This place is great. Definitely on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for IMHO, and their ingredients are super fresh. Sometimes I'm feeling a little lazy after work and just want to sit and eat my chicken, goat cheese, and spinach calzone with a glass of wine. I was excited to try this new pizza place and was happy with the experience. We tried the Greek pizza and it was delicious. We also tried a basic sausage and cheese which was good. I preferred the Greek pizza as it had a better topping to crust ratio. The crust is very airy and light. They also had 24 beers on tap, so lots of options to choose from. We didn't try a desert but saw one delivered to another table and it looked fantastic. Next time we'll have to try it. The staff were all friendly and helpful! We'll definitely return. read more

The atmosphere is great, welcoming, and has a great location. We ordered the wings, however, they seemed slimy and reminded me of Tyson wings. We ordered the rosemary and tomatoe breadsticks with ranch and they were pretty good! I would come here for drinks and try their pizza next time. read more

The owner (I'm assuming) seems to really care about making the customers happy and also seems super involved with helping out his employees. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could - I'm rounding to be kind. First of all, the pizza is delicious - perfectly cooked and the specialty topping combos are well thought out. BUT it's definitely overpriced and I'm bitterly peeved because they won't do half and half pizzas for their specialties. WHERE ARE YOU EVEN FROM. Everyone does half and half pizzas. It's a thing. It's like practically in the constitution. Also our appetizer cheese sticks had cinnamon and sugar on the bottom of the crust, which kinda ruined them. Get your act together, Aviation Pizza. Came in around 10pm on Saturday after a long day of moving friends new to Austin into their new home. Pizza and beer seemed like the perfect way to celebrate. We were satisfied with the food but will not be coming back because a man working there went out if his way to rush us through our meal. There were four tables (3 inside, 1 patio) eating when we arrived. Our drinks were served at the register as we took turns washing hands and the pizza arrived soon after. Before any of us finished our first slice the man walked over with a to-go box saying that the dishwasher wanted our tray. I told him we had just started eating and he responded by throwing the to-go box on the table and saying "You can eat out of this." So using the spatula we team-worked the six slices of pizza off the tray into the box the best we could (it didn't fit) but before we could get it all in there the man said "I need the that too," pointing to the spatula. We were were in celebratory conversation while this was happening and continued to eat our food thinking it wasn't a big deal. Sadly them man came directly back to our table after returning from the kitchen and told us we had to leave and that we could take our to-go trays. I looked at my phone. It was 10:42pm. Long story short we finished our pizza in our cars using fast food napkins from our glove boxes. There were no trash cans outside and it was terribly insulting to be eating out of paper while patrons from other businesses were making way to their cars. It was 10:52pm when we got home to throw the to-go box away. I have lived in Austin for 24 years and am always eating out and trying new places. Never have I seen a table rushed out 15 minutes before closing or restaurant staff who have all the dishes cleaned and are out the door by the posted closing time. Aviators made me look so bad in front of my friends that none of us will be back. If we were violating some policy it would have been nice to have that communicated. However I am confident that was not the case as we were initially welcomed and our order was taken. Beware of arriving to this place after 10pm. The staff will not communicate to you that their kitchen is closed or that they are only taking to-go orders. Leaving work early is more important than customers enjoying their meal, celebrating or feeling welcome in general. read more

Service was nice and the young lady who took my order was quite pleasant and accommodating, the menu seemed to be very home grown artsy as well as the locally crafted brew. The atmosphere was quiet as I was here early afternoon and this being my first time here was unsure of the usual amount of patrons, however the music playing through the restaurant was basically everything from hip hop to pop done with banjos and or acoustic versions which IMO gave this establishment a very hipster feel in accordance with their variety of specialty pizzas. $20 for a glass of beer and a 9 inch personal pizza (now I've heard it all, banjo seal-kissed by a rose) while the pizza was loaded with meats as I ordered, the dough is said to be made fresh if I'm not mistaken, yet somehow feels processed by way of taste and texture, however keep in mind I am also a bit of a pizza/hoagie snob as I am originally from New Jersey (omg banjo daft punk hahaha, this is kind of terrible). Overall I would consider this establishment one of those mainstream hipster austin establishments that seem to be the in thing these days. A bit over priced, not quite sure yet as this was my first visit, but at this point there are other place more traditional and east coast that I prefer as a creature of habit and they just wrecked motor heads - ace of spades with banjos read more

Great beer selection and excellent pizza! The bartender was super nice, helpful and gave us samples of different beers and ciders that were on tap. (The blood orange cider was AWESOME). We had the South Austin and Pepperoni & Basil pizzas. Both were very, very good. They had a lot of interesting options but I was with unadventurous eaters unfortunately. This review is overdue. My family and I have been gong to Aviator since they opened last year. I have ordered and enjoyed everything that I've ordered. I'm especially a fan of their Meat Almighty and Italian Grinder sandwich. I enjoy their beer menu because I get the opportunity to taste and support local breweries. Yummy! I had the garlic pizza with spinach and chicken on thin crust. It was perfect! Cheese stayed on the top, garlic cloves perfectly cooked. If you get a sandwich and a side, skip the chips and get the honey Brussels sprouts. Very tasty. read more

I avoid dairy so a pizza place isn't my go to, but after hearing good things, I decided to try Aviator. I carefully read the menu and selected a sandwich with no cheese on the ingredient list. It came out covered in cheese. When I took it back, the waitress said all the sandwiches had cheese but it just wasn't on the menu. They may have fixed that by now but was definitely frustrating and meant waiting a while for food while everyone else ate. When it did come out correctly, it was good so I would give it another try but now no to specify allergies even when not listed on a menu. read more

The restaurant itself was cute enough. So just on atmosphere I would have given it a 4 star. However the subpar pizza with tasteless crust and lack of customer service brought them down to a 2 star. I think a lot of people may forgive a ton of flaws because they have a decent beer selection. However when you have to beg someone to take your order for one of those beers I think most people will visit once and never return. read more

I have a problem where I eat pizza at least 3 times a week. That being said, I'm always alternating pizza places and trying out new ones. There are a couple of pizza places in Austin that everyone knows about. They're sometimes 'famous' or a staple of Austin. I won't mention names but they're pizza is alright-and that's being generous. Aviator Pizza is definitely the best pizza I've had in the Austin area. I absolutely love it. Their focaccia bread sticks are amazing as well. The bread sticks are so good I could just order a bunch of those and feel the carbs go straight to my double chin. The pepperoni and basil pizza, in my opinion, is their best pizza. The reason is that the pizza is perfectly cooked with the pepperonis a little crisped. My only criticism of this place is that as you get into pizzas that have more toppings the less cooked they seem to be. We've ordered the Meat Almighty pizza a couple of times in the past and it always comes out the same-borderline undercooked but not quite. I would love to try the meat almighty again if it were in the oven for a minute longer perhaps. We will definitely keep coming back! read more
