Came here with a friend a few months back. This was formerly Billy Jeans Burger Pub until they went under (which I predicted the first week they opened). Hopefully Aviator won't crash and burn and from my visit they'll be around for some time. They were less than an hour out from closing but we're happy to fire off a couple pizzas. My pepperoni and basil was amazing. They actually chiffonade the basil and the pizza dough was excellent and toppings generous. Nice folks I'll definitely be back. Great service/staff and the food and portions are excellent for the price. With around 20 beers on tap and 6 wines on tap, we are sure to be back. The atmosphere is cool, the staff is friendly. It's close to where I live. I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the pizza just isn't very good. I was genuinely excited about the possibly of having some good pizza in my neighborhood (Finally!), but this isn't that place. The crust was okay, but not that thin chewy dough that makes pizza exceptional. And the toppings and sauce were just lackluster. I could get an equally good pizza from Conan's or Gatti's. I would go there for a glass of wine or maybe try one of their salads, I guess. Again, the atmosphere is fine. But the pizza? I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Back to waiting for another pizza place to open up that gets it right. read more

I went with my family on a sunday around 1:30pm. There was a couple leaving but it was dead inside. We ordered a 14 inch pepperoni and fresh basil pizza. Came out pretty quickly but it was delicious! The crust the pizza was on was nice and airy but had a nicely crisp bottom. The toppings were generous as well. Only downside is that it is kind of pricey. 6.50 for a pint?! Amazing place! They have great pizza, not shy with their toppings and have interesting but delicious choices. We got the meat pizza that was overflowing with toppings and the chicken fajita pizza. I'm going five stars in this because it's the best pizza I've had so far while living in Austin. I grew up in Chicago so I love pizza! My observation (not a compliant or even an issue!) is that Aviator uses far less cheese then some of the pizza I'm used to. *midwesterners tend to like their dairy products*. The other side note is that if you cook the sausage under a cheese layer it doesn't roll off The spinach salad is big enough to be a meal in itself or split between 4 people. Great service and selection. Foccacia was really flavorful and done well. We had the brussel sprout pizza as well as the all meatpie. Neither pizza was great. Not very flavorful and the brussel sprouts were few and far between. I think pint house has them beat on price and flavor. Overall nice atmosphere and great staff. I love their pizza. They don't any odd spices to make their pizza sauce "unique". which always gives me heartburn. Aviator Pizza relies on a traditional back to basics sauce which is delicious and doesn't over power the taste of any toppings you want. I also like my pizza well done. This place is cute, with a good beer selection at pretty fair prices, chill ambiance, and a super friendly staff. Good outdoor area, too. We ordered the South Austin pizza, and it was pretty decent; essentially, it's a good cheese pizza underneath some okay toppings. The toppings kept falling off because they didn't appear to be cooked with the cheese itself and were instead thrown on after, if that makes sense, which was odd. And I'd have liked a little more flavor, especially considering how much crust you get per slice. But the cheese and sauce were nice. We also got the cinnamon dessert, and enjoyed it, despite the faint taste of garlic. Maybe make sure the pizza cutter/pans aren't being reused for the dessert? We both noticed it, but it wasn't enough to keep us from eating it. The place is new and super friendly and I'm sure they'll work out any kinks. read more

Delicious pizza - Sauce is a little sweet and a little tangy, thick but not overpowering. Light yet firm crust (actually holds its shape without drooping even on a 4-topping pizza). Just enough cheese to know it's there without being filler. Great ratio of toppings; again, enough that you're tasting everything, but not eating a whole onion or green pepper per slice. And decently priced compared to similar places in Austin (as in, comparable-to-cheaper-than your Homeslices and Little Delis). Excellent mozz breadsticks - Everything I said above applies + add garlic butter to the mix. I'm a fan of the atmosphere---you come in, you order, you sit, your food comes to you. All the seating bonhomie of bellying up at a communal BBQ table, but in a nicely-appointed space. All in all, definitely glad to see this place in the neighborhood, and hoping to get back there soon. read more

This is one of my favorite spots to pick up a pizza from in the south Austin area. I stick to the margarita pizza which I can attest never fails me. So delicious. My wife and I order 2 14in pizzas, the tomato rosemary cheese bread, and the blueberry cinnamon bread. Everything tasted awesome. The dough and crust was light, bouncy, and had the right amount of chew. Exactly what we were looking for. The cheesy bread was awesome and was indeed cheesy. The pizzas we ordered were the South Austin and Meat All Mighty which we're both great. Plenty of toppings on both. The meat pizza was more for me and had a lot of great flavors going on. Salty, smokey, and meaty. The blueberry cinnamon bread was super good and everything I hoped for. I'll be trying the pecan one next time because I think the crunch will be really good. Looks like some people had some issues with incorrect orders due to the online ordering system based on comment replies but we had no issues and everything came out perfect. We didn't modify anything either though. Definitely recommend trying this place out. read more
