Came to Southside after a nice trip to a Barton and didn't disappoint. Luis took care of us as he does his own grandkids, opening the business to send them to school. The food was so good and made to order. He recommended all different pizzas and gave us recommendations for the next time. A friendly neighborhood pizza place with the best guy running it.

Hits the spot for a late night hole in the wall pizza joint. It's a decent thin crust pizza that's not too saucy and not too cheesy -- it could've been more flavorful sauce wise and the crust could've used just a tad more fluff if I'm being picky (it's perfect if you like a thin crisp crust) but overall it was great.

Southside Flying Pizza truck at Zilker Park

Recently stopped for a slice at the Food Truck in Zilker Park. I was pleased to see Southside Flying Pizza and another food truck taking the place of the horrible snack bar that used to be there a couple of years ago. That snack bar had in-edible food, which is hard to do when all you serve is burgers. I got a slice, for $5 and it was just about the worst pizza I've had in a decade. The young woman who served me seemed bothered to have to serve anyone. I was surprised when she asked me if I wanted it warmed up. Yes, I did. It was a thick slice, barely warmed with zero taste. I threw more than half into the garbage and moved on to visiting the park. Surprising how bad it was, but it's obvious some people just don't really care about doing a good job.

Great full sized Pepperoni Pizza. One of the best NYC style thin crust pizza in Austin. Tasty & delicious..!

Sauce was a little watery which makes for a soggy meal. Tasty dough !

Low key pizza shop sharing a parking lot with a gas station. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan sandwich To-Go. Friendly staff, but the food took some time because they had to thaw some frozen chicken (I was told). It made the tomato sauce a little watery and the chicken was borderline warm and cool in some parts. I'm guessing they rushed the thawing and were hoping that chopping it up would help (not quite). It was very filling and pretty good if I was going to compare it to bar food, but I think it's clear these ingredients are better served on pizza and not for this type of sandwich. This sandwich is almost a calzone except for the method of the how the dough is wrapped. Tasty dough though!

King of Pepperoni pizza! So good. This place is walking distance from my house and I'm obsessed. The staff was so friendly as well!

Probably the worst sandwich I've ever seen... picture is worth more than words. Went straight in my trash.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING we ordered was fresh, delicious, light, yet filling. I got the Social Butterfly drink which had butterfly pea powder in it to make it purple. It was as delicious as it was pretty. All the cocktails sounded amazing, I can't wait to go back and try them all. For starters we got the Guacamole, Brussel Sprouts and Crispy Macha Potatoes. Each of these were executed to perfection. The guacamole was fresh, topped with pomegranate seeds and well seasoned. The chips that came with it were light, crispy and it was gone in a flash! The Brussel Sprouts were cooked perfectly...tender and flavorful...not greasy...literally the best I've ever had. The Crispy Macha potatoes were next level!!! I have no idea how they make them, but they were SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I got the Waygu Sirloin as my main course and my friends got the Coconut Curry Squash. I enjoyed my steak and my friends liked their dish as well. We also shared the Roasted Beet Salad, which was fresh and tasty. Overall, can't wait to go back! 10 out of 10!!!

It was painfully boring. We had our 6-year-old, who is head of the Picky Eaters Society, so we ordered bread with butter. This 6-year-old, who eats bread on the daily, took one bite and wouldn't eat any more. We even get gluten-free bread regularly, and he eats it. The bread was fine, but don't expect flavor. By some miracle, they even made butter tasteless. I considered calling the Vatican to see if this was some holy, divine miracle, but my wife suggested maybe the main course would be better. We settled on the pesto pasta with chicken added for an additional fee. The pasta was good. Great texture, good flavor, and the combination of ingredients was good, but it's nothing original. It's pesto pasta. It's a classic. I appreciate the pomegranate seeds on the guacamole because it's original, it's clever, and it's different. We also ordered a special soda drink for our son, and it had a small black bug on top. I had them take it back and replace it. I kind of expected a "Listen, we apologize for the bug. Here's half off dinner," or something, but nothing. Service was fine, and it's a decent atmosphere. If you're looking for a place to sit and talk it's a great place, but if you want food or a drink go somewhere else.

My beautiful girlfriend, traveling home from Vancouver, had a morning layover in Austin just recently on a weekday, and I got us a reservation to Paperboy East. Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. It wasn't a long wait at all to get our food. The Texas hash looked great and was presented quite nicely, which is a shame because I immediately proceeded to mash it all together to make sure every bite had a perfect balance of the roasted pork, sweet potatoes, egg, and avocado. It was very filling and substantial, which is great because I needed it to last me up to dinner. The pancake is the star of the show and is worth the order alone. The flying saucer they serve rises like a cake in the oven and is extremely fluffy. She was surprised with how it was a traditional pancake but loved how moist it was for its size. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I've had a few of the locally owned brunch and breakfast spots in Austin and concur with the masses that this sits strongly at the top of the list. Best pancakes, best atmosphere, and the best times. RIYL: Good vibes served with maple syrup

They have a bar area and a separate food ordering window and once you open a tab at either area, you will only end up with a single bill. We ordered something to drink while we reviewed the burger options on the menu. We decided on the Amarillo burger and Double Dog Texas Tommy. Be warned, the burgers are Texas sized 12 oz patties and the double dog was big too so come hungry. After a short wait, your name is called to pick up your order at the window. Our food was delicious and truly one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. It was cut in half which facilitates eating it as a 12 oz burger is a massive bite. The double dog is also massive and was very beefy tasting. The interior of the bar is dark with a gothic horror film genre. There is an upstairs area with some games, two pool tables and a couple of old school pinball machines including a Frankenstein machine. Food: I had the "Pitts" and hubby got the "Chicago" (burgers). Mine was exceptional, hubby's was just average. The burgers are HUGE, the buns are super soft, and the fries are crispy (unless you add chili and queso like I did--yum). Service: it's an "order at the counter" dive bar--don't expect too much. The bartenders were slammed, but quick with witty banter and cold drinks. We didn't order one, but the Bloody Mary looks like a work of art! As for the kitchen window, Mr. Grumpy Dick will unhappily take your order and bark responses that are mostly incoherent. It's clear from other Yelpers this guy is off his meds and shouldn't be interacting with people. Ambiance: we met 15 or so of our new best friends--the patrons are all super friendly (and drunk). The place is dark and loud, the bar chairs are likely originals from their grand opening in the 90s (mine no longer turned), and in general, Lysol couldn't hurt (it's similar to an outdoor patio except you're indoors). The AC couldn't keep up with all the traffic, so it got hot. Also, after England beat Norway, an explicit, insanely graphic horror movie was put on the TVs--yikes!! Not ideal in any eating establishment...ever. If you're in the mood for an authentic dive bar, this place has that vibe for sure!!
