Very pleased with the results of my husband's cataract surgery. Great team of doctors, nurses and staff.

Each staff member was friendly and helpful, and Dr. Young was kind and professional. My surgery was two days ago -- easy and painless, and less than two hours from walking in to walking out. The result was immediate. I was almost blind in my left eye, and now it has 20/20 vision both near and far. The whole experience was incredible! Thank you!

I declined the script as the doctor said there was only a 5% change in vision and my current glasses are working well and when I declined a script at past ophthalmologist's office there was no refraction charge and yet this office still insists the charge is valid. If valid then why doesn't insurance ever pay? If it were medically necessary then I would think insurance would have to pay. And why don't optometrists charge for such? And why not give the choice to the patient up front if they want refraction or not? If it were just the doctors and nurses/assistants I would give them a 5 star rating but because of the billing practice I want to give it a 2 or 3 star rating but will relent and give overall as 4 stars.

Great person, doctor and surgeon! We took our adult son to "Dr. K" after being referred by our…read moreregular optometrist, Dr. Lauer (whom I also highly recommend). Our now 35 year old who was born very premature (27 weeks) in 1987 developed retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) as an infant, and after two surgeries, was left completely blind in one eye (retina detached) and very near sighted vision in the other. At 35 he developed a very dense cataract on his "good eye," which we found out is not uncommon for people who suffered with ROP as an infant. Dr. Lauer spoke extremely highly of Dr. K (even though they had never met) saying that Dr. K's qualifications are off the charts, he has a reputation of a highly successful and skilled surgeon, and he spends time getting to know his patients and is very personable. This was SO important to us because our son is slightly disabled and has a difficult time communicating, and with only one eye to begin with, we wanted the most qualified and experienced surgeon available. Dr. K was everything we had heard he was and more. His staff was very nice and professional, and Dr. K spent a LOT of time with us, explaining everything in great detail in language we could understand, and assuring us that he felt very confident that not only could the cataract be safely removed and replaced with an artificial lens, but our son would likely have greatly improved vision over what he had before. Dr K also took every precaution -- sending us to a retina specialist for a second opinion on surgery, and having secondary pre-op appointments, double and triple checking measurements/pressure/etc. The surgery was a breeze -- twenty minutes--and the results life changing. Our son does not even need glasses anymore, and he is thrilled about that, and can see better than he ever has. Throughout the process (several months) we continued to be impressed with how optimistic and positive Dr. K was, and to find that he is a Christian who prays to God before every surgery. He has our highest recommendation!

He will change your world! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

I'm writing this because I called today and requested that someone in charge call me and, I have yet to receive a phone call. I've been a loyal customer of America's Best for many years at a different location, so when we moved to Huntsville I didn't hesitate to schedule appointments for my entire family. Unfortunately, this location has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. First, my mom was charged twice for her visit--over $500 in duplicate charges. Mistakes can happen, but getting the refund took over a month and required multiple calls to both the store and the corporate office before it was finally resolved. Then there's my situation. My glasses came back with an incorrect prescription, which again, I understand can occasionally happen. Not a big deal . However, what I cannot understand is the lack of follow-up and accountability afterward. I am now going on three months without my glasses because the store apparently doesn't know where my replacement lenses are. No one has called me with any updates, and every time I reach out I get vague answers with no resolution. And the young lady answering the phone acts annoyed that she has to look up information. I've been waiting over a month just for a replacement pair of lenses, with no communication, and I feel like this situation is completely unacceptable. I'm not an unreasonable person, and I understand that things can go wrong. But the poor communication, lack of urgency, and overall disorganization at this location have made what should have been a simple process incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. After years of being a customer, this experience has been extremely disappointing. I will not be returning.

The people who do the exams are nice, but the receptionist is exceptionally rude... to everyone. She was being rude to her co worker when I walked in, she was being rude to another customer after that, she made me feel like I was in the way and bothering her and had I not heard her being rude to everyone else it probably would have hurt my feelings. She handed me a tablet to fill out my intake form and and told me to sit at one of the eyeglass fitting tables to fill it out. I was waiting for her to finish talking to a customer and she goes "UM CAN YOU BRING THAT TO ME." So I did. Then I went and sat down where she had told me to sit while I was doing my intake information and she said "Did you want to browse for glasses." I told her I needed to wait until I got the trial contacts and she said "OK then you can go back there." Like I was supposed to have known there was a waiting area behind the main part of the store and she was trying to get me out of the way. It wasn't what she said, it was how she said it. And if she would have just given full instructions "take this tablet and fill out the information, then when you finish bring it to me and then you can go have a seat back in the waiting area over there" I would have known what to do and she wouldn't have had to holler at me across the store in front of everyone. But it's not Americas best fault, she just seems to be a harsh talking lady that isn't really nice to anyone.. But the wait time wasn't very long. The exam went smoothly. They didn't carry my strength in the brand of contacts I use so they didn't have the trial pair, which stinks because I can't see well enough to pick out my own glasses but other than that the experience was good.
