Was super excited at finding a pizza/beer place close to my new house. I need a new go to spot. I went in and ordered their Greek salad and a beer. The tab came to $28. I realized they charged me for two beers. We addressed that which was no big deal but then they brought out the Greek salad which was basically head lettuce, feta cheese. No onions, no peppers...just a terrible salad with terrible dressing. I voiced my disappointment to which they merely said sorry. No offer to refund or replace even after I returned it. One star for decent beer selection. No stars for terrible service and customer focus. read more

Was a tad nervous after seeing reviews strictly based on crust. I'm a big thin crust fan. But got the brussel sprouts with goat cheese and was not disappointed. Even though the crust is the reason I'm giving a 4-star review, it was light and airy and worked perfectly with my selection of toppings. I want brussel sprouts on every pizza I get from now on. I have looked for local pizza restaurants near me and noticed this place and was excited to have pizza nearby in South Austin. I ordered a pepperoni and jalapeño pizza and was very underwhelmed. The pizza was waaayyyy to doughy and had the taste of cardboard which may have meant to be undercooked. Cheese had a similar taste and consistency to a Poppa Johns pizza. Jalapeños were not cooked at all and seemed to be thrown on the pizza after the fact. I will give two stars since they do not shy from toppings which is good but for the price of the pizza to the taste I was really disappointed. read more

Aviator has become a new favorite spot for HH after work. There are plenty of choices for beer and wine on tap. The pizza and grinders are very tasty. The service is relaxed and attentive. The seating and decor are sparse and unfussy. The owner, John is very friendly when he is in the restaurant. Overall, highly recommend a try. read more

Very wonderful atmosphere and for our Saturday night visit it was not crowded at all and everything in and out of the restaurant was very clean. Definitely a great first impression! We ordered our food and the cashier was very friendly and helpful, which was definitely appreciated since it was out first time visiting. Our total was rung up and the tablet prompted to add a tip to our total. I added a tip, paid, and sat down at my table and thought nothing of it. We had decided to sit outside and once our food was brought to us the employee proceeded to tell us that if we wanted any plates, utensils, cheese, pepper, or napkins we needed to get them ourselves. Inside the restaurant. I found this to be highly unusual since the employee literally walked right by all of those items to open the door to the outside area to bring us our food, only to have the majority of our table get up and follow him/her back inside to grab the items necessary to eat our meal. I do not mind the concept behind self serving restaurants however, I was disappointed that I left a hefty tip when I paid only to be doing most of the tasks a server would be doing. It also did not help that we all ordered adult beverages and opened a tab yet, when a staff member visited our table we were not offered any additional drinks so we closed our tabs and went about the rest of our night. Overall the food was delicious and the cashier was helpful and I definitely can see myself visiting again however, don't expect a full service waiter/waitress and be prepared to get everything yourself. read more

I like this place. Well, I really want to like this place. The food is good, and the beer and wine selections are nice as well, but please make use of the bar by getting some bar stools. This place is right by my house, and sometimes I'd like to enjoy a beverage or two here without sitting at the giant community tables. The bar is long, beautiful, and completely underutilized. Love the Aviator for its location to us and that its locally owned. Love the clean modern interior. Patio area. Plenty of parking. Lots of beers and wine to choose from. There's better pizza in town.
