair stylist. Especially during a pandemic and months away from my big day.  The owner responded via email, that it's salon policy for the stylist to fix it herself and that she is one of her top stylists. Since I expressed I did not want to go that route and clearly showed that the work done to my hair was not of a top stylist, I asked for a refund. They denied my refund and ultimately prevented me from getting my hair fixed.The stylist and the owner discussed my situation together and made a judgment call on how to move forward. She emailed me back. She sent one of the several inspiration photos I had shown the stylist and one photo of the side of my head that had the better placement (not saying much, it looks awful) of highlights (right side) and said that they wouldn't fix my hair. Also -  that since I came from another place unhappy, they would most likely not make me happy either (talk about being judged.. how do they know how I would feel?). I spent over $200 to have a salon not even attempt to help me. They took it upon themselves to prevent me from having my hair fixed and denied me a refund.  I'm sure there are other stylists there that are great, just be careful.... if you aren't happy with how they do your hair you may not even get a chance to get it fixed, which is downright unprofessional. In fact, they will turn it around on you. To be clear, the owner did not see me in person. This correspondence was all online via email. I'm shocked that this place made no extra effort given my circumstances and being a new client, rather they brushed it off and wished me luck. You are definitely rolling the dice if you try this salon out as a first-timer. I hope I'm a one-off experience and no one else goes through this. read more

I went to this salon based on a referral. I made an appointment for a consultation prior to scheduling an appointment. I showed a picture of Julianne Hough's new hair color and asked if this was something that can be done. I was told yes, so naturally I scheduled an appointment. I looked in the mirror and was in complete shock. This color was no where near what I was looking for. While my hair was being blown dry, I asked why my roots looked to be a totally different color. I was told it would look different when dry. I knew this was not the case. The stylist asked if I liked it, and I said " I think so". I am not the type of person to insult someone's work to their face. I immediately canceled my next appointment. A salon in Northborough quickly got me in seeing as though I could not go out in public with this hair color. I was told I had " hot roots" which explained the color of my roots I was asking about. I was also told I had a band. There were multiple colors in my hair and it took over three hours to fix. It cost me almost $300 to correct . I emailed the owner to bring this to her attention. I told her I would not post a bad review. All I really wanted her was to acknowledge how bad my hair was, she did not, instead she said she wished I called back to have it corrected. What a terrible first time experience at this salon. read more
