This place is very confusing. I walked in for a mani pedi & was told to pick a color. The only ones that said they were an extra charge was for the Dazzle Dry OPI polish which I did not choose for my pedicure. The woman said the pedicure would be $32, the sign said it would be $32, and then the man that did my nails charged me $35 for the pedicure. I ended up opting to get the dazzle dry for my mani & that was I guess only $7? Even though the sign said $10? It was just very confusing and feels like they don't adhere to their posted prices. To make matters EXTREMELY worse, when I moved from the pedi to the mani, the man made me pay before he would start my manicure. I have never experienced that before at any salon ever & I noticed that the White Woman next to me was not asked to pay until her service was completed. This is the most unhinged customer service experience I've had in a long time... I came in on a weekday afternoon for a no chip removal. The tech blasted my nails off (no soak) and it was very poorly done - there was polish left on the edges of my nails. Before I could say anything, a customer in front of me at checkout was complaining that her services were poorly done and rough. The tech at the front desk turns away from her and asks if she can help me, which was pretty rude to the customer in front of me. The customer in front of me gets even more worked up and starts yelling about how she is being ignored. I just want to leave at this point, so I pay the 10$ and get the hell out of there. Great location and unfortunately there aren't many places in oak park that won't break the bank. They consistently rush through manicures/pedicures even when they are not busy, just so that they can sit on their phones. I even had someone step on my toes from the other side of the foot dryer, completely messed up the fresh pedicure, and when I asked them to re paint it, they acted like I was an inconvenience and just brushed nail polish on top of the ruined pedicure I just paid for. I came here the other day to get pedicures and dip acrylic. All I can say is one of the worst experience, I had to come back 2 days later because my nails were turning yellow. I had showed them and they fixed it but then 2 days later it started to turn yellow agian. Will never go again. Went in for a re-color, came out with a really poorly done job where I can see the dark color from before on the edges of my nails. Also, new nail polish on my skin around my nail. They look terrible, I could have saved myself the trouble and done them myself. And the WORST part -- I got my eyebrows waxed and now have wax in my HAIR. In TWO parts of my hair. Needless to say, I requested a refund. Upon inspecting my nails, I could tell the manager agreed they were poorly done, as he spoke in Mandarin to a nail tech while pointing to the areas where you could see my former polish showing. However, they did not give a refund. After five or so minutes of interacting with the manager and listening to him converse in Mandarin with a bunch of nail techs, all they offered to refund was the $6 for the color change. Not for the wax in my hair, not for the extra $8 I paid because the former polish was no-chip. I went online afterwards and cannot find that this business is licensed. My nail technician did not show up as licensed in the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Database. I will be filing a complaint with the Village of Oak Park. read more

Most of the technicians are rude and will speak to each other in another language the entire time not paying attention to you at all. Extremely poor customer service. Went in on a Monday afternoon with no appointment but expecting only a small wait. I was sat down for a pedicure after some time and waiting 25 + minutes. No one looked towards me or notified me someone would be helping me soon. People came in after me (with no appointment) and got started on. I had a very distressing experience here. Two weeks ago, I took my daughter in for a report card reward pedicure. She has short hair and generally chooses more gender neutral clothing. It wasn't long after we were sitting down that I noticed the technicians staring at her and talking amongst themselves. Intermittently, they'd giggle. They soon summoned other workers over who all took turns eyeing up my kid and offering their two cents. The fact that they weren't speaking English did not make what they were doing any less apparent. Eventually the whole shop of idle technicians had gathered around. At the end of the pedicure, the woman who had been doing my toes gestured to my daughter and said "Boy, or girl?" I will never go back here and have advised my community of friends and acquaintances to go elsewhere as well. There's no place for this sort of phobic treatment in our community. Even if you're desperate, please do not go here. This place has seriously ruined my nails. I came to get a gel manicure and remove my old set of gel nails. Instead of doing a soak off the nail tech used the nail drill to remove the gel. This caused damage to my nails and made them incredibly weak. Additionally, it seemed like the nail tech had absolutely no experience painting nails. In the process of applying the gel nail polish she continuously painted on the skin of my nails and then would try to wipe it off with a paper towel and start over again...when it wouldn't come off she then tried to file the mistakes off. All while the gel paint wasn't even dry!!! There are better places in oak park. Please do not support this business. read more

Let's be clear - this place deserves ZERO stars. I refuse to ever go back to Avenue Nail Spa. I've been on the fence about going back the last few times, mostly because of the poor customer service. I went in this Saturday for a pedicure and signed my debit card receipt to authorize the $25 charge. I tipped in cash, so only $25 should have been debited from my account. I discover on Wednesday that my card was charged $35!! I was overcharged by $10, but for what??! I tipped cash and received no additional services that day. Naturally, I went back to the salon with my online bank statement and a hard copy of my receipt. I could not believe how unapologetic, not at all accommodating, and RUDE they were when I tried to get my $10 back! After 10 minutes of back and forth nonsense, them telling me the manager was not there and my original receipt (which I demanded to see) was with the manager, and the employees clearly not caring whether I get refunded or not, I left WITHOUT a refund. They did absolutely NOTHING productive and made no effort to keep me as a patron or to get me my money back right then. DO NOT GO TO AVENUE NAIL SPA. The customer service is terrible, they aren't THAT great of nail technicians, and they may very well overcharge your debit card. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. read more

The color selection is very unorganized and it seems like they have the same 5 colors but in slightly different shades. The guy at the front who I'm thinking is the manager or the owner kinda just walks around and stares at people. I got a pedicure and my nails were cut uneven and the color looked uneven as well. Good spot for a quick, no frills manicure or pedicure. I've been to this spot a bunch. It's quick, no appointments needed, and the job done is pretty good. However, this is definitely a no frills spot (well, aside from the massage chairs, which are nice!). Depending upon your nail technician, the job can be very good or just average. They either use a razor (which I will NEVER do), or sort of a pumice type sponge thing that doesn't do much. So, if your feet/hands need lots of attention, this isn't the spot. However, Avenue Nail Spa is clean and friendly and quick. So, as long as your hands or feet don't need a ton of TLC, then this is a good spot. They also don't mind that I bring my own polish, which is nice. read more

Only the men speak English and nun of the women do. I came in and they said pick a color so I'm waiting then she says wait will be 5 hours. I said why would you have me pick a color. So I end up calling soon as i left just to see what they were going to say and she said 30 minutes. I said you just told me 5 hours and it was quiet handed the phone to a CUSTOMER like what?????? And then she was making the customer tell me 30 minutes. ( I guess cause she didn't speak English well) but then don't answer the phone. This was about the 4th time I been here.
